The mom of five stopped by Brian’s Oldish podcast on Monday, and the two really dove into the 18-year period between when Beverly Hills, 90210 wrapped and when they reconnected. Such a long hiatus for a friendship! We’re glad they reconnected before it was too late…

Thinking back to one of their final conversations around 2000 when the show ended, Tori explained:

“I remember our last conversation and the last thing we said to each other before those 18 years. I was crying. I remember crying that we were going to lose touch because we were so close. It was almost like going through a divorce or something.”

To Brian, the show ending didn’t mean they had to sever ties. But, amid her relationship with her ex-boyfriend and former co-star Vincent Young, he felt Tori withdrew:

“What I remember is going by Vincent’s house to see you multiple days after we wrapped and trying to keep a connection going. But it got to the point where I just never got that from you.”

And that’s not the extent of it! Years later during a “90210 DVD release party,” the distance continued as they were both with their respective partners at the time — Dean McDermott and Megan Fox:

“You were married to Dean and I was with Megan when we were still just dating — you guys got there and you never said hello to me once. I just kept missing you guys and then you were gone.”

Hmm. Is he implying their significant others didn’t want them hanging out either? Just how close were they?? Well, they dated in real life earlier in 90210’s run and Tori has been very vocal about her feelings toward BAG. So we can understand exes being a little wary…

Unfortunately neither reached out, so each felt the cold shoulder. Brian explained:

“It was just this thing of like, ‘She just doesn’t want to be my friend.’ I genuinely felt that way. I tried to visit you and I would call you. When that wasn’t reciprocated and so I gave up. I didn’t know what was going on in your life.”

Yikes! But it seems the distance predated Dean and Megan. We mentioned the Vincent Young of it all. And Tori squarely blames that relationship for her losing touch:

“On my part, I lost myself in that relationship [with Vincent] again as I had done previously in relationships. That relationship was not a good relationship for me and toward the end I got wrapped up and things weren’t good.”

And she wasn’t the only one who she felt was consumed by love! Tori said Brian’s relationship with ex Vanessa Marcil was a major part of why she took a step back from their friendship:

“That relationship was frustrating to see from a friend’s perspective who loves someone so much. To see what is going on and see how your friend is treated and not be OK with it.”

Shots fired! She continued that she knew she couldn’t step in:

“But also knowing that you can’t really say anything because the person has to go through their own experience and go on their journey.”

Tori added:

“I shied away from you because you weren’t a fan of [my] relationship [with Vincent]. You had a good working relationship with Vincent but I don’t think you felt like our personal relationship was something that was correct for me. My process was different and I would shy away from those that would really fight for me. I never stopped thinking about you and never stopped wanting to reach out and reconnect.”

Brian responded:

“I still showed up. I had come to terms with knowing that wasn’t a good relationship but you are my sister so there is no cut-off.”

So was it how they felt about each other’s partners? Or how the partners felt about their history and vibe together? Hmm…

The heartbreaking news has led to a tidal wave of condolences from her many fans, loved ones, and former colleagues on social media — including from her Charmed co-star with whom she had a complicated relationship. On Sunday, Shannen’s friend Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the hit series, took to Instagram with two throwback photos of the girls, writing:

“I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration. She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie [her beloved dog] and all the people who loved her. “

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin, also shared a selfie with the Heathers actress on her IG Story, writing alongside a ton of broken heart emojis:

“I don’t have outward words yet… but WE knew and that’s what matters”

Meanwhile, Shannen’s on-screen twin brother Jason Priestley wrote this alongside a pic of them:

“Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time.”

Brian Austin Green, who portrayed David Silver and remained very close with Shannen in her final days, took to his Story to share:

“Shan. My sister … you loved me through everything. You were a big part of my understanding of love. I’ll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you.”

Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, posted a photo of the sky, captioning it:

“So young — so sad. May you RIP Shannen”

She also made reference to another beloved member of the cast, Luke Perry, who died suddenly of a stroke in 2019 at just 52, adding:

“I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”

Oof. They were both far too young!

Similarly, Carol Potter, who played Doherty’s mom, posted a photo of a sunset, expressing:

“Shocked and saddened by news of Shannon Doherty’s death. What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon. Throughout, she stayed true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in facing her own death. May she rest in peace. .”

