A California man has been arrested after going on a deranged killing spree.

Last month, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department revealed in a press release that they arrested 41-year-old Joseph Gerdvil after being dispatched to the San Juan Mobile Estates in San Juan Capistrano. When they arrived, they found the decapitated remains of Ronald, 77, and Antoinette Gerdvil, 79 — Joseph’s PARENTS — as well as their dog.

Minutes later, they were notified that a “bloody male was chasing a maintenance worker in the same community,” so they quickly embarked on a hunt to track him down. They discovered the suspect in a golf cart he’d stolen from the maintenance worker, and the rest of the interaction played out in shocking bodycam footage released this week.

In the footage, a deputy can be seen drawing his firearm and aiming it at Joseph, who had on a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers. The deputy is heard ordering him to “get on the ground” multiple times, which Joseph completely ignores while quickly approaching the officer with an object in his hand. The deputy then fires five shots at Joseph, who collapses to the ground.

That’s when things start to get strange…

As multiple officers hover around Joseph’s body tending to his wounds, the murder suspect says, “I love you … I’m sorry you’re gonna have to die.” Not long after, he adds, “Just finish me off. Put one in my head, please. I beg of you.”

So eerie…

THEN, he brazenly stars belting the lyrics to Tina Turner’s 1984 hit What’s Love Got to Do with It:

“What’s love got to do with it, got to do with it? What’s love but a secondhand emotion?”

After that, he moves onto Stevie Wonder’s I Just Called To Say I Love You.

So incredibly creepy.

Joseph was ultimately rushed to a nearby hospital where his wounds were treated. He was charged with two counts of homicide, but will likely be hit with more charges soon, according to reports.

Neighbor David Desmond told Fox 11 last month that Joseph “had a drug issue” and had gotten into a fight with his father the day before the gruesome slayings. More details (below):

While getting candid in Part 2 of her interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show on Tuesday, Julianne revealed the dogs tragically died right after she and then-husband Brooks Laich had just split up. And it was sudden and violent:

“I had asked for a separation. And then ten days later my dogs were killed by coyotes.”

Coyotes?! Omfg… How truly tragic! Poor Julianne. And those poor dogs…

Later in the interview, she recounted the moment she learned of their deaths:

“I woke up before my phone even rang, and I knew. And I picked up the phone and my assistant at the time was just, like, screaming. I’ve never had coyotes in my yard, I have gates and everything”

So terrible. The Dancing with the Stars alum did, however, manage to reflect on what she was grateful for amid the devastation:

“That they went together — one, I’m so grateful that they went together. Two, I’m grateful that usually how it happens is very quick and that we got their bodies … But at that time I was like, ‘Oh, that was the unraveling of the absolute safety and unconditional love and I know I’m ready to open my heart and experience what this means.'”

That must have been unfathomably difficult to go through as she was separating from her ex-husband… What an awful time. She added:

“I had two dogs that were my kids. I had them for 11 years and for eight years. And they were everything to me.”

During the latest episode of her Miss Me? podcast on Thursday, the Not Fair singer revealed she got rid of her family dog after the not-so-good girl “ruined my life.” Whoa! What happened?

The pooch apparently turned Lily’s life upside down after eating her and her children’s passports and visas. OH NO! She explained on the show:

“We actually did adopt a dog already, but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home. She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in. And I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced, because it was in Covid and so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare.”

She couldn’t help but resent the dog afterward. Not only did the whole fiasco cost her a lot of money, it prevented 13-year-old Ethel and 11-year-old Marnie from seeing their father, Sam Cooper, for months:

“And because the father of my children lives in England, I couldn’t take them back to see their dad for like four months, five months, because this f**king dog had eaten the passports. And I just couldn’t look at her. I was like ‘You’ve ruined my life.’”

Jeez! Here is a thought… Don’t keep important documents within your dog’s reach! In a way this isn’t really the pup’s fault — one could say it’s the owner’s, AKA Lily’s! Dog owners should keep their passports and visas somewhere safe — not where a pet could easily get them. Just saying! Of course, the situation was frustrating. But to get rid of your dog for chewing things up — something dogs tend to do at times, even when trained — is pretty harsh, no?

According to the Smile artist, though, the passport debacle wasn’t the only incident. Lily claimed the puppy was overall “very badly behaved,” so she decided to return her:

“Passports weren’t the only thing she ate, she was a very badly behaved dog and I really tried very hard with her, but it just didn’t work out and the passports were the straw that broke the camel’s back so to speak.”

