When thinking of Euphoria, one wouldn’t typically associate its viewing audience with a Christian congregation. But what about if one of the show’s leads was a pastor’s daughter? Well, that’s Hunter’s exact predicament! While on the Call Her Daddy on Wednesday, the trans 25-year-old rising star told host Alex Cooper:

“My dad [Mac] is a pastor, and my mom [Katy] is — she’s ordained to be a pastor — she works in the children’s ministry in the church.”

Yikes!

Anyone who’s remotely familiar with Euphoria will know how popular Christian values definitely don’t align whatsoever with the show, which depicts graphic underage sex, self harm, explicit drug use, and more. Hunter dished:

“There’s this whole, like, ‘pastor’s daughter’ trope, you know? And it gets kind of tough because, like, obviously what I do now is very — I mean, when I got my first job, I had to tell my parents that I was doing a TV show and in the first episode I’m having anal sex with a 45-year-old and cutting myself in the arm.”

In the show’s first episode, Hunter’s character Jules, who is supposed to be just 17 years old, has a graphic sex scene with Eric Dane’s character Cal — father of Jacob Elordi’s character Nate. We’d remind y’all the Grey’s Anatomy alum was nearly 50 years old when the scene was filmed! Later, Hunter’s character goes to a house party where she’s harassed by Nate, leading her to cut herself.

We bet that was quite the difficult pill Hunter’s parents to swallow! And even worse, for the whole congregation! She explained:

“They have to tell their congregation that their kid’s going to be on TV, and that their congregation who are just little old nice white Christian people from the South are going to watch this TV show and see me getting butt f**ked.”

We’re sure a lot of prayer took place after that! A different kind of holy…

The HBO star revealed she feels bad to this day “because that’s something that they still have to deal with.” But it’s not going to get in the way of her career! Hunter has a brief role in Emma Stone‘s new movie Kinds of Kindness, which spoiler alert, is pretty stripped down. She playfully revealed, “I got my titties out,” which she has “no personal problems with.” She noted:

“But it is something where I’m like some people just aren’t going to get it, and, you know, that’s a whole other thing.”

Last year, the Euphoria co-stars called it quits on their relationship after more than a year together. There weren’t too many details that emerged at the time as they both kept things pretty hush-hush. But Dom revealed in an interview with Apple Music last summer that he’s “done being in relationships right now.” As for his ex, she told GQ earlier this year she had to “exorcise a lot of the breakup feelings.”

Damn, so it must have been a pretty rough breakup, right? Or at the very least, one that at least left her in a really dark place. Well, now we know why…

In Wednesday’s installment of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Cuckoo star finally opened up about what really went down between her and her fellow HBO star. She told host Alex Cooper:

“Part of why the relationship ended is because I got cheated on for the first time. “

Oh no…

The 25-year-old revealed that the breach in trust left a forever mark on her:

“It’s part of my truth, but that fundamentally changed me as a person.”

So sad! Earlier in the episode, she said she had been “head over heels in love,” with the Babydoll singer, which is just so heartbreaking.

Hunter went on to reveal that as a trans woman, Dominic was the first ever straight, cisgender man she’d opened her heart to, AND her first ever monogamous relationship — so to find out about his infidelity unfortunately made her blame herself:

“As a trans woman, with a man who has never dated that [type of person] before … Because of the way I’ve been socialized as a trans woman, it’s been this crux in my life of why life has been so hard sometimes, I was like, ‘Oh, god is this it? Can I just not?’”

Ugh, poor Hunter! She didn’t deserve any of that! We hope she’s learned since that almost EVERYONE gets cheated on by the first straight, cisgender man they open their heart to. It’s kind of a rite of passage tbh.

Ultimately, she realized “cheating has nothing to do with you and everything to do with that person, and whatever pain they’re in, and whatever they’re dealing with” — but that didn’t make the shock of it all any less “hard” to go through.

Revealing how she found out, the Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes actress revealed she “kind of knew,” and because of that, she went through his phone, which she’s “not proud of.” But hey, clearly it was the right move.