BAG’s ex, Vanessa Marcil, AKA Gina Kincaid, later reposted clips of Shannen and Luke from the show, captioning it:

“Too much loss…. #RestinPowerSD”

Mark Damon Espinoza, who played Jesse Vasquez, also reflected on the loss on his feed, saying alongside a professional shot of his co-star (HERE):

“Another day, another great loss. Far too young to leave this plane. Shannen played a witch in Charmed but she was actually a warrior and fought like one to live. She’ll always be #brendawalsh to me and I’ll be forever grateful our paths crossed on this journey. Rest in peace dear Shannen… the skies at night are brighter for your presence among the stars. #90210”

She clearly left such a large impact on so many and will be deeply missed by all!

BTW, while Shannen remained close with many of her 90210 cast members after the series wrapped, just weeks before her death she revealed it was her co-stars who had a hand in her premature departure from the show. Speaking to Kelly Ripa, she admitted that she was struggling in her personal life, which caused her to be late frequently. That mixed with the bad press she was generating at the time amid a divorce had some of her fellow TV stars upset, so they supposedly called up producer Aaron Spelling and pressured him to fire her. Whoa. This was something she didn’t learn until years later, too, which must have been hard! It’s amazing that she stayed so friendly with them after this!

This cast has been through so much together. We cannot imagine how it feels to lose another co-star — especially after witnessing Shannen’s health battle so up close and personal for all these years. Sending them all our love as they continue to mourn this loss.

The 53-year-old stopped by Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera SiriusXM podcast on Tuesday and revealed a bitter truth about her Beverly Hills departure: it wasn’t just the producers who wanted her gone, but her CO-STARS, too!!

Shannen starred on the hit show from 1990 to 1994 before her character Brenda Walsh was abruptly written off.  And at the same time, she was struggling majorly in her personal life with a messy split from then-husband Ashley Hamilton, whom she was married to between 1993 and 1994. She actually spoke about it with co-star Jason Priestly back in January on her own podcast Let’s Be Clear, where she revealed:

“Things that were transpiring in that marriage that made it really hard for me to consistently be on time for work … [It] became a very big problem.”

She added at the time:

“It wasn’t anybody’s responsibility but mine, but I certainly wish that I had been sort of sat down and sort of looked at and said, ‘Listen, the end result is going to be this, you are going to get fired because none of us are willing to put up with it anymore. And I understand that you have an issue in your personal life, but that also can’t bleed into work, you also have to get your s**t together.’”

And the end result was a swift firing. Looking back on it now, Shannen revealed to Kelly on Tuesday:

“I felt, you know, honestly fearful, so it wasn’t just being fired for being late. It was that all of my bad press you know, that stuck to me.”

The Charmed star continued:

“The cast collectively decided that it wasn’t a good look for 90210 anymore, so the cast of 90210 are the ones that scheduled the phone call with [producer] Aaron [Spelling] and said, ‘It’s too much. We don’t want to deal with this anymore. It’s a bad look for our show. It’s a bad look for us. She was three hours late, blah, blah, blah.”

Damn! And she apparently didn’t even know about it until Tori Spelling told her much later:

“I didn’t know a lot of this until way later. Tori [Spelling] was just on my podcast. She told me a lot of this. Brian Austin Green told me a lot of this, but I kind of knew that it was never really Aaron’s decision.”

And on that note, Doherty added:

“It wasn’t that he looked one day and said, ‘This is just too much for us.’ It couldn’t, he would never. He’s a producer. He was smart. He understood that I, as Brenda, was a very big draw to the show and I was getting yes, some bad press, but I was also on the cover Rolling Stone and on, you know, every other cover there, so it was important. That was feeding publicity and drawing the ratings up.”

But clearly, that wasn’t enough to keep her on the show. Still, she ultimately worked with Aaron again on Charmed just a few years later:

“Yeah, so getting fired from … 90210,  I recovered really quickly. The set was very hostile and toxic and I just wasn’t the girl that could work with some of the male producers. I wasn’t, I was not capable of saying yes and batting my eyelashes and putting on a baby voice and not really having an opinion.”

She added:

“I was incapable, so when it became such a big clash between me and the executive producer and then Aaron’s partner, Duke, when they fired me, it was almost, I felt some relief to be honest.”

