Margot Robbie Breaks Silence Over Controversial Oscars Snub!

Margot Robbie is finally opening up about her Oscars snub.

We’ve all heard about it, we’ve all talked about it, and we’ve probably all wondered how the 33-year-old herself feels about not being nominated for Best Actress. After all she gave one of the most astounding, surprising, beautiful performances ever in Barbie — a film everyone on the planet saw, btw! How does it feel to get that kind of acclaim and then no gold? Well, now we have answers.

During a SAG-AFTRA panel on Tuesday night, Margot, sitting alongside co-stars Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who DID get nominations, was asked to share her thoughts on the highly talked about snub. She responded with the utmost elegance and appreciation, recognizing everything the film has accomplished as a whole:

“We’re beyond ecstatic that we have eight Academy Award nominations. That’s so wild. We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, or just make some sort of impact, and it’s already done that and some — like, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”

So well said! Plus, making over a BILLION at the box office helps to cushion the blow! LOLz! Besides, that “we” is correct. She does have a nomination herself as Best Picture goes to the film’s producers.

Gesturing to Ryan and America, she added that everyone “getting the nods they’ve had is just incredible.” However, she did take a moment to champion director Greta Gerwig, who was also controversially snubbed:

“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a once in a career, once in a lifetime thing what she pulled off, it really is.”

Say it louder for the people in the back!! But it was a stacked year, and she recognizes that:

“But it’s been an incredible year for all the films, and there’s no way it feels sad when you know what it’s worth.”

For what it’s worth, even Greta does have a nomination — the film’s writing nod, Best Adapted Screenplay. So we guess they can’t be too sour on the whole thing. But it’s still impressive how cool Margot is. After all, we’re still annoyed on her behalf! Watch (below):

Well there you have it! And with so much grace! After everything we’ve heard, we commend it. Ugh, Margot Robbie really is everything!
