Glen Powell may be skyrocketing in Hollywood, but he still looks up to “legend” Ryan Gosling!

On Monday, The Wrap published a glowing article about the Top Gun: Maverick star, who’s slowly but surely but surely been solidifying himself as Tinseltown’s latest leading man. A Hollywood producer told the outlet:

“Glen Powell is most definitely an up-and-coming movie star in the sense that audiences now go to movies to see him.”

Then, in a cheap shot at Ryan, the producer boasted about how Glen’s appeal is far broader than that of The Fall Guy star:

“Unlike an actor like Ryan Gosling whose appeal is mostly limited to female audiences, Glen appeals to both females and males.”

Dayum!

X (Twitter) account @OneTakeNews posted the quote the same day. There, Glen not only saw it, but he responded to the dig at Ryan with some major praise! Referring to the 43-year-old’s role as Ken in 2023’s Barbie and his famous tagline “I’m just Ken,” Glen wrote:

“Gosling is a legend. I’m just Glen.”

HA! How perfect is that?! See (below):

Well you know what that means, Perezcious readers?? These two need to make a movie together!

Ryan Gosling is breaking up with Ken.

On Saturday night, the La La Land star took the Studio 8H stage to host the latest installment of Saturday Night Live — and used it as an opportunity to usher in his new era! In his opening monologue, he made it clear he was there to promote his and Emily Blunt’s upcoming film The Fall Guy — NOT Barbie. He said:

“So don’t worry, I’m not going to make any jokes about Ken because it’s not funny. Ken and I, we had to break up. We went too deep, and it’s over. So I’m not going to talk about it. I actually am going to talk about it a little bit. I have to.”

HA!

He continued:

“You know when you play a character that hard, that long, letting go feels like a breakup. And for processing a breakup, there’s really only one thing that can help: the music of the great Taylor Swift!”

Oh, boy!

The 43-year-old got behind a piano and put on some Ken shades and began singing Barbified lyrics to Taylor’s All Too Well, like, “I was just Ken and now I’m just Ryan.” LOLz! He even put on the famous fur coat he wore in Barbie! But the musical number got cut short when Emily waltzed on stage to remind him what he was REALLY supposed to be promoting:

“We had a whole Fall Guy monologue planned with a bunch of stunts and it was going to be epic. I was going to hit you with things and instead you’re singing about Ken. Again!”

HA!

She told Ryan he has to “move on,” which he agreed on, before breaking back out into song — this time with the help of some Barbies and a Barbieland backdrop! But Emily brought the production to a screeching halt by breaking a beer bottle over his head! She said:

“You are a stuntman and you can take a hit and look how cool that was.”

She told Ryan “Ken is dead,” before he reminded her she, too, starred in another summer 2023 blockbuster: Oppenheimer! The two bickered back and forth about which was the superior movie in a classic Barbenheimer brawl before she admitted to missing her role in the movie as well — in SONG!

The two ultimately bid farewell to their famous characters after a pitch perfect duet! Watch the whole thing (below):

Elsewhere in the show, Ryan had a Barbie reunion with co-star Kate McKinnon, which you can watch (below):

We love them!

Musical guest Chris Stapleton was also in the studio to perform his hit songs White Horse and Mountains Of My Mind. See (below):

Fantastic!

Watch the rest of the show’s highlights (below):

It’s clear what a great time Ryan had! He could barely keep a straight face!

You’re kidding us! Shakira of all people didn’t like Barbie?!

The Waka Waka singer unleashed the scorching hot take in her new Allure profile on Monday. During a convo about feminism, the question came up about the already beloved film. But Shak disappointed the interviewer by saying:

“I watched it, yeah.”

And then a long pause. Eventually she fired off:

“My sons absolutely hated it. They felt that it was emasculating.”

But that wasn’t all! She’s on the hater train, too! She said:

“And I agree, to a certain extent. I’m raising two boys. I want ’em to feel powerful too [while] respecting women. I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men, to also protect and provide. I believe in giving women all the tools and the trust that we can do it all without losing our essence, without losing our femininity. I think that men have a purpose in society and women have another purpose as well. We complement each other, and that complement should not be lost.”