As Perezcious readers may recall, Brian and Vanessa have not been on good terms for a long time due to their nasty custody battle. The Las Vegas alum claimed on Instagram in 2018 that the actor and Megan “completely cut” her son Kassius “out of their lives and his younger brothers’ lives.” Vanessa has made it seem like she raised their kid alone for years, which Brian called her out for last year. He then accused her of keeping Kassius away from him while he was recovering “like a stroke survivor” from a bad case of vertigo.

Their co-parenting situation has been messy! Now Vanessa says Megan apologized for her role in the drama! After a social media user slammed the 38-year-old actress for “never” defending the General Hospital star and being “a catalyst in your son’s broken relationship with his father,” she clapped back on Thursday. Vanessa wrote:

“Not true babe. [Megan Fox] was 17 … and still has taken responsibility for her actions. She has apologized to both me and our child. She stated she is ‘disgusted’ by her behavior. However, it wasn’t her job to keep a grown man/biological parent in his son’s life. That’s on him.”

And things get messier from here. She then dragged Brian’s fiancé Sharna Burgess into the situation, saying the professional dancer is “being conned!” What?! Vanessa wrote:

“It’s true as you said that it’s painful to watch #sharnaburgess try to gaslight her followers, however I do feel for her too. Only difference is that she’s not a child like Megan was. She’s being conned and would have to give up her whole ‘fairy tale’ in order to stand up for the truth at this point. But trust me, in her gut, she knows that she’s being lied to. I feel for her and her beautiful son. We [don’t] really matter anymore. The kids do. One day we will all be gone and these siblings will all be together.”

Vanessa concluded her scathing post by saying Kassius “knows the real truth” and “will protect” all of his siblings:

“My son is the oldest and he knows the real truth. He will protect them. Their safety and peace are all he cares about. The truth will always prevail in the end. It’s good to be on the right side of history and to know I gave up everything to protect my son and stand up to the truth. #ImWithYouSister I stand with all women first and always.”

The Transformers star has been getting way more hate amid her tumultuous romance with Machine Gun Kelly. After encouraging fans to “move on” from men who “drain you,” her bitter followers were pretty shocked to see she is STILL trying to make things work with the musician despite their rocky past. They were just caught getting cozy at Stagecoach in late April, so she clearly hasn’t taken her own advice.

After witnessing several social media users take jabs at the model for her romance drama, Vanessa was sick of it — and she put everyone on blast!

In an impassioned rant about girlhood and toxic masculinity, the General Hospital alum blasted anyone daring to tear down another woman, no matter what the reason, writing:

“FEMALE TRIBE- Are we really still out here saying STUPID, TRANSPARENT (jealousy) s**t about each other? Tearing each other down? Calling each other whores???? How many men do y’all know who AREN’T whores if given the chance???? What do women do when men cheat? They stay with them. If the man is rich? They will even idolize him.”

Stressing that this kind of behavior has a bigger impact on the world than people realize, she added:

“While you are out fighting other women, PUBLICLY tearing other women down and standing up for/dead beat men? Men are laughing at us and still ruling the world. They are having us do all of the heavy lifting around raising their kids AND They are Cheating on you literally or they are addicted to porn while NOT standing for you to have basic human equal rights. If men all stood with us? They could change the laws and make us ACTUALLY equals instantly. Pull it together and stand with other women. We are still the minorities. Vanessa also shared screenshots of conversations she had with trolls in IG comments which seemingly spurred on this big PSA. After the Jennifer’s Body lead was slammed for jumping “from guy to guy,” the 55-year-old clapped back:

“Oh yeah cause staying with one man forever who is many times NOT good for you is such an admirable accomplishment.”

When another critic said “Megan Fox is the furthest thing from who women should look up to” and called her and MGK’s “BS” relationship drama “a joke,” Vanessa added:

“We actually don’t share an x but we do share children and our children love each other. Life is about the long game. We are both human and so we are both flawed as are you. We are both women and neither of us ever asked to be looked up to. We are also strangers to you so you see us both through a lens of your own making. We have all come along way towards freedom. #ImWithYouSister”

Speaking of Beverly Hills, 90210, the pair both talked about their relationships with ’90s bad boy Brian Austin Green. For Shannen it was an ill-conceived fling later in life, but for Tori it was special. She called him “the first love of my life.” That’s sweet — but it isn’t all!

