It looks like Lane Graves‘ case has reached somewhat of a conclusion.
According to authorities in Florida, they’ve found and subsequently euthanized the alligator responsible for two-year-old Lane’s tragic death earlier this month.

In a statement released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the organization expressed that they were “confident” that they had found and killed the animal involved in the horrific incident:
“The FWC is confident that the alligator responsible for the attack has been removed. This conclusion is based on expert analyses and observations by staff with extensive experience in investigating fatal alligator bite incidents. The conclusion took into account the proximity to the attack site of removed alligators and witness descriptions. Based on past experience, the alligator responsible is usually located in close proximity to the attack site.”
Well, it sounds like the FWC has made the resort a safer place. Hopefully the vacation spot also adds signs warning visitors of potential alligators.
The FWC went on to send their condolences, saying:
“There are no words to describe the profound sadness we feel for the family of Lane Graves. We will continue to keep this family close to our hearts as they deal with the pain and grief of the loss of Lane.”
Considering Lane’s family just buried toddler, the tragedy is still extremely fresh. We can only hope they can find some peace moving forward.