“Robbing men of their possibility to be men”? “Losing our femininity”?? Uh oh. It kind of sounds like Shakira thought Barbie was woke garbage! Is this woman really team Ben Shapiro?!

That’s pretty upsetting, tbh. We thought the movie pretty specifically mocked toxic masculinity, not that it said men in general were useless. Or in other words, it made fun of LAME GUYS. But if you hear No Scrubs and immediately think, WhY aRe tHeY bEinG mEaN tO Me? Well, we can’t help you there.

Related: Is Shakira Dating This Emily In Paris Hottie?!

Obviously Shakira’s sons are very young, and the movie wasn’t necessarily made for that demo. But adult men — and women — who thought the movie was just anti-man? OR anti-femininity??? We don’t get it.

But honestly we also don’t get how Shakira could be so anti-Barbie when she’s also preaching such an anti-patriarchy message herself! Heck, she told the Allure reporter, when asked about playing the role of the Biblical Eve on the cover of her 2005 album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2:

“Eve was a story created by misogynists to put women in the little box where we have to remain silent, not speak our minds, and not be a catalyst for change. To keep things as they are… I think there’s something refreshing about women when they get to be themselves and be unapologetic. Because we’ve had to apologize so many damn times in the past.”

We mean… preach it, gurl! But like… she also thought Barbie was reductive? She’s definitely not on that Shapiro crybaby wavelength, so what gives?

Well, it may be that word in there we mentioned. It kind of sounds like Shak doesn’t want to be preached to! While speaking about recording her new music after her very public divorce, she explained:

“Creating this album has been a transformation in which I have been reborn as a woman. I have rebuilt myself in the ways I believe are appropriate. No one tells me how to cry or when to cry, no one tells me how to raise my children, no one tells me how I become a better version of myself. I decide that.”

“No one tells me how I become a better version of myself.” Definitely not a plastic doll come to life, right?

But again, even if she didn’t dig the messenger, she’s kind of hammering the same message as far as we can tell. Because she said:

“In the past, when women went through a difficult situation, they were expected to mind their manners, to hide the pain, to cry in silence. That’s over. Now, no one will control us. No one will tell us how to heal, how to clean our wounds.”

Sounds good to us. What do YOU think about Shakira’s read on Barbie? And how it parallels or differs from her own version of feminism?? You can read her full interview for more context HERE!

Robert Downey Jr. is giving Margot Robbie her flowers.

We all know the Barbie star got majorly snubbed by the Oscars, but while some industry members may not be willing to vouch for her, the Iron Man star certainly is. During a SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations sitdown, RDJ honed in one one Barbie scene in particular: America Ferrera‘s famous monologue — yes, the one that landed her a Best Supporting Actress nom. But it wasn’t just her speaking that sold the scene for him…

The 58-year-old said he was dazzled by Margot’s subtle art of just listening:

“I never tire of watching someone just listen on camera. It never fails to impress and remind me how little you need to do to be effective. Just the simplest version of expression, that’s what the camera wants. The closer the camera gets, the more it wants it. Time and time again, it’s demonstrated that it’s super effective.”

So true! Margot had a lot of boisterous moments in the flick, but there’s also something special about her more reined in moments as well, including that moment on the bench, the speech scene, and the finale in which she makes her final choice. No dialogue, yet she’s telling us so much! Robert, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Oppenheimer, also gave it up for America’s performance — and credited director Greta Gerwig, who was also snubbed:

“America has this amazing speech. And by the way she nails it! I’m watching it and go, ‘Wow, that was a really tough one. That’s like a one act play. The whole movie hinges on it.’ It’s the cuts away to Robbie so actively listening that I realize Greta is really on to something here.”

Watch (below):

That face acting is everything!

These ladies seriously deserve all the praise — it’s too bad only 1/3 of them got it… But as Margot put it, “there’s no way it feels sad when you know what it’s worth.”

Margot Robbie is finally opening up about her Oscars snub.

We’ve all heard about it, we’ve all talked about it, and we’ve probably all wondered how the 33-year-old herself feels about not being nominated for Best Actress. After all she gave one of the most astounding, surprising, beautiful performances ever in Barbie — a film everyone on the planet saw, btw! How does it feel to get that kind of acclaim and then no gold? Well, now we have answers.

