Amid the ongoing It Ends With Us controversy and the back-and-forth PR battle with her co-star-slash-director Justin Baldoni, Blake is catching heat for a 2012 quote she gave to Elle Magazine. And fans are debating wildly on X (Twitter) right now about whether or not what Blake said back then was truly problematic no matter the time period, or just an unfortunate sign of the troubling social culture of that earlier era!

So, here’s the context: way back in 2012, Elle asked Blake about whether she wanted to raise boys or girls as a mother. Her response was snarky and strange, with her saying she’d either want to have girls or “trannies,” as she termed it:

“I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies. Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated.”

YIKES!!!

Not exactly the kind of word you want to be throwing around, ya know? Or the flippant attitude one should deliver about somebody’s gender identity! And on Sunday on X, one user re-posted a screenshot of that quote and conveyed their shock that Blake had ever said it in the first place:

And that wasn’t all! He also came through with receipts from ANOTHER interview Lively did in that very same month which he says proves that she should have known that “trannies” wasn’t an acceptable term to use even back then!!

And even THAT wasn’t all! Another old resurfaced interview clip showed Blake flippantly and casually using that word yet again while promoting Gossip Girl back in the day, too:

Yikes, yikes, yikes!! Sure, it was 12 years ago. But still, even back then the use of that word in that way was so cutting and disrespectful!

Except… other X users didn’t necessarily see it that way! Interestingly, a debate raged in the replies to the original tweet, with many people actually coming to the star’s defense and trying to put her problematic phrasing into context:

“Trust me back then ppl said a lot worse. Not saying that this was right but it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.”

“Is the internet just going through a trend of hating on Blake Lively?”

“It was wasn’t right, kind or acceptable but it was widely accepted. Things didn’t change overnight and that conversation was only just reaching many.”

“I’m actually not mad at this at all. The word was thrown around a lot back in the day. If it was said today it would be problematic, but nothing is wrong w wishing for a trans child.”

“It was a different time, they used that word all the time on SATC even in scenes starring actual trans people”

“You just blew up the whole smear campaign with this one”

“This isn’t really a problem. That’s how everyone referred to the trans community back then. If you’re gonna fault her, you gotta fault the entire world because that’s just what it was back then”

As we’ve said, this is not the first time this troubling old interview from Blake has resurfaced on social media. But considering the ongoing IEWU brouhaha, it’s definitely getting a lot of new eyeballs and thrusting a lot more people into the debate about her usage of that troubling word than ever before!

The Dance Moms veteran hard-launched a new girlfriend on Instagram this week, shocking the world with the reveal! Oh, and the 21-year-old star is dating a woman you may know: Dakayla Wilson, of So You Think You Can Dance fame! The new couple met while JoJo was a judge on Season 18.

The revelation occurred on JoJo’s IG Stories on Wednesday afternoon. During what appeared to be a dance class inside a tiny studio, Wilson could be seen dancing around in front of a mirror before abruptly pausing to make an announcement to those assembled in the room. She needed only five words to drop the dime:

“So, I have a girlfriend!”

And then… she wrapped her arms around Siwa! The pair embraced each other warmly as the entire room erupted in cheers and applause! On IG, Siwa captioned the reveal with “Cats outta the bag,” indicating that the whole world was about to learn of their relationship. Surprise!

That wasn’t the only sweet ‘ship content JoJo gave us on Wednesday, either. Hours later, she returned to her IG Stories to deliver this heartwarming photo (below) of the pair holding hands and spending quality time together during a so-called “perfect day”:

Per People, it’s not clear how long Siwa and Wilson have been dating, or what first brought them together. Obvi, they are both deep in the dance world, so that likely helped forge their connection.

As you may have seen, the 20-year-old has been calling out her billionaire father over some nasty claims he’s made about her, such as saying she was dead to him after being killed by the “woke mind virus” after she transitioned following her 18th birthday. The whole thing has been super s**tty! And she’s not done clapping back!

