The mom of five stopped by Brian’s Oldish podcast on Monday, and the two really dove into the 18-year period between when Beverly Hills, 90210 wrapped and when they reconnected. Such a long hiatus for a friendship! We’re glad they reconnected before it was too late…

Thinking back to one of their final conversations around 2000 when the show ended, Tori explained:

“I remember our last conversation and the last thing we said to each other before those 18 years. I was crying. I remember crying that we were going to lose touch because we were so close. It was almost like going through a divorce or something.”

To Brian, the show ending didn’t mean they had to sever ties. But, amid her relationship with her ex-boyfriend and former co-star Vincent Young, he felt Tori withdrew:

“What I remember is going by Vincent’s house to see you multiple days after we wrapped and trying to keep a connection going. But it got to the point where I just never got that from you.”

And that’s not the extent of it! Years later during a “90210 DVD release party,” the distance continued as they were both with their respective partners at the time — Dean McDermott and Megan Fox:

“You were married to Dean and I was with Megan when we were still just dating — you guys got there and you never said hello to me once. I just kept missing you guys and then you were gone.”

Hmm. Is he implying their significant others didn’t want them hanging out either? Just how close were they?? Well, they dated in real life earlier in 90210’s run and Tori has been very vocal about her feelings toward BAG. So we can understand exes being a little wary…

Unfortunately neither reached out, so each felt the cold shoulder. Brian explained:

“It was just this thing of like, ‘She just doesn’t want to be my friend.’ I genuinely felt that way. I tried to visit you and I would call you. When that wasn’t reciprocated and so I gave up. I didn’t know what was going on in your life.”

Yikes! But it seems the distance predated Dean and Megan. We mentioned the Vincent Young of it all. And Tori squarely blames that relationship for her losing touch:

“On my part, I lost myself in that relationship [with Vincent] again as I had done previously in relationships. That relationship was not a good relationship for me and toward the end I got wrapped up and things weren’t good.”

And she wasn’t the only one who she felt was consumed by love! Tori said Brian’s relationship with ex Vanessa Marcil was a major part of why she took a step back from their friendship:

“That relationship was frustrating to see from a friend’s perspective who loves someone so much. To see what is going on and see how your friend is treated and not be OK with it.”

Shots fired! She continued that she knew she couldn’t step in:

“But also knowing that you can’t really say anything because the person has to go through their own experience and go on their journey.”

Tori added:

“I shied away from you because you weren’t a fan of [my] relationship [with Vincent]. You had a good working relationship with Vincent but I don’t think you felt like our personal relationship was something that was correct for me. My process was different and I would shy away from those that would really fight for me. I never stopped thinking about you and never stopped wanting to reach out and reconnect.”

Brian responded:

“I still showed up. I had come to terms with knowing that wasn’t a good relationship but you are my sister so there is no cut-off.”

So was it how they felt about each other’s partners? Or how the partners felt about their history and vibe together? Hmm…

Back in June 2023, after months of speculation they were on rocky ground, Dean revealed on Instagram that the pair decided to go their “separate ways” after 18 years of marriage. He wrote at the time:

“It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own. We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness.”

The shocking post wasn’t up for long! Dean ended up deleting it shortly afterward. For a long time, we assumed Tori demanded the Chopped Canada host take it down! But the story is more complicated.

Tori later revealed the pair got into a marriage-ending fight right before the announcement. While Dean allegedly threatened a divorce “1 million times” throughout their relationship, he never followed through with it… until last year when he dropped the public post. However, he didn’t give her a heads-up! Nor the rest of the fam!

Their teen daughter Stella ended up being the first to see the post. She broke down in tears out of fear over how her friends and the kids at her school would react to seeing the “embarrassing” news, especially since Dean “put it out there publicly before we’ve dealt with it.” It turned out she was the one who forced him to remove it!

Tori’s reaction, on the other hand? She wasn’t nearly as upset as her daughter! In fact, she was pretty relieved! Wow! The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum said on Tuesday’s episode of her misSPELLING podcast:

“He was reacting emotionally, and he was still drinking and, you know, he was in that spiral. But I gotta say, when I saw that post — inside, I was like, ‘Oh, thank god.’ Because… I don’t know if I could have done it. I want to do it. I want it to be strong enough.”

Sometimes you need that push to end things, especially when you’ve been together for so long! And it appears their divorce has been the best thing for the both of them! Dean, who has been open about his struggles with alcohol addiction, is now sober. In his healthier state he’s moved on with a woman named Lily Calo. They seem really happy! Tori has even been super supportive of his girlfriend and sobriety journey. All is seemingly well between the exes. Hopefully, things can remain that way! But it all happened because someone finally pulled the damn trigger and announced the divorce.