Related: Billie Eilish Reacts To Her Barbie Best Original Song Nom!

During a SAG-AFTRA panel on Tuesday night, Margot, sitting alongside co-stars Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who DID get nominations, was asked to share her thoughts on the highly talked about snub. She responded with the utmost elegance and appreciation, recognizing everything the film has accomplished as a whole:

“We’re beyond ecstatic that we have eight Academy Award nominations. That’s so wild. We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, or just make some sort of impact, and it’s already done that and some — like, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”

So well said! Plus, making over a BILLION at the box office helps to cushion the blow! LOLz! Besides, that “we” is correct. She does have a nomination herself as Best Picture goes to the film’s producers.

Gesturing to Ryan and America, she added that everyone “getting the nods they’ve had is just incredible.” However, she did take a moment to champion director Greta Gerwig, who was also controversially snubbed:

“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a once in a career, once in a lifetime thing what she pulled off, it really is.”

Say it louder for the people in the back!! But it was a stacked year, and she recognizes that:

“But it’s been an incredible year for all the films, and there’s no way it feels sad when you know what it’s worth.”

For what it’s worth, even Greta does have a nomination — the film’s writing nod, Best Adapted Screenplay. So we guess they can’t be too sour on the whole thing. But it’s still impressive how cool Margot is. After all, we’re still annoyed on her behalf! Watch (below):

Well there you have it! And with so much grace! After everything we’ve heard, we commend it. Ugh, Margot Robbie really is everything!

Barbies may stick together in Barbie Land, but in the real world, Margot Robbie is getting a rude awakening.

Days after the Barbie star and director Greta Gerwig were both overlooked in the Oscars nominations department, the pair are said to be reeling from the controversial snubs. With all its success, you would’ve thought they’d be slam dunk choices for noms. It’s not just the box office — no one expects Super Mario Bros to get Oscar gold. What we mean is, the movie could’ve easily been a cheesy by-the-numbers story to sell dolls, but these two ladies managed to turn it into a nuanced, emotional, feel-good masterpiece about the human experience — specifically, the female experience. Not only did it gross over a BILLION dollars, it was one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year! But while girl power may have been the go-to in the flick, it sounds like the camaraderie ended the second screens went dark.

Related: Eva Mendes Defends Husband Ryan Gosling’s Barbie Oscars Nom!

On Thursday, an insider suggested that one of the major reasons the two creatives were snubbed was the green-eyed monster itself: jealousy! They told The US Sun:

“You have to deal with the simple fact that when a movie makes a billion-plus dollars, people get jealous, even if those people themselves are rich, famous and good-looking movie stars. Margot and Greta had a good number of high-profile supporters, including Gal Gadot and Anne Hathaway, but the absentees are glaring especially when you think about the sheer number of big names they’ve both worked with over the years.”

We’re not liking the sound of this…

The source continued:

“There wasn’t as deep a bench in support as there may have seemed when the movie was selling so many tickets over the summer. I think what you saw this year were a lot of past Oscar-winning actresses just ignore Barbie completely. Margot and Greta are paying a price here with their suddenly dominant status in the industry. That can put a target on the back of your head, especially if important people feel left out.”

So, pretty much, it’s a case of new sheriffs in town — and established industry members don’t like it?! Whoa…

It’s certainly not unheard of for big names to rally behind actors in Oscars campaigns… Remember, actors nominate actors. And stars can really influence those in their field. According to the outlet, Jennifer Aniston was one of the stars who played a big role in that controversial *ahem*grass roots*ahem* campaign to get Andrea Riseborough a nom for To Leslie last year. But when it came to Barbie, the insider claimed the Friends star was just wasn’t “impressed.” They explained:

“I think Jen is simply a lot more impressed with movies like Oppenheimer and Asteroid City than she was with Barbie this year.”

Just last week at the Critics Choice Awards, Jen was asked as “a powerful woman” on the red carpet to read a snippet from America Ferrera’s empowering monologue in the film — which she almost seemed annoyed by! She said, “don’t do this to me,” before grabbing a cue card and reluctantly reading a snippet. After she was done, she dealt the card back with an annoyed expression, grumbling, “Gosh darn it.”