But even with all that said, Hunter revealed her split from the 27-year-old was “one of the cleaner breakups [she’s] had.” She explained:

“We both recognized that ‘This is not working and we can’t do this. We gotta go our own separate ways.’ It was so hard. We loved each other. He was a really special person.”

Part of that reason was because she felt that he “saw me exactly as who I was,” and “didn’t care at all” what people had to say. For that reason, she said, she has “no interest in letting the public into what happened.” She strongly added:

“I want to make this very clear: I have no f**king desire because what happened with that was between me and him and I want to keep it and I want to protect that, but at the same time I’m also here to talk about my truth.”

Fans have been waiting for a third season since the last episode aired all the way back in February 2022. For months and months and months, they were left disappointed as there was no word on when production would start — or even if the show would return at all. Not until this month did HBO announce production would begin in January, with many of the main cast members set to return. But what was the hold up? Why did it take so long for an announcement to be made? We finally got the tea about the delay! It turns out all was not euphoric behind the scenes. We’re shockingly talking about Zendaya and Sam Levinson here!

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, a source involved with the production said the 27-year-old actress and the Euphoria creator “were thick as thieves” during the first two seasons of the popular show. However, their relationship became strained once he became more focused on The Idol instead of Euphoria, thus putting the next season on an indefinite pause.

The outlet reported that the plan was Sam would only write a spec script for the pilot episode and not spend too much time on the show since he was still working on season two of Euphoria. But apparently he didn’t stick to it. The filmmaker ended up working more on The Idol, which supposedly frustrated Zendaya, as he had not delivered any scripts for the third season over the past two years. In fact, she was so annoyed with Sam that she asked for a meeting with HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi and CEO Casey Bloys. The Hollywood Reporter claimed The Greatest Showman star demanded “to know why the network allowed Levinson to turn his attention to another show — an HBO show, no less — with Euphoria hanging in the balance.”

Their rift deepened in March 2023 when Rolling Stone dropped an article claiming The Idol’s production went “disgustingly, disturbingly off the rails” with a toxic work environment. Crew members slammed the series as “sexual torture porn,” depicting the “rape fantasy” of a “toxic man.” Once the show’s one and only season aired, fans and critics seemed to agree, slamming it for unnecessary sex and masturbation scenes. Not to mention that they thought the series was just bad in general!

Although Zendaya was not involved with The Idol in any way, she got dragged into the backlash online. An executive who has worked with her told the outlet that “her image is pristine” and “fans were turning against Sam,” calling for her to cut ties with him. Oof. That certainly didn’t help their already strained relationship! With Sam and Zendaya on bad terms by then, they had another meeting with Bloys and Orsi months later to discuss their creative issues. The hope was for the pair to reconcile. That didn’t happen, though. An insider involved with the show noted:

“They went from being so close, and they couldn’t fix it.”

What made the situation worse? THR claimed Zendaya told HBO executives she didn’t want his wife, Ashley Levinson, to be the sole executive producer on Season 3 of Euphoria after the death of executive producer Kevin Turen in November 2023. Sources said she is “more sharp-elbowed than conciliatory and, above all, fiercely protective of” Sam. Soooo, she’s not going to reel him in when needed? A talent agent told the outlet:

“Sam needs somebody else beside Ashley. He needs a voice of reason, and Kevin was a genius at that.”

Another insider added:

“Sam really is a big talent, but he needs managing, and if you’re a spouse, it’s tough. He needs boundaries, he needs deadlines. It’s hard for a spouse to set limits. You’re setting yourself up for failure.”

Of course, there are always two sides to every story. A source close to Sam alleged the director blames Zendaya for delaying production on Euphoria! He apparently feels she was “dragging her feet” over the show due to her busy film career, as she starred in Dune: Part Two and Challengers. One source noted:

“It was all about her. Everybody wanted to make it about Sam, but it was her.”