On Tuesday’s episode of her MisSpelling podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum was joined by Charlie’s ex-wife and baby momma Denise Richards, so it was the perfect time to walk down memory lane and open up about a wild encounter she had with the Two and a Half Men alum. Noting how they used to live in the same building, the 51-year-old dished:

“The door opens, and Charlie is standing there in a button up — I want to say Hawaiian shirt — I don’t even know what it was. He hands me something, he goes, ‘Hot crack pipe.’ I was like, ‘Nope, no thanks.’”

She recalled that she “didn’t see the condo” because “it was very dark” inside, something Denise agreed, noting it was “very dark” in the place. Tori elaborated:

“I mean, literally all the lights were off. And the only lights were, like, people smoking or like doing, I don’t know what was going on, but we went.”

The True Tori alum said that the Hot Shots star was “always very nice” to her when they crossed paths. Denise agreed, saying, “he’s very charming and sweet.” Still, Tori was intimated AF at the party! She continued:

“He brings me into the kitchen and he’s like, ‘Well, anything else?’ I was terrified to take anything else. I was like, ‘I’ll have a drink.’ Then I was like, ‘Oh God. What if there’s something in the drinks?’ I don’t know what to do.” […] I didn’t know. There were so many people there and they were all like, ‘Oh yeah, Charlie, we have this, we have that.’ And I was like, ‘I’m good.’”

She eventually worked up the courage to ask for a soda, she went on:

“He took us around, I believe there were some ladies of the night there.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star chimed in, “Probably, I wouldn’t be surprised.” As for how Tori got the invite, she said her roommate Kevin was close with Charlie, recalling:

“He and Charlie had a lot of … he would go MIA for days.”

Ultimately, the Scary Movie star said she always thought it would be “a good story to tell” one day, concluding:

“That’s my only memory of being there.”

What a memory! Hah!

While she doesn’t have any other stories to share about her time with Charlie, she saw a lot of the action. Denise joked:

“You were there longer than I was. It was a building where a lot of people were up and down that elevator. But that’s OK.”

The podcast host replied:

“I saw the before and I saw the after. That’s all I’m saying.”

That must’ve been something!

As Perezcious readers know, the Anger Management alum — who was married to Denise from 2002 to 2006 — had a wild side leading to a public implosion that cost him his job in 2011, much of which he blames on his addictions at the time. In December, he announced he was six years sober so a lot has changed! While it’s unclear at what point Tori was living near him, she sure had an inneresting perspective on his parties!

That is potentially a hefty bill if they all decide to go down the school path! And with her two eldest — Liam and Stella, 17 and 16, respectively — reaching college age soon, she needs a game plan fast! Her solution? OnlyFans! Tori quipped:

“I’m going to have to go on OnlyFans in order to get them into college.”

William had no clue what the platform was, leading the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum to have to explain:

“Do you know OnlyFans? So, how do you describe OnlyFans? It’s a site. I guess originally it was more women in the field — not sex workers, but along those lines, but now actresses do it? But OnlyFans transformed and now there’s comedians on, there’s chefs on, and it’s videos and people pay, you can subscribe.”

But obviously, you get more cash when you create more risqué and show more skin! Something Tori pointed out:

Once Tori wrapped up her explanation, noting people pay with a “credit card,” “Cash app,” or “PayPal,” William seemed even more confused by the whole platform! Sooo it’s safe to say William has never used OnlyFans! LOLz! Tori just clarified the site was not a fundraising platform and moved on to a new subject! When the momma shared that she gets nervous about recording her podcast, William asked if she ever performed on stage before. And she has! In fact, her stage debut is where she met her first husband Charlie Shanian. Now that she is single again? William has a certain type of partner in particular in mind for Tori, and he hopes she meets that guy in a new production:

“You’ll find a playwright that’s young and handsome and virile.”

However, Tori shut it down thinking he meant to say “viral” — not “virile”:

“I’m 51, so I don’t need a virile man.”

William then wonders if she wants more of a “lackadaisical guy” since she is a “charming young lady” and “the female version of virile.” Confused herself now, Tori questioned:

“Virile means you can produce sperm?”

To which the Star Trek alum replied it was a “manly” trait. In her mind, though, she “thought it was the masculine version of the female fertile,” adding:

“I used to be called Fertile Myrtle. Not anymore [because] I think I’m in menopause.”

