Over two decades after first joining the world of entertainment management — at the surprisingly young age of 19 — the infamous entrepreneur is finally hanging it up. In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, captioned “23 years”, the 42-year-old went down memory lane through his entire career before announcing he’d made the decision to retire. He wrote in a carousel of images:

“23 years. That’s how long I have been a music manager. 23 years ago a 19 year old kid started managing an artist named Cato in Atlanta, GA and my journey began. Along the way I have had so many experiences I could never have dreamt of. I have been blessed to have had a ‘Forrest Gump’-like life while witnessing and taking part in the journeys of some of the most extraordinarily talented people the world has ever seen. I’m constantly pinching myself and asking ‘how did I get here?’ And after 23 years this chapter as a music manager has come to an end.”

He went on to explain how music management consumed his life 24/7 — and for a while he “loved it” — but now he’s ready to focus more on his kids after his “personal life took some hits”. But just because he’s disappearing from the management scene doesn’t mean he’s gone for good. He explained he’ll be continuing his role as the CEO of his company HYBE America:

“In this next chapter I have been honored to join as a board member of Hybe and serve as the CEO of Hybe America. My brilliant partner these past 3 years, Chairman Bang, has a vision I truly believe in. But even beyond that he has become a true friend who understands where I must be in my life these days. And that is a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more.”

Scooter added how he felt he’d been heading toward retirement for a couple years now, saying it was God’s plan for him. Innerestingly he says doesn’t regret any of the time he spent as a manager. In particular, he said he still supports ALL his past clients and is cheering on “every single one of them”:

“I have nothing but love for those I have worked with over the years, and as we develop a different working relationship, I will always be in their corner to consult and support them whether it be directly or from afar. Every client I have had the privilege of working with has changed my life, and I know many of them are just beginning to see the success they deserve. I will cheer for every single one of them.”

No regrets, huh? Of course, the record exec has been mired in controversy ever since he bought Taylor Swift‘s discography masters — allegedly right out from under her. And when he name dropped all his current and past clients with to thank them for all their work and time over the years, every big name he collaborated, he notably left her name off the list.

He reflected on his work with artists like Andrew Watt, Lil Dicky, Tori Kelly, J Balvin, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Steve Angello, Carly Rae Jepsen, PSY, Quavo, Kanye West, YG, The Kid LAROI, Dan+Shay, Asher Roth, and Usher. He also threw out the names of Demi Lovato and the Zac Brown Band, but it wasn’t until he started in on the successes of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber did he really show his pride. The music pro said it had been an honor watching them grow up into the “legends they are today”:

“There will never be a day where I don’t take great pride and honor in what we accomplished together. The same can be said for so many I have had the pleasure of once being called “manager”.”

Scooter didn’t forget to address the elephant in the room, though! At least indirectly. He took a moment to reflect on how he says he’s always taken “the high road” when “attacked.” He wrote:

“There has been a lot said about what is happening in our company… and in my career. When we had success I smiled, and when we were attacked I always tried to take the high road. But for the last 3 years I have begin to feel that taking the high road has created confusion and ambiguity as to who we are.”

So Taylor “attacked” him, is what he’s saying? And he’s the better person for taking the high road, but also he now thinks taking the high road was a mistake? Hmm…

The record executive said his colleagues will now be the ones taking over the management positions while he oversees this new era diving into primarily K-Pop, new artists, new investments, and his family. Wrapping up his statement, he said:

“So yes, it’s been 23 your ears. And yes, this chapter has come to an end. But the great Berry Gordy once told me ‘young man, it never ends the way you wanted, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.’ That wisdom has proven to be correct. I never saw how this chapter would end, hell, I never even saw it happening. But it did. And I will cherish every moment of it. I made my plan… but it turns out I like God’s plan better. Cheers!”

During a Monday appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 30-year-old got candid about her terrifying health scare over summer, which left her in the hospital for days. She told the host, “It’s been a crazy few months, a crazy year,” before Jennifer pointed out the elephant in the room:

“You were in the hospital this past summer, you scared us girl.”