She also rejected several of his ideas for her storyline in the third season, including that Rue would be a private detective or a surrogate mother. Can fans blame her for shutting down those plans? We still need a conclusion to Rue owing Laurie thousands of dollars for a suitcase of drugs! At least tie up that major plot hole before diving into something else!

Despite all these issues between Sam and Zendaya, the two managed to work things out. On Tuesday evening, TMZ reported they are back on good terms and excited to work on the show again next year. Hmm. Whether things remain OK between them once production starts is a different story! During an interview with GQ published on Tuesday, the Euphoria star opened up about her once jaded outlook towards men at large — before she “fell in love” with co-star Dominic Fike. She told the publication:

“I had had so many s**tty experiences with men before — not from dating them, but just in life. I think I had built up a wall that was way too thick around them. And then I fell in love”

Awww!

Though their relationship didn’t ultimately stand the test of time as they broke up last year, the 25-year-old revealed that Dominic helped her “work through a lot of the feelings of disdain” she held towards men “as a whole.” She explained:

“I think it had inhibited a lot of my friendships with men, and a lot of that came down as well. I had a really beautiful relationship with [Dominic], and it really opened me up in that way.”

Wow! She noted that the two remain friends to this day, and that she even checked with the Beso singer before confirming the speculation:

Nika King is making it abundantly clear how different life looks like for her as opposed to her on-screen daughter. In a stand-up comedy clip she posted on her Instagram on Monday, the 44-year-old who plays Leslie Bennett, mother of Zendaya’s Rue on the hit HBO show, revealed she’s looking forward to season three just as much as fans… but for different reasons. She said in the clip:

“[When] season three is coming out? I don’t f**king know, don’t ask me, I don’t know. I know, it’s one of those things. People are like, ‘We need season three!’ I’m like, bitch I need season three. I haven’t paid my rent in six months.”

Oh damn! That’s messed up! You would think that being part of such a wildly successful show would put her at least a little bit ahead in life… but we know that’s not how things always work.

She then took aim at the show’s lead:

“And Zendaya’s over in Paris at Fashion Week. I’m like bitch, come home! I need you! Mama need you.”

Since season two wrapped in 2022, it’s been unclear when exactly it’ll be returning to screens for season three. But Nika is clearly banking on it. She added in her comedy set:

“Y’all laughing and I’m serious. I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria. This is some bulls**t, I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria, I thought I was good. It don’t work that way.”

The comedian star then referenced fellow actress Taraji P. Henson, who recently broke down over unfair pay and treatment in Hollywood:

“I called Taraji, she was like, ‘Bitch, get used to it.’”

Damn! We hope things get better for Nika soon…

On Monday, the Euphoria star was taken into custody by the New York Police Department after participating in a ceasefire demonstration. It was with the Jewish Voice for Peace human rights organization in response to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, and went down at 30 Rockefeller Plaza ahead of President Joe Biden’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. JVP told People on Wednesday:

“Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people. We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone.”

The musician-turned-actor was at the Sundance Film Festival last week for the premiere of his new film, Little Death, which just so happens to feature him as a drug addict, similar to his role in Euphoria. But there was a major difference that helped him get through this project!

While sitting down with Variety on Friday, he explained:

“I’ve done that before, like acted like a drug addict. I actually am a pretty big drug addict myself, believe it or not. When I was on Euphoria, they kind of just gave me a coach who would just talk to you. It was just some random lady. [Director] Jack [Begert] is one of my best friends so it made it a lot easier, obviously.”

The 28-year-old went on to explain that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson tried hiring him a “sober coach” during his time on Season 2 — when he played Elliot, a drug user who assists in Rue’s relapse. But the plan failed:

“[It was] a random lady that I’d never relate to. We had nothing in common. We didn’t come from the same places or the same problems. It was hard to take advice from someone like that or give a s**t.”

Oof. That stinks. For a show like Euphoria — which tackles drugs, addiction, and other mental health struggles — we’re surprised the higher-ups didn’t do more to make sure he had the proper support around him! Instead, it sounds like they did the bare minimum…

Despite the unfortunate sober coach situation, the singer-songwriter thinks it “would be dope” to return in the upcoming season, but he has no clue if he will, noting:

“Last time I talked to them, it was cool, [but] I don’t really talk to them anymore.”