Some could interpret the moment as humorous and self-effacing… but there could be some annoyance read there. You can decide for yourself (below):

The US Sun insider definitely didn’t seem to give her the benefit of the doubt. Their take was severe:

“When prompted to read from the movie’s famous monologue, it was plain to see how unimpressed she was with the material and how overhyped she thinks it is. She’ll play along to a point, but isn’t about to sacrifice her hard-won artistic integrity so that Greta or Margot can get Oscar nominations. To Jen, the most impressive thing about Barbie is probably the money it made.”

We get that take, but Jen also doesn’t HAVE to like the movie… Films are subjective! We mean, we don’t see how someone would dislike Barbie so much — someone who isn’t a whiny man-baby we mean. But there’s someone for every take out there! And she wasn’t the only actress the insider claims had ill feelings towards the flick…

Jen’s The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon is also said to have refused to rally behind Barbie — possibly because at one point she was tapped to star in her own version of a Barbie movie, about inventor Ruth Handler — but ultimately passed:

“It was certainly something Reese looked at back in 2015 before deciding not to get involved. It must have been a hard pill for her to swallow watching Margot make one of the biggest blockbusters of all time from something similar to a project Reese couldn’t find the time to get around to. Reese is supposed to be a much better strategist than this, but Barbie has turned out to be a blind spot that cost her a fortune.”

Oof…

Without the support of Jen and Reese, who’ve been Hollywood mainstays since the ’90s, the source argues it became much more of an uphill battle for Margot and Greta to land coveted awards spots:

“Jen and Reese are much more plugged into the business and have deeper friend networks that, when activated, can turn the tide and create a groundswell. But it has to be around a project they genuinely believe in and unfortunately, Barbie wasn’t it.”

Well, good thing they have Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera on their side.

The insider also named Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Martin Scorsese as stars who turned their noses up at the film. Whoa!

What are YOUR thoughts here, Perezcious readers? Do you buy into the jealous conspiracy against the biggest movie of 2023? Or is the answer the simpler, more conventional wisdom… that the Oscars just don’t respect comedy as much as straight drama??

Billie Eilish is Oscar-nominated for her Barbie song, but she couldn’t have done it without Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig!

On Tuesday, the 22-year-old reacted to her 2023 hit What Was I Made For? receiving a Best Original Song nom. A big achievement!! But like other prominent faces of the Barbie movie, she didn’t skimp out on giving its director and star/producer their flowers.

Related: Former Lady GaGa Dancer Says He Lost 70% Of Hearing Because Of Alleged Mistreatment?!

On Instagram, the Happier Than Ever singer shared a picture of her and Margot embraced in a tight hug followed by a second slide of the scene in Barbie in which her song plays. She included a thankful message from herself and her brother and consistent collaborator Finneas O’Connell:

“We are so incredibly honored to receive a nomination for ‘What Was I Made For?’ As lifelong fans of film, music in film and the Academy Awards, this means everything to us. We are so grateful to the Academy, its members, and to be recognized alongside so many songwriters that we respect and admire.”

The pair then gave a shout out to Greta, who didn’t receive a Best Director nom, and her husband and screenwriting partner Noah Baumbach:

“Our deepest gratitude and thanks go out to the incomparable Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach for their genius vision and execution, the entire Barbie cast and crew, Lucky Chap Entertainment and the Warner Bros. Pictures team.”

They also made mention of musical collaborators Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt for their contributions as well:

“Thank you to Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt for weaving our song into the fabric and heart of this film so well.”

Lastly, the brother-sister duo gave a massive thanks to Margot, who was controversially snubbed from receiving a Best Actress nomination:

“And a special shout out to Margot Robbie for her incredible foresight as a producer and brilliant performance that resonated with us so profoundly when writing this song. We are truly honored. Thank you.”

This is Billie and Finneas’ second Oscar nomination, with them winning the award for Best Original Song for their James Bond hit No Time To Die in 2022. So successful and SO young!

Still, the Barbie fallout persists far beyond Billie. Fans were shocked on Tuesday when the nominations were revealed and Ryan Gosling got a Best Supporting Actor nod for Ken, but Margot didn’t receive any cred for Barbie — which was, of course, a major point in the movie. Ryan and co-star America Ferrera, who received a Best Supporting Actress nom for her role in the film, subsequently SLAMMED the Academy for their decision.

