Ben Affleck‘s rumored new girlfriend Kick Kennedy has a strange backstory for an environmental activist!

It’s no secret that Kick’s father Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has shared some pretty unusual tales amid his failed presidential run, but this one that his own daughter revealed years ago?? It’s maybe the grossest… even potentially incriminating!!

Back in 2012, Kick reflected on her childhood with Town & Country, sharing a story that demonstrated how she inherited her father’s similar “eccentric environmentalism,” as the outlet put it. When she was just 6, she claimed in the profile, a whale washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Her father loved to study animal skulls and skeletons, so he raced down to the beach — to get the whale’s head! Yes, you read that right. He drove down, with the kids, and he CUT OFF THE WHALE’S HEAD WITH A CHAINSAW! Yikes!

Remember, Kick was there, just a little girl! So he not only decided to cut off this whale’s head, which sounds ghoulish enough… He brought his kids along! ICK!

RFK then bungee-corded it to the family’s minivan — where it stayed for a five-hour drive to Mount Kisco, New York. OMG! The 36-year-old recalled riding down home with this thing on the roof:

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet. We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”

Jeez!!

How was that normal?! This is an absurd story in and of itself, but as mentioned, it could be illegal, too!!

The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund is up in arms now that this story has resurfaced. The group’s national political director, Brett Hartl, even urged the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to investigate. He wrote a letter to government officials on Monday, noting it’s illegal to possess “any part of an animal” protected by the Marine Mammal Protection and Endangered Species acts, which includes several whale species. He noted that “continued possession of any whale skull” would be an ongoing violation of the law.

Also, transporting a skull across state lines would be a “felony violation” of the 1900 Lacey Act, “which prohibits the transportation of any wildlife, dead or alive, that was reduced to possession in violation of any state, federal or international regulation or law.” Per Axios, Brett continued:

“Normally, an unverified anecdote would not provide sufficient evidence as the basis for conducting an investigation.”

But wild animal stories like this aren’t exactly new for this hopeful politician:

“However, Mr. Kennedy has admitted that he has recklessly — and with no regard to legal requirements — taken other species of wildlife for his own personal benefit.”

Earlier this month, before dropping out of the presidential race, Robert revealed he covered up the death of a bear after a woman hit and killed it. He’d planned to “skin” and eat the bear cub, but when he ran out of time to go home and drop the dead animal off before other plans, he decided to leave it in Central Park instead, where he made it look like the creature got hit by a bike. Yeah, he openly admitted to all of this (below), so that’s why this activist group is so concerned!

This is after that photo of him allegedly eating a roasted dog came out… This is just… wow. Three dead animal stories in just a few months. And we wouldn’t even have heard of this one if Kick hadn’t apparently started dating Ben Affleck! So the question comes to mind…

While they’re hoping for a full investigation and any necessary consequences, at the very least, the organization wants RFK Jr. to surrender “any and all illegally obtained wildlife that he continues to possess.” So far, he hasn’t reacted to his renewed controversy. While Ben is denying having any involvement with Kick, this is sure one inneresting look at his potential new in-laws! LOLz!! Reactions?! Sound OFF (below)!

ICYMI, on the Season 4 premiere of The Kardashians, Koko revealed she’s got a fear of whales! Yes, it’s a real thing, it’s called cetaphobia. In the show, the KarJenners took a vacay down to the Mexican coast to see the whales, but the 39-year-old socialite wasn’t having it! She was totally scared the whole time, and exclaimed:

“I am really freaking out … I feel like I am going to cry. I don’t think I am comfortable seeing it.”

On X (Twitter) Friday, she quote-tweeted a fan who said they felt “seen” by her extreme fear, and replied:

“I understand that it’s a very irrational fear, but I can’t control my phobia. It’s so bad that I can’t even watch them on videos my sisters DM whale videos because they find it funny lol”

The Good American founder should NOT have said her sisters prank her, though — because it just got the rest of the internet in on the joke!

Her replies were suddenly filled with photos and videos of whales, prompting her to tweet:

“Can you guys please stop sending me whale tweets. I’m going to log off. It’s too much lol I’m really getting uncomfortable”

She then doubled down on the explanation of her fear, begging for trolls to stop coming for her:

“This has been a phobia of mine for years. I don’t want anything bad to happen to whales and I know the phobia is totally irrational, but we don’t pick our phobias. I low-key have a fear of the ocean, but a whale I can’t even look at, it freaks me out so much.”

Atkinson believes this could be the orcas’ version of a human wake or funeral.

“Ceremonies can go on for days to honor and mourn the loss of a loved one… I think that what you’re seeing is the depth of importance of this calf and the grief of the mother and the family.”