Wow…

Lily does not say which pup she gave back. However, it sounds like she possibly referred to the dog she named Mary Harbour, whom she and her husband, David Harbour, adopted from the New York City nonprofit Animal Haven back in 2021. The last time the couple posted snaps of her was in May of that year. See a picture of her (below):

And guess what? Despite her “nightmare” experience with her other dog, Lily said she plans to get another soon! The family hopes to get a chihuahua mix that they already picked a name for:

“We maybe are getting a new puppy in the next couple of weeks. Me and the girls have been thinking about a name, and we settled on Jude Bellingham.”

Well, we hope things work out this time and that Mary found a good new home…

A wife-to-be’s worst nightmare came true for TikTok creator Chloé Miller back in 2022! Her engagement ring went missing right before she had the chance to get married! In an interview published on Monday, the 26-year-old spoke with People to recall what a nightmare losing her ring was amid a packed grad school schedule:

“I had been gone for eight hours prepping for a big exam I had the following day. I had left the ring in my ring dish on my bedside table. I am known to lose everything and at the time, I did not have the diamond insured! I was absolutely devastated because I felt so irresponsible”

Chloé and her man were living in a long distance relationship at the time with her going to school at Georgia Tech and him working in Florida. And she was SO stressed she said she had her mom break the news to her husband-to-be!

After spending some time turning the house upside down she found the ring — but the diamond was missing from the setting! And she quickly pointed fingers at her Australian Shepherd Charlie. She told the outlet:

“She must have smelled it. I assumed she was chewing on it for some time. This is, unfortunately, not the only time she has got into jewelry. She does not chew up ANYTHING else except jewelry. We did a lot of research to determine when we should start getting concerned. She is an incredibly smart dog and I think she knew we were searching for it because she was pooping up to 6-8 times the following two days. We had agreed to go to the vet the following Monday if it hadn’t passed. As well, we couldn’t be 100% sure that the diamond wasn’t in some carpet or blankets, so we were turning the house upside down. Obviously, I was concerned for her health, but I will say I was an absolute wreck and pretty upset with her at the time.”

Chloé explained her man “immediately” drove over from Florida to help her search for the diamond, and that means exactly what you think. Two days after it went missing, he found it… in Charlie’s poop:

“She swallowed the diamond on a Thursday, and the diamond passed on Saturday morning. The only damage was on the prongs of the ring. Since then I have gotten the ring fixed and diamond reset in a stronger setting. I look back on that video and remember how upset I was in the moment, but to this day, we still joke about it with friends and family and even brought it up at the wedding. It is truly part of our love and family story.”

The Tulsa Fire Department shared the original video earlier this year warning viewers of the dangers of common household items… And how in the blink of an eye everything can change. In the footage, which shows any home and pet owner’s worst nightmare, a dog can be seen bringing a portable cell phone charger over to its bed to chew on… Except it was loaded with a highly combustible lithium-ion battery. And the dog bit right into it!

Andy Little, the Public Information Officer for the local Texas fire department explained in the video:

“A home fire in the Tulsa area was sparked by a pet chewing through the housing of a portable lithium-ion battery intended for charging cell phones. Many individuals keep these batteries within their homes for convenience unaware of the potential dangers they pose.”

The video then cuts to the raw footage of the dog chewing on the battery which quickly sparks, catching the pet bed and eventually the couch on fire. The dog, along with another pooch and a cat, quickly react as the fire slowly but surely consumes the living room. See (below):

Andy added:

“Fortunately the pets involved were able to escape unharmed through a dog door. However, the outcome could have been much worse if there were no means of escape or if the family was asleep at the time. It is crucial that you adhere to manufacturer guidelines when using lithium-ion batteries, only using approved chargers and storing them out of reach of children and pets.”

Thank goodness they were able to escape! Keep those lithium-ion batteries safely out of reach, people!

An Indiana man is facing murder and aggravated battery charges after his girlfriend’s 21-month-old baby died in his care — and he initially tried to blame the death on the family dog!

On the 24th of last month, police in the Indiana city of Lawrenceburg were called to St. Elizabeth Hospital Dearborn to investigate a child’s suspicious head injury. The child had been taken to the hospital by the mother’s boyfriend, Jesse Sartin (pictured above, in his mugshot). Once there, the little girl was rushed into emergency surgery to treat major skull injuries. The girl eventually died a week later despite doctors’ best efforts to save her. And it was the extent of the baby’s injuries that was concerning to both emergency room personnel and police officers.