On Sunday night, Vivian took to Threads to put author Walter Isaacson on blast for the way he portrayed her in his biography of the Tesla founder. She began:

“To Walter Isaacson, you threw me to the wolves in what was one of the most humiliating experiences of my entire life.”

Jeez.

She continued:

“Elon was your darling Tony Stark apartheid-american hero with a semi-tragic backstory who was saving the world and you were too f**king cowardly to write anything other than a sad excuse for a puff-piece. To further this goal, you portrayed me in a light that is genuinely defamatory and I’m not going to mince my words.”

And she didn’t!!! She dished:

“I was treated as a VILLAIN BACKSTORY-ORIGIN to excuse or explain away [Musk’s] behavior. As if my whole existence was nothing but an inconvenience to HIM. God bless the poor soul who abused his child, that must be so f**king hard for him. I was deadnamed, and misgendered for no conceivable reason and made to seem like I was just too stupid or too ‘communist’ or too brainwashed or too what-f**king-ever to understand the 4d chess behind the reasons I was traumatized.”

Vivian added that her identity was “trivialized,” noting:

“My identity was trivialized, my reasons for separation were misconstrued, and I was treated as naïve; stupid, unfairly unforgiving and unreasonably moralistic. Worst of all, this was the section that was released early as part of the ‘promo’ because you knew it would catch headlines as part of this culture war bulls**t. You knew that conservatives and ‘reactionaries’ would take this and run as far as they could with it to get clicks, or to smear my name for their own self interests.”

The book, Elon Musk, was published in September 2023 by Simon & Schuster, but an excerpt hit The Wall Street Journal weeks before the publication, in which the author said Elon’s “anti-woke sentiments” had been “partly triggered by the decision of his oldest child” to transition, referring to Vivian by the name she’d been assigned at birth.

Vivian now claims that she was never consulted over the book — despite it being fairly easy for Walter to get in touch. She argued:

“I was never asked, interviewed, or contacted to say anything for this poor excuse of pages you call a book. I know that you claim that you ‘reached out to me through family members’ but I found out about this thing’s existence literally a MONTH before it was released. So either you are completely f**king incompetent at the most basic aspects of your ‘job’, or you are weaponizing your own lack of effort to try to lift the blame off of yourself because you knew damn well what you were doing.”

She suggested that Walter “deliberately failed because [he] knew the angle [he] were going for, and that [her] testimony would’ve f**ked up [his] pretty little portrayal of an irredeemable human being.” Call him out!!! She continued:

“I was content to sit in my silence up until now and to be your queer villain. You knew that I was gonna be used as an example of ‘how the children are being brainwashed by the trans agenda’ because you did it yourself and then proceeded to blast it to every news organization to use as an ad to sell more copies. The fact that this book may have been used as justification by parents to not let their trans child obtain potentially life-saving medical treatment f**king HAUNTS me. It always will.”

Oof. That’s AWFUL — especially since she had nothing to do with this narrative! None of this is her fault, and yet it is still a nightmare, she furthered:

“I’ve been waiting on talking about this subject because it genuinely hurts so much to remember. That memory of sobbing my eyes out in a dormitory worrying that I didn’t have a future because of the damage this thing did to my reputation will forever stay with me. You, your editors, and your publisher are a f**king joke for letting this thing be released into the public. I had to see posters of this thing for MONTHS afterwards.”

She concluded by pointing out one major fact check he failed to do, clarifying that she goes by “Vivian” and that only her friends and mother Justine Wilson call her “Jenna.” She finished:

“If you genuinely knew what you were talking about that’s how you would’ve referred to me. It is genuinely impressive that you somehow managed to find a way to even f**k up my NAME. I think that goes to show how much research actually went into this. I am not letting this narrative continue any further.”

Wow. We cannot imagine how difficult this must be — and especially to be dealing with it on such a public scale. So stressful and traumatic! Ugh. See the full thread (below):

So you know how the two figureheads of the Republican party right now are Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance? And one of the biggest talking points of the party right now is taking away laws protecting the LGBTQ+ community. In particular they’ve been virulently attacking trans folks and drag shows. Well, how embarrassing would it be if one of those figureheads actually had a history of drag?? The answer: we don’t have to speculate, because a photo has emerged allegedly showing JD Vance in full drag!!