Tori remembered:

“That was a scary few days. I actually ended up collapsing one night, and they found out that I had blood clots. And it was really crazy and scary and my family was definitely there for me, but I was like — I had a peace throughout most of it.”

She continued:

“But I was just kind of confused and wondering what was going on, and I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just, like, take care of everything and get me healthy, and it seems, you know, like it’s a manageable thing now. I feel amazing now. They’re still monitoring me and everything like that, but I feel great, I’m back to singing. I feel really good, I’m really grateful.”

We’re so glad she’s back on her feet! What a scary health complication, and at such a young age. We’re just glad she had her family and her husband by her side every step of the way.

As you may remember, the Paper Hearts singer had her self titled EP, Tori, scheduled to release while she was in the hospital. At the time, she opted to move forward with it rather than pushing it back. She told Jennifer:

“I had my music scheduled to come out that same week. It was already scheduled and I kind of had the option, like, ‘Okay do I want to push it back even more?’ And I decided I’m still going to put out this music even though I can’t promote it the way I usually would.”

However, since she feels the music is “happy and fun,” she wanted to share it with fans ASAP — and as she began to feel better, even got to “go on tour.” The Cut singer even teased “there’s still more coming.”

Wow!

Who knows, maybe even some of the positive responses gave her the strength to continue healing! We’re just glad she’s stable now — and can’t wait to hear what else she’s been cookin’ up! Watch her full interview (below):

On Saturday, the 33-year-old singer’s husband, André Murillo, took to Instagram Stories to share a positive update on her condition to fans. He wrote at the time:

“I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has prayed for Tori and sent any ounce of love her way. I believe it moved mountains. Fear gripped me hard, but God is bigger than my fears. I can never thank you all enough. Tori is doing so much better, and I believe you all have something to do with that.”

Such great news to hear! As we’ve previously reported, Tori was hospitalized on July 23. She had been out to dinner with friends in Los Angeles when her heart began to beat really fast. The Grammy winner ended up fainting before her pals got her into a car and drove her to the hospital Cedars-Sinai. When Tori arrived, she was admitted to the ICU and doctors discovered she had blood clots in her legs and lungs. Sources for TMZ claimed they were determining if she had any clots around her heart as well.

The Sing actress broke her silence about the situation, saying she was “dealing with some unexpected health challenges.” However, she did not got into detail about her condition. She added:

“It’s been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers & can’t stop thinking about you. I’m feeling stronger now & hopeful but unfortunately there are still some things to uncover. I’m so grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses who have been looking after me.”

The Grammy-winning artist may be in the midst of recovering from a “scary” few days of health battles, but she’s still keeping her fans in the back of her mind. Early Thursday morning, the 30-year-old shared a handwritten letter on her Instagram, in which she addressed all the love she’s been getting from fans, and thanked her medical team as she continues to get “stronger.” However, it seems as though she’s not completely on the track to a full recovery just yet, as there are “still some things to uncover.” She began her message:

“Hi friends… As you may have heard, I’m dealing with some unexpected health challenges. It’s been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers & can’t stop thinking about you. I’m feeling stronger now & hopeful but unfortunately there are still some things to uncover. I’m so grateful for the amazing doctors & nurses who have been looking after me.”

Poor Tori! It’s great to hear that she’s feeling “stronger,” but we just wish there were some more clear-cut answers regarding her health. But her “hopeful” mindset will do wonders in aiding in her continued recovery.

Don’t think that her crisis is going to stop her from releasing music, though! The American Idol alum had an EP planned to release Friday, and while the week of promotion may have gotten the kibosh due to her health emergency taking precedence, she’s still planning to move forward with that date to drop Tori. Even more eerie, one of the songs is called Alive If I Die. The timing is terrifying!

She added in her note:

“Of course I’m heartbroken about all the things I had planned for this week of releasing my EP, but I know my health must come first. Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I’ve been in the last few years. I won’t let this hurdle prevent the music from being yours on Friday!”

Monday, TMZ reported the Grammy-winning artist was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a “really serious” condition in which her heart “started beating really fast,” leaving her “in and out of consciousness.” Luckily, she arrived at the esteemed medical facility in time for doctors to provide her with the care she needed, where they discovered blood clots in her “legs and her lungs.”