According to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens via a press release, detectives began to investigate the 25-year-old not long after he brought the baby to the hospital. Per Deddens’ release, Sartin was watching the child while his girlfriend was at work. He reported to medical staff at the ER that the little girl had been “injured in an accident.” Doctors weren’t able to save the little girl, who died on August 1. Medical examiners soon after ruled her death a homicide.

When investigators reached out to Sartin about what happened, he initially told them the child had been standing on an ottoman and had been knocked off of it by a dog when he walked into the kitchen to grab her bottle. Cops didn’t buy that claim, though. Remember how the doctors were worried about the extent of the injuries? Per court docs obtained by WLWT, doctors reported the child’s brain had herniated, and was “leaking through her ears.” The subsequent autopsy revealed “swelling to the brain, significant hemorrhages in both eyes and hemorrhaging in the spinal cord.”

The reason it’s important to explain the the graphic details is because those injuries were far more severe than what would have happened had the child simply fallen a few feet. They were instead far more consistent with shaken baby syndrome. In a release to the media, Deddens’ office stated:

“Following an investigation, it was determined that Sartin allegedly shook the little girl for about 20 seconds.”

A few days later, during another interrogation, Sartin allegedly admitted to shaking the child after she’d taken a bath. He told cops she was “being aggressive and flailing her arms not wanting to get out of the bathtub.” Even more horrifically, he copped to shaking her for about 20 seconds, just as cops had theorized, and claimed that wasn’t even his first time shaking the child.

OMG…

Smith was officially arrested and processed into Dearborn County Jail on August 2. Then, on Monday of this week, he appeared in court for his arraignment where he was ordered to be held without bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim’s mother.

Before he was forbidden from having contact with the child’s mother, though, Sartin wrote her a letter. That message was read aloud during his court appearance on Monday, too. And it indicated some pretty damning admissions of its own. In the letter, per WLWT, Sartin wrote:

“Once the bubbles were gone, I drained the water and put her toys away. I tried to pull her out but she didn’t want to get out. Screaming and swinging her arms. I tried to pull her out but she kept pulling away and I was getting upset. Baby, I’m so upset. I shook her trying to get her to calm down.”

Just… unimaginable. Such an absolutely tragic and horrible situation.

Sartin’s next court date is set for October on the murder and aggravated battery charges he now faces.

“I wish her the best. She’s an amazing person and a huge part of my life and I always appreciate the moments we had together.”

When asked if he’s dating anyone new, the 30-year-old joked that “at the moment, I’m dating my dog.” He explained:

“She’s high maintenance. So my hands are full with my current partner, which is Porsche my dog.”

LOLz! He’s also focusing on his career, which has been on the rise since the split. But despite all the positive commentary, the Special Ops: Lioness star suggested it has been challenging to move on from this romance, he expressed:

“It’s going to take some time for me, as it does with everyone that goes through a breakup.”

Understandable! As Perezcious readers know, the former couple first met in 2016 and got married in June 2022, but they split just over a year later amid cheating allegations. Things went sour fast, so it’s inneresting to hear him speak so highly of the singer now! That said, he has insisted in the past that he’d never say a bad word about the Grammy winner in public (maybe ’cause he’s reportedly not allowed to — at least not on his upcoming Traitors appearance), so at least he’s sticking to his word! And now that the legal battle is finished, we’re sure it’s a little easier to reflect on the past, as we’ve seemingly seen the vocalist doing lately, too.

For her part, Britney moved on with Paul Richard Soliz, but claimed last month that she was single as sources said she was focusing on reconnecting with her children. Though, it now seems like they might be back on. So, she’s had a much easier time getting over Sam! But at least she doesn’t have to deal with any hate coming from him!

Nicola Peltz Beckham has officially launched her lawsuit against the pet grooming company she believes to be responsible for her dog’s death.

In June, Brooklyn Beckham’s wife took to Instagram to announce the heartbreaking news that her beloved chihuahua of nine years Nala passed away just hours after a grooming appointment. She said at the time:

“nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers yesterday but came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. we rushed her to the vet and she passed hours later.”

Shortly after, TMZ reported the Lola star had plans to sue the New York grooming company… And that’s exactly what she’s now doing.

On Tuesday, Nicola filed a lawsuit in NYC against HoundSpa LLC, owner Deborah Gittleman, and Jony Ceballos, the employee who groomed Nala. In her filings, which have been obtained by multiple outlets, Nicola accused Jony of “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs.” She claimed the groomer has a “history of complaints” of “repeatedly” mishandling animals, and accused the company and Deborah of “reckless and malicious conduct” for maintaining his employment.