Over the weekend, podcast host and activist Matt Bernstein ignited a frenzy on X (Twitter) by revealing a photo of what appears to be the Ohio Senator in a skirt and a blonde wig from back in his college days! Take a look for yourself (below):

This election just turned into a drag race! LOLz!

OK, so notice how there’s no X community note attempting to disprove the photo’s authenticity? It seems unlike the couch joke, this thing is real! Folks are trying to track down the origin, and so far it seems legit!

Researcher Travis Whitfill, who went to Yale at the same time as JD, explained on X that the photo was taken back in 2012 by one of the Republican politician’s classmates, and that it was sent to him by a friend. He further explained to the Daily Beast on Monday:

“It’s from a group chat of Vance’s fellow classmates and is from a friend of a friend. I believe it was grabbed from Facebook and was taken at a Halloween party.”

Obviously we are fine with JD’s Hillbilly Elegance. But we’re not the ones attacking drag and trans folks!

Mind you, Vance is the very guy who introduced the Protect Children’s Innocence Act — which proposes to criminalize gender affirming care for minors, in addition to cutting funding for and prohibiting higher education on such gender affirming care. He’s also famous for supporting Florida’s Don’t Say Gay bill, which aims to restrict classroom discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation. He’s even gone so far as to call critics of said bill “groomers.” Yeah, he’s one of those guys.

All that, yet back in college he used to dress up in drag? For him, it’s acceptable as a fun game of dress up, but for the people battling for human rights over their gender identity, it’s completely unacceptable??

On X, users have been having a heyday with the viral photo in the replies:

“Remember: It’s not about J.D. Vance in drag; it’s the hypocrisy.”

One response in particular posted by trans model @plasticmartyr took off:

The response took off SO much that #SofaLoren was actually TRENDING on the social media app! We also saw someone suggest “Ashley Furniture” which is pretty great, too.

The craziest thing? Vance and Trump’s teams have yet to deny this is in fact JD in the photo. We bet he and Trump are having some real inneresting conversations right about now!

Of course, Imane is “very happy” about her accomplishment. According to CNN, she said after the fight:

“For eight years, this has been my dream and I’m now the Olympic champion and gold medallist, I’ve worked for eight years, no sleep, eight years tired. Now I’m Olympic champion. I want to thank all the people who have come to support me. All the people from Algeria and all the people at my base. I want to thank all the team, my coach. Thank you so much.”

Amazing!!! What makes her big win even sweeter? It’s the ultimate eff you to all the bullies out there! As you know, Imane has been fighting it out in and out of the ring as she faced intense online bullying from people like Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling. During a preliminary match, Imane was up against Italian boxer Angela Carini. However, Angela abandoned their bout just 46 seconds in. She claimed she was punched so hard she didn’t want to continue the fight, even going as far as to say she felt more “pain” than when she trained with men.

Well, the match sparked a ton of online abuse toward Imane, all because of those comments. Many transphobic people attacked her for being transgender — when she’s not! She is a woman. She was born female. She is not intersex. See, Imane was disqualified from the boxing world championships last year after failing an unspecified gender eligibility test from the International Boxing Association. Mind you, they refused to release the results of their test. This also came after Imane competed FOR YEARS without any issues. And this test doesn’t mean she is a trans woman. She reportedly just had high levels of testosterone and XY chromosomes.

But because she looks masculine, anti-trans folks cruelly bullied her on social media. Well, look who is getting the last laugh now. Imane ignored the awful chatter and came out on top! Oh, and a message for all the haters on the internet! She said after her victory:

“As for whether I qualify or not, or whether I am a woman or not, I have made many statements in the media. I am fully qualified to take part in this competition. I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born a woman, I lived a woman, I competed as a woman, there’s no doubt about that. There are enemies of success, that is what I call them. And that also gives my success a special taste because of these attacks.”