And that just opened up a whole can of worms! Out of curiosity, William asked if she experiences any hot flashes while watching porn. We’re not kidding! Tori apparently doesn’t watch pornography — not because she is against it but “because I typically have five kids around me at all times.” Makes sense! The 51-year-old television star spoke about Shannen on the latest episode of her misSPELLING podcast this week. During the pod, Tori revealed those initial painful moments when she first learned that Doherty had died at 53 after a long and brave battle with cancer. And since the two shared so much time together as younger women starring on Beverly Hills, 90210, Shannen’s death was particularly painful for Tori.

Recalling where she was at the exact moment when she heard her friend of more than three decades had passed, Tori explained that it all came through at around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 14. Calling the news “really tough” to find out, Spelling said that she was snuggling in bed with two of her kids when her phone started to buzz repeatedly:

“I knew immediately. I was like, ‘oh my god, somebody’s passed. Somebody important has died.’ And I took that moment not to go on social media. I didn’t call anyone back. I wanted to gather the details for myself so I could see how I wanted to process it before being overwhelmed by voices and text and emails.”

What a horrible sinking feeling that must have been — knowing something was terribly wrong before knowing what the actual issue was. Ugh.

After finally getting up the courage to Google it, Spelling quickly found news of Doherty’s death. Recalling how upset she felt at Shannen’s untimely passing, Tori said:

“I saw that Shannen had passed on Saturday night, and it was shocking, and I think the first thing I felt was madness. Is madness the word? I felt mad. I felt mad for the life that wouldn’t continue, the life that had so much to offer, not just herself but everybody around here.”

So sad…

Dean McDermott‘s ex did take some time to think up happier memories, too, though. Tori — who played Donna Martin on the hit 90210 series from 1990 through 2000 opposite Doherty’s mainstay character Brenda Walsh — revealed on the podcast how welcoming Shannen had been on set. Tori, of course, was the daughter of Aaron Spelling, the now-deceased producer of the show. And naturally, she was fearful that her new co-stars wouldn’t react so well to her presence. But Shannen and Brian Austin Green made sure Tori was welcomed:

“I think Shannen and Brian were the first people that I met on set, and they were really really welcoming. And Shannen has that smile, that smile that can light up the room. There was so much joy behind that smile. And she immediately took me under her wing. She gave me a big hug, walked me around, took me into the makeup trailer.”

Wow!

Using that warm memory to think about the late actress’ legacy, Tori concluded:

“I’ve really been going back in time privately and thinking, you know, about the enormous effect that Shannen had, not just on a generation, generations to come and to come. She will live on in her work and in the people that loved her and the things she stood for… I just want to thank Shan for being that beacon in my life. I have promised to carry the torch.”

What a powerful thing to share. We continue to send love and light to Tori and all of Shannen’s co-stars, friends, family members, and loved ones in these difficult weeks spent mourning her untimely passing.

It’s been over ten days now since the iconic actress sadly passed away amid her years-long battle with cancer, and her friends and co-stars are clearly still trying to wrap their minds around it. During Monday’s episode of the 90210MG podcast, which was sweetly titled Remembering Shannen Doherty, the late 53-year-old’s Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars Tori and Jennie Garth discussed their final words with Shannen. Tori said:

“I’ve had a lot of death in my life, and I don’t believe in regrets, but I have a lot of regrets that I didn’t have that time to have a second chance to get past stuff from the past and look at all the good things and really talk it out and have that last conversation.”

But luckily that’s NOT the case with Shannen. The mom of five continued:

“I feel like she and I had that, and I’m super grateful for that.”

Awww.

She didn’t give details on what exactly they talked about, but Jennie was happy to hear about Tori and Shannen’s interaction. She responded:

“I was thinking definitely of you, Tor, and how happy you must have been to have that time with her and to have that sort of just reconnection on a deeper level as both of you matured and grown and learned so much.”

But for Garth, she did not have the same. Jennie added:

“I wished that I had had that opportunity because I didn’t really get to sit down and have like [a] heartfelt conversation with her recently, but I was very glad that you did.”

That’s really too bad… And possibly why she’s reportedly not getting an invite to Shannen’s funeral!

Spelling also added that she’s “not doing well” since the Charmed star’s passing, noting that she hasn’t really been “emotionally” ready to talk about it. However, she has felt a responsibility to do so:

“For me, I honestly, as you know, didn’t want to do this. I just emotionally didn’t feel ready. And I feel like I know a lot of people are speaking out and giving lovely tributes to her in her memory, but I just, oh, I obviously wanted to do this for the fans, so this episode is for them, not for us.”