It seems like everyone but Greta and Margot got their recognition, to be honest… But what are YOUR thoughts, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments down below!

Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera are just as upset as the rest of us over this year’s Oscars nominations!

Ever since the Barbie movie came out, everyone believed Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig would get nominated at the Academy Awards this year. Not only was it a massive success at the box office, arguably saving the movie theater business after the pandemic kept audiences away, but their work on-camera and off-camera created a film that deeply resonated with people worldwide. So the two women seemed like a shoo-in to get noms!

Barbie made audiences *feel* way more than “serious” movies.

But when the nominations dropped earlier today, people immediately noticed two glaring omissions. Margot failed to earn a nomination in the Best Actress category, while Greta was out of the running for Best Director. Naturally, fans of the Barbie movie were disappointed and shocked by snubs. And they weren’t alone in their feelings.

Related: Jamie Foxx Spotted On Back In Action Set For The First Time Since Health Scare

Ryan, who scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role as Ken in the film, expressed his sadness over the news. He told People in a statement:

“There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.”

The 43-year-old actress noted that his disappointment over their lack of nominations in the acting and directing categories “would be an understatement,” adding:

“Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.”

While Ryan isn’t happy with how the nominations turned out, he is proud of not only himself but co-star, America Ferrera, who is in the running for Best Supporting Actress this year:

“I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.”

Like Ryan, America also “was incredibly disappointed” Greta and Margot were snubbed! She told Variety:

“Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list.”

And The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star took a moment to praise Margot as well, saying:

“What Margot achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable. One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy, but Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen, and it was one of the honors of my career to get to witness her pull off the amazing performance she did. She brings so much heart and humor and depth and joy and fun to the character. In my book, she’s a master.”

Although Barbie made history as one of three films directed by a woman to earn a best picture nod, America just wants to see female directors “acknowledged” for their great work moving forward:

“It’s as it should be. Women filmmakers telling all different kinds of stories that resonate in different ways in the culture is the goal. I would love to see even even more female-directed movies on the list and to see more female directors acknowledged for making the best cinema of the year.”

It’s a real shame the Academy didn’t give Margot and Greta the recognition they deserved for their work on this film. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments below.

Why Did The Oscars Really SNUB Margot Robbie? Wow. The Oscar nominations dropped Tuesday morning, and there were some pretty big omissions — led, of course, by the magical Margot Robbie, who inexplicably got shut out of the Best Actress race.

Or… was it so inexplicable?

Video: Rob Lowe Did The Cruelest Thing To Bradley Cooper

We actually think we know why she didn’t get nominated. And why these others didn’t, too! So strap in and check out our list of Oscar snubs AND why we figure they got the gold cold shoulder (below)!

Margot Robbie – Barbie

Look, Barbie got the Best Picture nom. And Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera got the nods for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. But how is everyone forgetting the gift of a performance in the center of this amazing movie?! Margot Robbie had to craft a journey from being a shallow, plastic doll to becoming human — with all the pain and joy that entails. And she made us all believe every second without CG or anything — just the special effect of phenomenal acting. She’s hilarious, she’s heartbreaking, she’s everything! He’s just Ken! Seriously, it’s one of the great onscreen performances and will be remembered for decades to come. This is a real travesty.

Why?

This feels like Olde Oscars thinking to us. Barbie isn’t seen as a “serious” movie. It’s fine to give comedies screenplay and supporting awards — but never the BIG ones, right? Total bias towards drama, towards the “serious.” Even when a big, colorful, silly movie makes us all think and feel more than most dramas this year, it still just isn’t in contention for the biggest awards. And that’s the same reason Greta Gerwig isn’t up for director.

Past Lives

Thankfully, this beautiful little film made it under the wire since there are 10 Best Picture slots this year. But how do you agree how amazing the personal story is without nominating any of the persons?! The cast is basically just three people — Greta LeeTeo Yoo, and John Magaro — and in a perfect world, at least one or two would have gotten acting recognition. We know Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor were a stacked categories this year, but this feels fundamentally wrong. Not to mention writer-director Celine Song, who gorgeously crafted this thing from top to bottom! Original Screenplay for her seems like a weak consolation prize. She should be in the Director category for sure.