The lawsuit further claims Nala went in for her scheduled grooming appointment in a mobile van outside of Nicola’s home on June 15 “happy” and “healthy,” but “returned injured and in severe physical distress — breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating.”

Nicola claimed she sped Nala off to a nearby vet, who discovered the dog’s “tongue was blue, she had fluid in her lungs, and she suffered neurological damage.” The lawsuit added:

“Nala was put on oxygen and cared for as Nicola distressingly and emotionally witnessed her dog suffer.”

Horrible. Ultimately, the filings claim Nala passed as the result of the “injuries and severe condition” with which she was returned from her grooming appointment.

Nicola claims to have been dealing with “damages and emotional distress,” and is seeking responsibility:

“This case is about holding responsible those who abuse animals in their care and shedding light on the lack of protections for pet owners and their beloved dogs and pets.”

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old took to Instagram to share a photo in which she and Beckham held a memorial service for the pup. She wrote:

“I am truly still in so much shock and pain over my baby Nala suddenly passing last moth following what should have been a routine grooming session. I posted the experience on my Instagram to bring awareness, and was heartbroken to hear the horrifying stories from so many others who have experienced the same tragedy. I can’t bear it. I’m outraged to hear how common stories like Nala’s are. We need to do better and change the laws to better protect fur babies and the loving owners who care for them. Our pets are our chosen family. I’ve dedicated most of my life to saving dogs and I can’t in good conscience let this horrifying act happen to more families. I will work for changes and laws to help make sure non one else ever has to experience this heartbreak. I will always use my voice to protect our innocent babies.”

Naria Harutjunjan has her finger pointed at UPS after her dog died in an incident she says was caused by a delivery driver for the company. During a recent interview with KCAL News, the North Hills resident claimed her pooch Lulu passed away last Wednesday after a UPS driver approached her home and threw a 55 pound package over her gate. Sadly, she says, it landed on her dog. The devastated pet owner told the outlet:

“I took the package. I saw my dog was … she couldn’t move anymore. My neighbors were there. They helped me with the dog to bring her to the Mission Hills clinic. But they said she passed away.”

How tragic.

Security footage from Naria’s neighbor does show the UPS employee approaching her home and throwing the package over the gate, just as she described. Her own Ring camera also recorded footage of the driver looking at the gate before driving away.

Reflecting on how dangerous the situation was, Naria told the news station:

“He could kill me, he could kill any baby playing here, or anybody else.”

She added through tears:

“Yesterday when I [wanted] to let her out, I took her and I said, ‘I don’t know Lulu, why but I love you so much.’ And it was my last time.”

Naria had just adopted the dog last year. So incredibly tragic.

If this is true, she’s absolutely right. Tossing such a heavy package over a fence is incredibly dangerous! In the wake of her story, UPS has announced they’re launching an investigation into the situation:

“We recently learned of the situation in North Hills. We are certainly concerned and will contact the customer. We will investigate and take appropriate action.”

Naria has reportedly been in contact with an attorney and is considering taking legal action against UPS, the driver, and Amazon, as she ordered the package from there. More details (below):

In a January episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, the Charmed actress said she wants to be “cremated” and for her ashes “to be mixed” with her beloved dog Bowie and her father John Thomas Doherty Jr.‘s ashes. She said at the time:

“Like, really mix it up so it’s a healthy mixture of my father, me and Bowie […] I do not want to be buried. I want to be cremated.”

Bowie was by her side at the time of her death, according to her publicist Leslie Sloane. The poor dog must be missing his owner now!

By the way, Shannen had lots of other thoughts on how she wanted to be remembered. During that same episode, she told her friend and guest Chris Cortazzo that he had permission to wear some of her ashes around his neck, just like she did when her dad died in 2010.

If you don’t know, Chris was one of the last people to be seen with Shannen out in public before her passing over the weekend. The pair was seen with a female friend outside of Kristy’s in Malibu, California in June. In photos of the group, the real estate agent could be seen with his arm wrapped around the Heathers alum as she smiled.

Also in the aforementioned podcast episode, the 53-year-old gave some ideas on where her ashes should be spread, noting that she wanted to “find a place that my dad and I both really loved and it meant a lot to us,” such as Malibu, California, where they spent “precious time” together. She also said she wanted her funeral to be “like a love fest” and only filled with people who truly wanted to be there and didn’t feel obligated “because it’s the politically correct thing to do.” That was definitely a dig at her controversial co-stars and ex!

While these next few weeks and beyond will be very difficult for her loved ones as they mourn her loss, at least Shannen was able to share her final wishes with everyone before it was too late.
