In case you missed it, the Blossom alum’s estranged wife, Samantha Cope, filed for divorce after only two years of marriage. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason, nothing too shocking. However, we soon learned something more scandalous possibly happened that caused the breakup! It came out that Joey allegedly had an affair with his Socked In For Christmas co-star, Melina Alves! What?!

The shocking accusation came from her estranged husband, Edward Rider, in his divorce documents filed last month! He claimed he found out about the cheating in late March.

As for Samantha? She has not publicly addressed the affair rumors. However, a source for People claimed last week that Joey “continued to date Melina even after Samantha found out about it and confronted him.” So awful! The insider then claimed the 37-year-old actress “wanted to go to counseling” afterward, but he “fooled their counselor” and got “ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out” instead. We wouldn’t blame Samantha if this is why she left Joey! This sounds like a horrible situation! Who treats their wife so callously? Jeez!

However, a source then told the outlet on Sunday that “infidelity isn’t the cause” of their divorce “not by a long shot.” Well, it’s not exactly a denial of the allegations! But you know who is flat-out denying them now? The alleged mistress herself!

On Wednesday, Melina Alves took to Instagram to insist “there was no sexual relationship” between her and Joey while filming the holiday movie. Instead, she says they just struck up a “meaningful friendship” on set. Hmm. She wrote:

“It is with a deep sadness and heavy heart that I must address the recent allegations about the relationship between myself and Joey Lawrence, which have unfortunately become a public matter. As a private person, it is deeply distressing to see such personal and sensitive issues being discussed so openly and inaccurately. First and foremost, I want to clarify that there was no sexual relationship between Joey and myself while we were on set filming Socked in for Christmas. Our relationship was a meaningful friendship that developed naturally due to the many similarities in our personal situations. When I met Joey, I was immediately struck by his kindness, warmth and genuine character. We found common ground in our shared experiences, which led to a strong supportive friendship that has been a source of strength for both of us.”

OK, obviously the way she’s describing Joey is very… intimate. But we also can’t just drive by this wording here. She says “there was no sexual relationship between Joey and myself while we were on set filming Socked in for Christmas.” While we were on set filming. That’s a hell of a qualifier, right? She’s not saying “there is no sexual relationship” or “there has been no sexual relationship.” She’s saying specifically not at that time and place. It feels like the way a politician answers a question, right? Someone really cooked that answer for legal reasons, right??

When it comes to her own marriage, Melina claimed she and Edward have been “estranged” since January 2023 and “living in separate rooms” since then:

“Our marriage had been struggling for some time, and the separation was a necessary step for both of us. I have always valued my privacy, and it is incredibly painful to have such personal matters thrust into the public eye in a way that has caused harm not only to me but also to Joey, who has been unjustly dragged into this situation.”

Melina wrapped up the lengthy post, noting she made the “difficult and deeply personal decision” to obtain a temporary restraining order against her ex. Whoa. She doesn’t provide more explanation into her decision, other than to say Edward “has presented situations that necessitated” her to get the restraining order and “protect” herself during “a time of vulnerability.” Read the full statement (below):

Do you think Joey and Melina were really pals and nothing more? Melina’s estranged hubby doesn’t! Sources close to Edward told TMZ on Wednesday her statement about them being estranged is BS! In fact, the pair allegedly were still living together earlier this year. We mean, she did note they were “living in separate rooms” under the same roof — not living separately in different houses. So both could be true. Just saying!

However, the insiders claim she went “ballistic” when he filed to end their marriage and ran to the court to get the restraining order, which he thinks will be thrown out. We’ll see! Days later, reports surfaced alleging Joey has been involved in an ongoing affair with his Socked in for Christmas co-star Melina Alves, who is also apparently going through a divorce because of the infidelity. A source later revealed Samantha attempted therapy with Joey, but that he pretty much derailed any chance of patching up their marriage. It’s super sad stuff. You can read more about it HERE.

But now, an insider is claiming Joey’s alleged affair was NOT what ruined his and Samatha’s relationship!

On Sunday, a source told People the pair “had troubles from the beginning of their relationship.” Hmmm. Well it did seem rather rushed… We mean, it was just three months after Joey finalized his divorce from ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson!

The source claimed:

“Infidelity isn’t the cause … not by a long shot.”

Inneresting… The source didn’t necessarily deny the infidelity — just the part about it being the reason he and Samantha are splitting up.

The insider added:

“[Joey] had gotten to a point where he had hit his limit with defending his kids, his mom and his family to Samantha.”

There weren’t many other details regarding that claim, specifically, but the Blossom star shares daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, with ex-wife Chandie.