Unfortunately, the calf isn’t the only member of the 75-member family who is enduring a hardship.
According to ABC News, a 4-year-old female orca — known as J-50 — is so emaciated that federal biologists are now weighing several options, from doing nothing to feeding it live salmon dosed with medication.
Michael Milstein, a spokesman with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries, said:

“Everything is on the table. We’re working on every possibility to help… The feeling is it’s quite urgent given the whale’s condition.”

NOAA Fisheries, however, would need federal approval before they put a plan into action.
The Southern Resident killer whale population has not had a successful birth in years. In about 20 years, only 25 percent of the population’s newborns have survived, according to the Center for Whale Research via the Times. Thus, it is important to keep J-50 healthy because she is the future of the population.
Whale experts are collecting fecal samples from both J-35 and J-50 to keep tabs on their health.
The whales are listed as endangered in both the U.S. and Canada.

Former orca trainer Al Garver further described the show to the San Diego Tribune, adding:

“You will still see a whale leaping out of the water. We want to be able to demonstrate behaviors people would see in the wild with the killer whales and their abilities as a top predator in the sea. The vast majority of behaviors people have seen in our shows will be very suitable for demonstrating that.”

But wait… how is this an improvement from the Shamu show if whales are still performing tricks and leaping out of the water?

SeaWorld’s announcement that it is ending its orca-breeding program came too late for Tilikum, who was bred 21 times├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and 11 of his offspring died before him. He should be the last orca to die in misery at a SeaWorld abusement park. Tilikum died like he lived: miserable & alone. At just 3 years old, he was kidnapped from his family in the wild & stuck in a concrete cell. He was forced to perform meaningless tricks, sexually manipulated, & used as a sperm bank to breed more orcas for #SeaWorld. He grew so big in his tiny tank that he could not escape the aggressive, incompatible orcas who would leave him torn up & bloodied. His teeth were worn to nubs from chewing underwater prison bars. The constant pain & stress drove Tilikum to kill 3 humans ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ including trainer Dawn Brancheau. It’s no wonder Tilikum succumbed to mental illness under such conditions, & then finally, to incurable physical illness. His life was tragic and filled with pain, and the lives of the animals forced to remain in SeaWorld’s tanks and exhibits will be as well. He died without ever again knowing freedom. The other study recorded an aggressive episode only once every 234 hours ├óΓé¼┬ª This does not include the damage she has self-inflicted from abnormal and repetitive behaviors such as banging her head on the concrete tanks. Additionally, Morgan is wearing her teeth down from chewing on the concrete. Teeth wear in captive orca often leads to infections.”

The park claims, of course, that the behavior isn’t a stressful indicator, but rather one of “pent up sexual energy,” which, yeah, riiiiiiight…

“SeaWorld has been listening and we’re changing. Society is changing and we’re changing with it. SeaWorld is finding new ways to continue to deliver on our purpose to inspire all our guests to take action to protect wild animals and wild places.”

SeaWorld president and CEO Joel Manby addressed the decision in an op-ed piece in the Los Angeles Times, saying the remaining whales would remain in captivity because:

“Most of our orcas were born at SeaWorld, and those that were born in the wild have been in our parks for the majority of their lives. If we release them into the ocean, they will likely die.”

This decision is most likely due to the park being pressured by the California Coastal Commission who approved a $100 million expansion at San Diego’s SeaWorld location — but only if they stopped their captive breeding program.

At the time, Manby said the ruling on the funding was “inhumane” — so apparently he’s changed his tune only to try and help public perception.
As a result of the decision, animal rights activists are obviously thrilled. Naomi Rose, a marine mammal scientist at the Animal Welfare Institute, said the announcement is:

“…a monumental and important first step forward in achieving a more humane business model.”

“We are saddened to report that over the past few weeks, Tilikum’s behavior has become increasingly lethargic, and the SeaWorld veterinary and animal care teams are concerned that his health is beginning to deteriorate. The suspected bacteria is very resistant to treatment and a cure for his illness has not been found.”

The roughly 35-year-old animal has lived at SeaWorld for 23 years, captured from his wild family when he was just two years old.

During his captivity, the whale has been involved in at least three human deaths — including the 2010 death of park trainer Dawn Brancheau, who one day was pulled into the water by Tilikum and aggressively played with until she died.
After Dawn’s death, Tilikum was isolated from the rest of the whales, but kept at the center of SeaWorld’s artificial insemination program — he’s fathered 21 of the park’s calves, only half of which are still alive today.
Though it sounds like the orca won’t make it, some have not given up hope.