Dominic’s short-lived romance with co-star Hunter Schafer ended over the summer… Wonder if that’ll play into the decision to include his character again or not? After all, he was caught in a love triangle with Hunter and Zendaya‘s characters! Could be awk! For right now, it doesn’t sound like he’s holding his breath for a call, as he continued:

“Who knows, I’ve got stuff to do.”

Guess time will tell! It says a lot that he’d be willing to return if asked, though.

Nearly two months after the Euphoria star tragically passed away at just 25 years old, questions have been answered regarding his mysterious cause of death. According to the Alameda County Coroner’s Office, Angus’s death has been attributed to an accidental overdose of a very “lethal combination” of drugs. A spokesperson for the coroner told CNN on Thursday:

“Angus Cloud died from a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and in what is ruled as an accidental overdose. Angus suffered from acute intoxication from the combination of drugs, which also included benzodiazepine.”

As we’ve previously reported, Angus’ mother Lisa was the one who discovered him unresponsive in their Oakland home. She quickly called emergency services, informing them at the time he had potentially suffered a “possible overdose.”

Soon after, she spoke out, denying speculation that he had died of suicide, writing on Facebook:

“Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case.”

The coroner is clearly backing her up on that. The manner being listed as “accidental” should put those rumors to rest. The presence of fentanyl tends to imply accident as well — as it’s been all too common a killer for drug users who thought they knew what they could take. How completely devastating. Fentanyl has claimed the lives of FAR too many in recent years.

Our hearts continue to ache for the Cloud family and all of Angus’ loved ones. Rest in peace.

As you know, the 25-year-old actor’s family announced he passed away at their home in Oakland, California earlier this week. They did not reveal an official cause of death. However, it seemingly had to do with his mental health struggle as they said Angus “intensely struggled” with the passing of his father, Conor Hickey, who died in May following a battle with cancer.

More details about the tragic situation have come out in the days since the announcement. Since returning home from burying his dad in Ireland, a source close to the family claimed to TMZ that he was battling suicidal thoughts. Other insiders even indicated he was “so traumatised” at the memorial service.

And then on Monday, Oakland Police and Fire Departments received a 911 call from his mother Lisa Cloud at around 11:30 a.m. Law enforcement sources revealed to TMZ she told the operator her son had no pulse and reported a “possible overdose.” But when first responders arrived at the scene, it was too late. The Euphoria star was pronounced dead at the scene. Heartbreaking. He was so young.

Now, Lisa has taken to Facebook to address Angus’ death in her first lengthy statement. She wrote in an emotional message, recalling their final moments together was “a joyful one”:

“Friends, I want you all to know I appreciate your love for my family at this shattered time. I also want you to know that although my son was in deep grief about his father’s untimely death from mesothelioma, his last day was a joyful one. He was reorganizing his room and placing items around the house with intent to stay a while in the home he loved. He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college, and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight we said how much we loved each other and he said he would see me in the morning.”

Lisa went on to insist Angus “did not intend to check out of this world” when he went to bed that night:

“I don’t know if or what he may have put in his body after that. I only know that he put his head on the desk where he was working on art project’s, fell asleep and didn’t wake up. We may find out that he overdosed accidentally and tragically, but it’s abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world. His struggles were real. He gave and received so much love and support to and from his tribe. His work in euphoria became a lightning rod for his generation and opened up a conversation about compassion, loyalty, acceptance and love. His head injury 10 years ago miraculously didn’t result in death as it almost always does. He was given 10 bonus years and filled them with creativity and love.”

She concluded:

“Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case. To honor his memory, please make random acts of kindness part of your daily life. Bless your hearts.”

Our hearts break for Lisa. We cannot imagine how much pain she’s in after losing both her son and husband in such a short amount of time. We’re keeping her in our thoughts during this tough time.