As for Samantha seeking sole custody of their daughter Dylan, the source claimed Joey is “torn up.” They explained:

“Joey loves his kids. He is a great dad and his daughters adore him. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for those girls, and that includes Dylan too. He prides himself on being very involved with family and putting family first always. He loves Dylan. He’s torn up that it’s going to be difficult to co-parent Dylan with the demands Samantha has made. Joey is a man of integrity. He is a hard worker. He is a professional.”

A the end of the day, though, the insider noted the 48-year-old is “relieved the marriage is over because he can breathe … He can be himself. He’s taking the time to make up for all of the lost time that he had with his children.”

So it sounds like his and Samantha’s marriage drove a wedge between his relationship with his oldest daughters. Well, the proximity of his relationship with her and their mom Chandie, alone, would likely be enough to ruffle feathers. But we guess we’ll just have to wait for more specific deets.

Unfortunately, there is a big reason for Samantha’s — and it’s not just because of her divorce from Joey. It’s also the alleged reason behind it! We learned this week that the 48-year-old actor allegedly cheated on her with his co-star, Melina Alves, from the upcoming film Socked In For Christmas. According to TMZ, her husband, Edward Rider, accused her of having an extramarital affair with Joey in divorce documents he filed in July. He allegedly found out about their affair in late March. He claimed the cheating happened “at various other times and places.”

As for Samantha? She has not publicly addressed the alleged infidelity. However, we finally got more insight into her side of the story. A source close to the former couple told People on Friday that Samantha found out about Joey’s relationship with Melina at some point — and he CONTINUED to see his mistress afterward! What! They explained:

“Joey met Melina Alves on the set of their movie, where she was a producer. He then love-bombed her just like he love-bombed Samantha. He continued to date Melina even after Samantha found out about it and confronted him.”

According to TMZ on Thursday, a man named Edward Rider accused his estranged wife Melina Alves of having an extramarital affair with Joey in his own divorce documents filed in New Jersey in late July — which was a few weeks before Samantha officially pulled the plug on their marriage! OMG! The husband claimed in the docs that he discovered Joey and Melina were sleeping with each other in late March.

Joey and Melina were co-stars in the upcoming Hallmark-ish Christmas rom com Socked In For Christmas! Joey is the star of the film, while Melina is a writer and also has an acting credit on the project. Edward only said they carried out their affair in California — presumably where they filmed. And Edward claimed it wasn’t just a short fling, either! It went on for a while! In the court documents, the hubby states he believes Joey and Melina’s affair went on “at various other times and places.” Jeez!

So based on the timeline provided, the Melissa & Joey alum was still with the 37-year-old actress — who he shares daughter Dylan Rose — while hooking up with Melina! Damn! Did Samantha find out about his alleged infidelity around that time? Is that why she is really divorcing Joey? If the 37-year-old actress didn’t know before, she does know! At this time, neither of the soon-to-be exes addressed the accusations. Melina has also remained silent on the allegation as well.

According to docs obtained by  TMZ, Samantha listed the soon-to-be exes’ date of separation as June 7 of this year, citing the age-old “irreconcilable differences.” She’s also apparently asked the court to block both her AND her estranged husband from receiving spousal support, and wants sole custody of their daughter Dylan Rose, whom they just welcomed last year.

Damn…

According to the docs, she is willing to give Joey visitation rights, but wants to wait until the child is 3 years old for her to be allowed to stay with her father overnight.

Yikes!! Sounds like she doesn’t trust him as a parent!

During an episode of his Brotherly Love podcast on Thursday, the 43-year-old actor was talking about the #MeToo movement with his brothers and co-hosts Joey and Andrew Lawrence when he opened up about the sexual harassment he’s faced in Hollywood over the years. He said:

“There’s been many times in my life where I’ve been propositioned to get a huge role.”

Matthew then went on to share one incident when a “prominent Oscar award-winning director” allegedly offered him a role in a Marvel movie – but only if he stripped and let the person take pictures of him. WTF?! When the Boy Meets World alum refused and left the hotel, he claimed his agency at the time fired him. Again, what the f**k?!! Without naming names of who was involved in this disturbing encounter, Matthew recalled:

“I’ve lost my agency because I went to the hotel room, which I can’t believe they would send me to, of a very prominent Oscar award-winning director who showed up in his robe, asked me to take my clothes off, and said he needed to take Polaroids of me. And then if I did X, Y, and Z, I would be the next Marvel character. I didn’t do that, and my agency fired me because I left this director’s room.”

So, so awful. The Mrs. Doubtfire star acknowledged “a lot of my other male friends” had similar experiences in the industry. However, he noted there is a “double standard” when male stars come forward with sexual harassment claims versus female stars. Using Terry Crews’ 2017 groping claims against WME agent Adam Venit as an example, Matthew explains:

“Terry Crews comes out and says it; people are laughing at him. People don’t support him. They kick him out. Why? Because he’s a man that represents masculinity, and I think our society is less ready to hear that situation going on with men than they are with women.”