She also recounted to Shannen a convo she had with BAG — who she’s been close friends with for decades — about the end of her marriage. Tori confessed to her high school sweetie that she didn’t even know if she was ever in love with Dean! WTF! She recalled telling her understanding ex:

“‘Maybe I wasn’t in love. I’m not sure. No one’s broken my heart since you.'”

Damn! She maybe didn’t love Dean that way… because her heart wasn’t broken? Not like it was when she and Brian were young and in love? Whoa! That is some 90210 drama but IRL! And that impression was only heightened by how Tori told the next part:

“And there was like pause, pause. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is the first time I’ve said it in 30 years.'”

Wow. She made clear this was NOT like it would be on the prime time soap that made them famous. It wasn’t some attempt to steal Brian from Sharna Burgess, nor was she jealous of Megan Fox during those years. It wasn’t pining all that time. And yet, as she said to Shannen…

“It’s been 30 years, we’re just friends. I love his fiancée, it’s not that. But if he says something to me, I get so flustered and riled up, and it takes me right back to being my 18-year-old self.”

And whatever that spark was, she now says she never had it with Dean? The whole time?? That must be such a shot across the bow for the guy!

Airing this out on her podcast, Tori must have known what she was doing, right? We’re so curious what Dean will say to learning his wife of 17 years, the mother of his five children… thinks maybe she was never in love with him? Oof…

During Sunday’s episode of the misSPELLING podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alums swapped stories about their hookups with co-star Brian Austin Green! Tori first brought it up brought it up while revealing she cheated on then-boyfriend Ryan Ozar with Brian, her on-screen lover:

“I cheated on him with Brian. That’s how we broke up. I fell head over heels in love with Brian [Austin] Green.”

Yeah, Ryan was the guy who took her virginity… In THAT dress Shannen later wore! But he wasn’t her first everything! She added:

“I always say Brian was the first love of my life. I was young, and I was caught up in it.”

The drama backstage was as real as what was on prime time! Damn!

However, Tori revealed she never knew Shannen also had a fling with the hunk! In fact, she didn’t learn about it until the past year — when she talked about it on her own podcast:

Yikes! Do we detect a bit of salt in her words?? We mean, she did say Brian was her first love! But Shannen’s romance was WAY different from Tori’s… She explained it was “really short-lived” and — crucially — long after the height of 90210:

“Maybe I was doing Charmed? I don’t know, it was so much later.”

Phew! That means Tori wasn’t getting her friend’s sloppy seconds! That has to help! Plus Shannen and Brian didn’t work out! The 53-year-old admitted they had absolutely zero spark:

“We tried something, and we just went, ‘Yeah this isn’t going to work.’ The kissing didn’t even make sense.”

Awkwarddd!

But good thing they were on the same page! And so are these two Peach Pit regulars! Tori and Shannen agreed neither of them can even imagine the odd couple kissing! Shannen added:

“That’s why it didn’t go anywhere because it was awkward. It was super awkward. … There were no fireworks. We were so close, and we had known each other like we were little kids essentially. I love Brian, he’s one of my favorite humans. But there was no spark.”

She did point out how she and Tori have technically “shared Brian’s saliva” though! HA!

We’re just glad this didn’t upset Tori though! Because it sounds like her feelings for Brian may never completely go away. She added:

“It’s been 30 years, we’re just friends. I love his fiancée, it’s not that. But if he says something to me, I get so flustered and riled up, and it takes me right back to being my 18-year-old self.”

Well, she is in her single era! But Brian certainly isn’t! He’s currently engaged to fiancée Sharna Burgess, with whom he welcomed a son last year.

“I didn’t lose my virginity until I was over 18, so it’s not like I haphazardly slept with someone. I thought he was the one.”

Clearly he wasn’t the only “one” as she cheated on him with Brian Austin Green! LOLz! But even more inneresting than Tori’s virginity story is what happened to the dress she wore during the act! The blonde bombshell told her co-star:

“Do you remember the Betsey Johnson dress that you wore in our biggest cast photo? It was black, floral…We used to share clothes, everything.”

Detecting where things were going, Shannen asked:

“Are you telling me you lost your virginity in my dress?”