Tori continued:

“I guess it was just that belief that she fought so hard and was such a warrior. And she has shown her entire life and career you’re everything that she can get past anything. So although we know the answer is so evil and takes everyone that we love, it just I don’t know. I guess she made you believe that she was the one that would make it and she was so hopeful.”

Tori, as well as many of her other 90210 co-stars, offered loving tributes after Shannen’s death, which you can read HERE.

The mourning star then concluded:

“I’ve spent my whole life living in fear, and I’ve always been a fearful person, and I didn’t feel fear at all when she passed. I just felt sad. I felt sad for the second chapter she had, and I was so excited for that chapter for her and wanted her so badly to have that.”

So sad. Shannen was definitely taken too soon.

But one person it hit harder than most? Jennie Garth!

The Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars weren’t the best of friends. In fact, for many years they had a rather bitter, if inert, feud going. Thankfully they mostly patched things up towards the end, with Shannen saying earlier this year that they’re “all good now.” (Though not good enough to drop the ban from Jennie going to her funeral, apparently!)

The issue wasn’t that Shannen was Jennie’s BFF. It was the fact she was her colleague. Her contemporary. Hell, they’re almost exactly the same age! So her passing scared the hell out of Jennie! And she wasn’t even the first of their crew to die. Luke Perry died after a stroke at 52, just five years back. Jennie is 52 now.

Speaking candidly on her 9021OMG podcast with pal and fellow Beverly Hills alum Tori Spelling, Jennie admitted:

“It made me feel very fearful, especially just with Luke dying and now Shannen. I just feel like, I don’t know, it could be any of us [that] could go at any moment. That kind of feeling … yeah, that’s scary.”

Sounds like she was chilled to the bone! Not an unreasonable reaction — we’re sure most folks even in their 30s have had someone their age — a friend, a family member, someone they went to school with — pass away. It always feels like someone walked on your grave, right?

Well, it turns out Tori isn’t as spookable as her co-host. She expressed:

“I didn’t feel fear at all when she passed. I just felt sad. I felt sad for the second chapter she had, and I was so excited for that chapter for her and wanted her so badly to have that.”

Makes perfect sense, of course. But no new fears about her own mortality??

Well, not really. Tori explained she’s “always been a fearful person” in general — and about death in specific, we guess? So more death didn’t change that. Wow.

But Shannen’s death hit Jennie hard, especially how sudden it felt, just like Luke’s — even though she should have been braced for it after the lengthy and difficult cancer battle. Shannen was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015, then went into remission in 2017 before it returned in 2020. Frankly, Jennie admits she “never thought she would succumb to cancer” after fighting it off so long:

“It’s crazy that we could be shocked knowing that she was sick and knowing how hard she was fighting, but it still felt shocking.”

She added:

“It was just shocking and makes you pissed, mad, sad, all the feelings because and then [you’re] like, ‘What the f**k?’ Because she’s the one person that you didn’t see this happening [to].”

It’s clear Jennie saw Shannen as someone far tougher than she ever was. She described how she actually really admired her late co-star:

“I learned a lot, you know, about how to stand up for myself, how to fight for things that I believed in. I also saw that she was saying what she needed to say, and I thought, ‘I want to be like that. I want to be a person that uses my voice and says what I need to say.’ So she did inspire me.”

As for how they’ll handle Shannen’s passing with things like 90210 podcasts and fan conventions? Jennie says she hopes everyone will keep coming together for the fans and one another:

“I know that it made us feel better to be together after Luke passed away. There was some comfort in that.”

Tori told Jennie of their group of friends:

“I can’t imagine this lifetime not getting to know all of you and not going through that experience that, as we say, Jen, no one can understand. And I’m OK with that because I wouldn’t have wanted to share it with anyone else besides all of you.”

On Sunday, Shannen’s friend Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the hit series, took to Instagram with two throwback photos of the girls, writing:

“I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration. She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie [her beloved dog] and all the people who loved her. “

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin, also shared a selfie with the Heathers actress on her IG Story, writing alongside a ton of broken heart emojis:

“I don’t have outward words yet… but WE knew and that’s what matters”

Meanwhile, Shannen’s on-screen twin brother Jason Priestley wrote this alongside a pic of them:

“Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time.”

Brian Austin Green, who portrayed David Silver and remained very close with Shannen in her final days, took to his Story to share:

“Shan. My sister … you loved me through everything. You were a big part of my understanding of love. I’ll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you.”

Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, posted a photo of the sky, captioning it:

“So young — so sad. May you RIP Shannen”

She also made reference to another beloved member of the cast, Luke Perry, who died suddenly of a stroke in 2019 at just 52, adding:

“I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”

Oof. They were both far too young!

Similarly, Carol Potter, who played Doherty’s mom, posted a photo of a sunset, expressing:

“Shocked and saddened by news of Shannon Doherty’s death. What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon. Throughout, she stayed true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in facing her own death. May she rest in peace. .”

BAG’s ex, Vanessa Marcil, AKA Gina Kincaid, later reposted clips of Shannen and Luke from the show, captioning it:

“Too much loss…. #RestinPowerSD”

Mark Damon Espinoza, who played Jesse Vasquez, also reflected on the loss on his feed, saying alongside a professional shot of his co-star (HERE):

“Another day, another great loss. Far too young to leave this plane. Shannen played a witch in Charmed but she was actually a warrior and fought like one to live. She’ll always be #brendawalsh to me and I’ll be forever grateful our paths crossed on this journey. Rest in peace dear Shannen… the skies at night are brighter for your presence among the stars. #90210”

She clearly left such a large impact on so many and will be deeply missed by all!

BTW, while Shannen remained close with many of her 90210 cast members after the series wrapped, just weeks before her death she revealed it was her co-stars who had a hand in her premature departure from the show. Speaking to Kelly Ripa, she admitted that she was struggling in her personal life, which caused her to be late frequently. That mixed with the bad press she was generating at the time amid a divorce had some of her fellow TV stars upset, so they supposedly called up producer Aaron Spelling and pressured him to fire her. Whoa. This was something she didn’t learn until years later, too, which must have been hard! It’s amazing that she stayed so friendly with them after this!

This cast has been through so much together. We cannot imagine how it feels to lose another co-star — especially after witnessing Shannen’s health battle so up close and personal for all these years. Sending them all our love as they continue to mourn this loss.

Tori Spelling spent part of this Friday’s episode of the misSPELLING podcast discussing the olden days of landing strips on lovely ladies. If you’re too young to remember, back in the long-gone 1990s, women often trimmed their hair down there into long, thin, vertical strips! Like a runway pointing to, well, you know!

Anyways, Tori hopped onto that trend just like millions of other women. Landing strips were all the way in! And simultaneously, she hopped onto a second, seemingly unrelated trend, too: dyed platinum blonde hair! Ohhh, yeah. You probably think you can see where this is going… But you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

During Friday’s podcast episode, the 51-year-old star explained how she was in the midst of her run on Beverly Hills, 90210 when she went to the hairdresser to get her ‘do done up in platinum blonde. As the stylist was working on her head, she connected the dots on linking the hair up there and the hair down there after seeing the dye job come to life:

“I remember when I went platinum on 90210. I was at my hairdresser and getting it done and, at the time, landing strips were in. I said to my hairdresser, I was like, ‘oh my gosh, I love the color you did my hair. Wait, is that ever a thing? I could dye my pubes to match, like I’m platinum here, I could be platinum there.’ So, he whipped up a little bit [of the dye] and he gave it to me.”

Making the carpet match the drapes! Why not? Well…

Tori recalled how she walked out of the salon with the dye putty in hand and ready to use on her privates at home. There was just one issue: she was “rushing out” and “didn’t ask for instructions.” Uh-oh! She went home for her DIY down-there dye job, put the putty in her most sensitive spot, and let it sit. Next up? Pain! SO much pain!! The dye started to burn like hell and Tori hollered so loudly that her roommate, Kevin, rushed in to see what was the matter! She remembered:

“He comes in and it had turned bright purple. I don’t know if I left it on too long, probably the case, because it burned like hell, but it was bright purple.”

Ouch!!!

But also… kind of cool, maybe?! You know, besides the burning and the pain. We want to know if it was neon ’80s style purple, or a slightly darker pastel version of the color! LOLz! One thing is for certain: nobody else in the world has purple pubes!! Er, uh, at least we hope not….

Tori didn’t leave it in long enough to start a trend, though. She let the mess settle for a bit then shaved it all off in one fell swoop! She recalled:

“So, that was the first time I had to shave it all off and go down to the hardwood. And then I was like, ‘oh this is cute.'”

First off, “down to the hardwood” is an incredible euphemism. The carpet couldn’t match the drapes? Tear it up and go to the hardwood! Ha!

And also, bare bits became their own trend not long after the landing strip look, so Tori was truly a trendsetter in that way! Ha! What do U make of this crazy tale, Perezcious readers?! Ever had any dye drama of your own??