It would appear that’s not the only pool he’s plunging into as he can be seen getting wet ‘n’ wild with none other than Chilli. Yes, Chilli. As in, TLC. We know, right?! Somewhere there is a ’90s kid who shipped this odd coupling for years, and we hope they are doing backflips right now!

The Boy Meets World star was spotted with the singer, whose real name is Rozanda Thomas, in Hawaii on Monday where paps managed to snap some shots of the two spending quality time together. Sources told TMZ, who have the pics HERE, that the duo enjoyed some “intense convos” while relaxing on beach chairs before cooling off in the crystal blue waters.

Sounds nice!! We wonder if they were chasing any Waterfalls, LOLz! For real though, is this a thing?? Are they an item?!?

Well… Maybe not so fast. A rep for the 51-year-old singer clarified that she is NOT dating the Mrs. Doubtfire alum — rather the two are platonic friends just enjoying a beach hangout. The confidant added that Chilli had a TLC show on the island, and Matthew simply came to watch with some buddies.

This all comes in the wake of the 42-year-old’s split from his ex-wife, who decided to call it quits earlier this year. Cheryl and Matt made headlines after rekindling their romance in 2017 — 10 years after they initially dated in 2007 — following his older brother Joey Lawrence’s appearance on season three of the professional dancer’s show, Dancing with the Stars.

The two wed in 2019, but after three years of marriage it just didn’t pan out. Us Weekly broke the news the 38-year-old dancer had filed for divorce from Matthew in February of this year, citing “irreconcilable differences” and naming January 7 as the official date of separation.

Dating, breaking up, back together a decade later only to divorce after 3 years… Talk about a roller coaster romance! It’s sad the two couldn’t make it work on their second go ’round, but we’re happy they’re opting to prioritize themselves. We all remember what Cheryl had to say about orgasms back in June, so maybe she’s just trying to up her standards. Sounds like she’s the one chasing waterfalls, LOLz!

The DWTS alum hopped on Instagram back in February to update fans on the split, explaining: 

“I know I have always said I’m an open book with you guys, I do strive to be, and in writing this I’ve realized there really isn’t an easy way to announce that my marriage is ending. I hope you can understand that I will not be commenting any further at this time and am asking for understanding and privacy. Thank you all for all the kind words and support you’ve given me.”

Not too long after, a source told Us Weekly that the split “was not about kids,” but rather that “Cheryl’s taking this time to focus on next steps and focus on her mental health.”

Matthew had previously told the site in 2020 that their relationship success was due to “constant communication.” As of now, he still follows his ex-wife on IG, while she has seemingly severed all ties from him, including her follow. Ouch.

The 46-year-old star tied the knot with 34-year-old actress Samantha Cope on Sunday in a “romantic outdoor ceremony” at the Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, California. So reports People, which spoke to the Melissa & Joey alum about his new bride and their close connection!

Beaming about his decision to marry Cope just a few short weeks after his divorce was finalized back in February, Joey explained to the outlet:

“It just feels so right. Life can be challenging at times, but when God gives you the right person, it’s worth it.”

Oof, feels like kind of a shady way to put it from the perspective of the mother of his children! Joey was blessed with “the right person” when they met while filming a Lifetime thriller called A Deadly Deed back in 2021. That was about a year after the Blossom alum first filed for divorce. He had known Chandie since he was 16 years old, and they were married for almost 15 years before the split, sharing two daughters. We guess after all that time it just didn’t feel “so right” anymore?

(Innerestingly, the marriage to Chandie also happened quite quickly, just weeks after his divorce from Michelle Vella in 2005.)

Samantha also spoke to the mag about her new husband. The actress said things clicked for her very quickly after initially being introduced to the sitcom veteran on set:

“From day one, it was such a safe place to be myself. He loves everything about me and celebrates all those weird quirks about me. I was so blessed to be in a position to receive that. Two weeks in, I was like, ‘I will be with you forever.'”

Wow!

She ain’t kiddin’! She shared a post of the two with the #forever hashtag pretty darn early in the relationship!

Hey, sometimes when you know, you just know! Even coming so soon off a prior marriage!

Joey added this in that earlier convo, too:

“When you meet the right person, if you’re lucky enough, it cuts to the chase so quick. I have somebody who is like-minded and has the same love language and we communicate the same way. That’s super important. And I am so thankful.”

There’s that “right person” wording again. Well, we certainly hope this does turn out to be the best thing for everyone!