Why?

Is it too late to say racism? We know in a post-Parasite world, many will brush off that idea, but between Greta Lee and the next actor on our list, the Asian acting nominees really took a hit this year.

But if we had to put forth a more academic guess, we’d say maybe the acting is just too real. Too subtle. Too nuanced. No huge punching-the-wall, snot-crying moments for the reel.

Charles Melton – May December

Speaking of big ugly crying Oscar moments, how did Charles Melton‘s performance get overlooked? This is what Academy dreams are made of! Obviously Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore were great as per usual, but Melton really blew away the critics and early on in the season seemed a sure thing. What happened??

Why?

Frankly, two words. Vili Fualaau. The real person whose scandal this story was inspired by came out against the film, leading to a discussion about the ethics of basing fictional stories on real life events — as if that isn’t most movies. But we reckon that commentary really hurt the movie’s chances in a crowded year.

Wonka

How did this delightful musical — that was way better than anyone expected — not get a nod for Best Original Song? Hatful of Dreams is a bona fide banger and For A Moment is just, well, cue the waterworks.

Why?

OK, first off this category is ALWAYS messed up, with crazy politics coming into it. Seriously, look up the scandals. The only thing we can figure with this one is, not enough voters saw the movie in time, as it only came out this Christmas. Maybe too many people expected it to be a cynical cash-in on stale IP? Or didn’t even realize it was a musical?? But this one will have legs — and go down as a mistake to not have received a single song nomination.

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie

This documentary about Michael J. Fox‘s skyrocketing career — and how it all exploded when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s — is a real tour-de-force. We thought for sure it would get a Best Documentary Feature nod.

Why?

This one is really insidious. Still won four Emmys. And the Oscars don’t like to feel polluted by TV — so anything that wins an Emmy is far less likely to be nominated for an Oscar. So unfair…

Barry Keoghan – Saltburn

Many viewers have been mixed on this bombastic, frankly INSANE movie. But one thing everyone agrees on is the fact Barry Keoghan gave it his all. He didn’t hold anything back, he bared his… well… everything. He was so much in the conversation the past month we really thought he’d get in with a Best Actor nomination.

Why?

Like we said, the movie was less universally acclaimed than Barry’s part in it. We’re guessing those who were sour on the film overall were less willing to give it gold of any kind, even for that performance.

Daniel Pemberton – Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

When it comes to Best Score, no one impressed us more this year than Daniel Pemberton. At first listen, the score is moving, thrilling, everything a maximalist film score should be. Great. But the more you listen, the more you hear how complex it is at the same time! Every character has a theme, every alternate universe has a theme, and they all sound different — yet overlap and weave together, the same as the heroes of the film. It also includes such disparate instruments as orchestra, electric guitar, elephants trumpeting, and geese honking. It’s a score of the highest difficulty, and Pemberton nailed it.

Why?

This is an easy one, unfortunately. The Oscars do not like giving awards to cartoons. After Beauty and the Beast got nominated for Best Picture, they created a whole new category just to make sure that never happened again (though a couple eventually snuck in later). Animated films aren’t even eligible for acting noms, and they rarely get any other attention.

Well, that’s it for us! Who were your biggest Oscar snubs this year?

Jo Koy’s Golden Globes monologue was so not fetch!

In the days following the awards ceremony, the host has taken heat for some of the jokes he made throughout the night… Aside from just bombing, we mean. From reducing the brilliance of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie to being “based on a plastic doll with big boobies,” to quipping about Taylor Swift‘s air time on NFL games — which she was NOT happy about — viewers noted women were a hot topic for him. And now he has to suffer the wrath of Regina George!

In TikTok posted to the official Today with Hoda & Jenna page earlier this week, the cast of the new musical version of Mean Girls were asked about their “ins and outs” for the new year. And Reneé Rapp, who plays the head of the plastics, made her opinion about the comedian’s monologue known. She spilled:

“My out, first, is the man that yelled at me this morning at 8:00 a.m. and told me to smile. Go to hell.”

LOLz! Then, without naming names, she then took aim at Jo:

“And also my out is the man that was making a bunch of jokes about, like, women last night at the Golden Globes.”