Tori, unwilling to transfer ownership of the beloved dress, playfully responded:

“Umm, no, I’m going to say that you wore the dress I lost my virginity in. I told you. What do you mean? I literally said, ‘There’s a blood stain in the back.’”

OMFG! Good thing that stain wasn’t in the cast pic! HA! To make matters even worse, it was a dress Shannen LOVED! She told the podcast host:

“I loved that dress. It was cleaned though. I just don’t think they got that stain out or something… We were going somewhere and I didn’t have anything to wear so I borrowed that dress. I loved that dress. And then I got one exactly like it but all black.”

While chatting with E! News at the Steel City Comic Con on Saturday, the actor revealed he “picks” his “battles” with the Transformers star whenever co-parenting issues have arisen since their divorce in 2020. He explained:

“The number one [rule] is always make sure that everything is centered around the experience of the kids.”

Seems obvious, but it’s harder than it sounds!

BAG, who shares sons Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 7, with the Jennifer’s Body alum, explained further:

“People make a mistake of thinking that they’re gonna do things so the separation doesn’t affect the kids and that’s — of course it’s gonna affect the kids. The only choice you have is how it affects the kids.”

Great point!

The Beverly Hills, 90210 star also pointed out that things are never going to be easy with an ex because the relationship ended “for a reason” — but that’s why it’s important to “pick your battles.” He continued:

“The person that you were with that you’re now separated from, you guys are separated for a reason because you didn’t get along. So, you can’t expect to then get along after the fact in raising your kids. So, you have to decide, ‘OK, it’s not about us getting along anymore. It’s about us co-parenting, which is a totally different situation.'”

Brian knows a thing or two about tough co-parenting situations! Before getting with Megan, he welcomed son Kassius, 21, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil, and that dynamic has been challenging from the start! So he obviously wanted things to be different with Megan and their kids this second time around. Thankfully, for the most part, it sounds like they’re crushing it! In a September episode of his podcast Old-ish, he shared:

“We co-parent really well together. When we need to, we communicate really well, we are open to things, we don’t take things personally. It is my goal, and I think it’s her goal as well, that the kids are in as healthy environment as they can be in.”

Similarly, Megan said on The Drew Barrymore Show last fall that she makes it a point never to badmouth her ex around their kids:

“I think it’s really important when people separate to never ever disparage the other parent or even in a passive aggressive way, make remarks. I don’t let anything in my energy like that when I’m around my kids because if I don’t accept and love their father I’m rejecting a part of them because he’s a part of who they are always.”

Pretty rare to see exes stay so amicable for the kids these days, and it’s especially impressive coming from BAG and Meg considering they’ve had lots of issues in their past! Thoughts?! Let us know (below)!

The pair met in 2004 while working on the sitcom Hope & Faith. They began dating shortly afterward — when Megan was 18 and BAG was 30. Yeah, that age gap is definitely more pronounced by her being SO YOUNG. The two married in 2010 and welcomed three children together before breaking up in 2020. Looking back on their time together, Megan now realizes she never should have gotten involved in a committed relationship with him so young! The 37-year-old actress said during a candid new interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast:

“First of all, let me just say, I was not a great girlfriend to Brian. I’ll be very honest. And he was not great to me either all the time, but I think it would be easy for me to lean into and complain about or let it seem like that relationship was one way. Maybe I was not great. Because I was young and really should not have been in a relationship of that level of commitment and magnitude. I shouldn’t have been involved in that when I was 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; I shouldn’t have been.”

A big reason they weren’t great together? She feels she never had the “freedom to be single” and experience life like she wanted while with Brian for many years of her adult life. Because of those desires, despite being with the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, Megan said she “did a lot of, like, falling in love with other people all the time,” adding:

“I would go to work and fall in love because I was a kid.”

Oof. It sounds like there was some emotional cheating during the relationship. She’s not the only actor we’ve heard say that about work either lately. After divorcing Brian, Megan hoped to experience being single finally. But plans changed when she met Machine Gun Kelly soon afterward:

“And, yeah, I never had the full freedom to be single and experience that life, and I thought for a minute when I got divorced that that’s what I was gonna do, and I was single for like three weeks.”

And who knows where she stands with MGK now?! Is she trying her hands at the single life for the first time or not? Unfortunately, her lips are sealed about what’s going on between — other than to confirm that their engagement was called off. So sad.