So scary.

Now, two days later, we have an update.

Tori’s husband, André Murillo, took to Instagram Wednesday to share a much-needed positive status report for the Nobody Love singer! He wrote in a Story post:

“Tori is smiling again and feeling stronger. Not fully out of the woods but we see the sun. Just waiting on a few more answers.”

That’s so good to hear! We’re incredibly glad Tori is seemingly recovering, but we continue to hold her close in our hearts as it sounds like her medical condition isn’t fully resolved. We wonder what kind of “answers” specifically they’re waiting for?

Murillo concluded his update by thanking fans for their “love and kindness” throughout the surreal situation:

“Your love and kindness have been overwhelming. Thank you so much! ”

We’ll definitely keep the love and kindness going!

Monday night, the Paper Hearts singer’s husband shared relevant lyrics from her 2021 hit with Justin Bieber, Where Do I Fit In, on his IG Story:

“When I’m all alone / and fear is all I see / Sitting in the silence with these insecurities / It’s then you remind me, you’re holding me tight / And you love me completely, you’re always by my side”

The verse crescendoed with the singer warmly reassuring “It’ll be all right.” Thankfully it sounds like it will be!

As we previously reported, the Grammy-winning singer was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering from a suddenly rapid heartbeat during a dinner with friends on Sunday night. During that ordeal, she reportedly lost consciousness and was “out for a while,” according to news first reported by TMZ on Monday afternoon.

Now, André Murillo is speaking out about his wife’s condition in his own way via Instagram.

Taking to his Stories very late on Monday night, the former college basketball player posted a clip of one of Tori’s verses in Justin Bieber‘s 2021 song Where Do I Fit In.

Murillo’s IG Stories clip was a blackened video snippet with the song playing, and the powerful lyrics flashing across screen. Kelly sings poignantly in that two-year-old single, with these lyrics being the ones chosen by her husband to convey his emotions during this very trying time:

“When I’m all alone / and fear is all I see / Sitting in the silence with these insecurities / It’s then you remind me, you’re holding me tight / And you love me completely, you’re always by my side”

Then, after Bieber croons “and you say to me” to set it up, Kelly’s verse finishes:

“It’ll be all right.”

Murillo and Kelly wed back in 2018. Now, the 33-year-old — who used to be a basketball player at Biola University in southern California — is clearly very concerned about his 30-year-old wife during this adverse situation.

Kelly had been in the middle of a professional comeback in recent months prior to Sunday night’s emergency. After releasing her last album in 2020, the American Idol alum opted to live a more private life for a couple years during the pandemic.

But in March, the two-time Grammy winner surprised fans with a new single, Missin U. And it was only just last week that she revealed to the world news of her forthcoming album Tori, which is set to be released this Friday. So clearly she had a lot coming up and a lot to look forward to in her successful career.

For now, we continue to hope she can battle back against these blood clot issues. We know ICU doctors and nurses are doing everything they can for Tori — and we send our love and prayers that it will be enough.

According to reports, the 30-year-old Grammy winner was at a dinner in downtown LA on Sunday when she lost consciousness and required immediate medical attention.

Per TMZ, which first reported Kelly’s condition on Monday afternoon, the singer’s heart suddenly “started beating really fast” while out with her friends. As those around her began to realize how serious the situation was becoming, Kelly “passed out,” according to the outlet’s sources. In an ominous addition, the news org cites one insider who claims Kelly was “out for a while” during the incident.

Oh, no…

Her friends immediately took action. Curiously, they did not call an ambulance or take her to a hospital close to where they were. Instead, per the report, they put her in a private car and took her halfway across town to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, which is one of the best medical centers in the world.

Now, she is “getting care” in that ICU. Doctors have “discovered clots in Tori’s legs and her lungs,” per the site. As of Monday afternoon, doctors are still trying to figure out if there are other clots near the Grammy winner’s heart or other organs.

Throughout her hospitalization, Kelly is said to still be “in and out of consciousness.” An insider told TMZ the situation remains “really serious” with Kelly under very close watch.
