Back in 2019, the Footloose star shocked fans on Instagram by revealing her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Lexi, 11, and Harley, 8, had suddenly passed away. In a lengthy post mourning them, she wrote:

“Thank you for being the most consistent and constant beings in my life. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my guardians on this earth and even more so now.”

While getting candid in Part 2 of her interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show on Tuesday, Julianne revealed the dogs tragically died right after she and then-husband Brooks Laich had just split up. And it was sudden and violent:

“I had asked for a separation. And then ten days later my dogs were killed by coyotes.”

Coyotes?! Omfg… How truly tragic! Poor Julianne. And those poor dogs…

Later in the interview, she recounted the moment she learned of their deaths:

“I woke up before my phone even rang, and I knew. And I picked up the phone and my assistant at the time was just, like, screaming. I’ve never had coyotes in my yard, I have gates and everything”

So terrible. The Dancing with the Stars alum did, however, manage to reflect on what she was grateful for amid the devastation:

“That they went together — one, I’m so grateful that they went together. Two, I’m grateful that usually how it happens is very quick and that we got their bodies … But at that time I was like, ‘Oh, that was the unraveling of the absolute safety and unconditional love and I know I’m ready to open my heart and experience what this means.'”

That must have been unfathomably difficult to go through as she was separating from her ex-husband… What an awful time. She added:

“I had two dogs that were my kids. I had them for 11 years and for eight years. And they were everything to me.”

Do y’all remember like five years ago when the Dancing with the Stars host lit the internet on fire with her viral “energy work session”? You know, the one that took place in front of an audience at the 2020 World Economic Forum in Switzerland? A “practitioner” named Dr. John Amaral waved his hands above Julianne’s rear to fiddle with her energy chords! Well, she reacted pretty memorably at the time — like, by screaming and flailing around. That was certainly something! At the time, netizens had quite the heyday with the video. From comparing it to The Exorcist to wondering if girl was having an orgasm, people had a LOT to say. Her brother Derek Hough defended it as “ahead of its time,” and nearly five years later, Julianne still stands by it!

While talking about her new book Everything We Never Knew on the Off the Vine podcast on Tuesday, the 36-year-old got candid about how she “really wanted it to feel supernatural” after having “a few of those supernatural experiences” herself. Specifically, her viral energy healing session… Which she definitely saw all the colorful reactions to! She told host Kaitlyn Bristowe:

“I did this energy work session and it went viral and people were like, ‘She’s got demons and an exorcist coming out of her butthole,’ or something like that.”

OMFG! Ha!

She continued:

“That was almost five years ago, and so now [energy work is] so much more accessible, people understand what’s happening, and energy is everything.”

She exclaimed that “everything” is energy — even the very table she was sitting at for the interview! And just as much as she stands by her energy work, she praises Gwyneth Paltrow for doing the same:

“Whatever you say about her, if she’s ‘woo woo’ or whatever, I am so grateful for her because she probably took more flack [than] anybody out there because she was a pioneer and when you’re a pioneer in something and you have the courage and the guts to put it out there, you will absolutely get backlash. Completely. And so I give her so much props. She took a lot of hits for people who are trying to get that message out.

Over the weekend, Julianne Hough appeared on Watch What Happens Live, and revealed to host Andy Cohen that she didn’t think Bobby, the season 27 winner, deserved his crown based on his dance moves. Mickey Guyton, who was also on the show, was the first to criticize Bobby’s win, which Julianne wholeheartedly agreed with:

“Oh, I actually agree with you! And I think it’s because of the fanbase, right? It’s all about the fanbase on that show … He was not the best dancer, I agree.”

Ouch! And now, Bobby is clapping back!

The radio personality took to Instagram on Monday to sound off on the situation:

“Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live had Julianne Hough on [who] I’ve met her a couple times, she’s awesome. Julianne Hough [gets] no slander from me. But they asked Julianne Hough who was the worst ever and she was a bit diplomatic, and Mickey Guyton, of all people, was like, ‘Bob Bones.’ And so Julianne was like, ‘Yeah.’”

But guess what? He AGREES! The 44-year-old continued:

“I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that. Now I tried as hard as anyone in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now. I couldn’t dance then. But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire, but me and you. We did it together. I’m the greatest champion ever I didn’t say I was the greatest dancer, I’m the greatest champion ever because I’m a man of the people. I’m the man that you guys selected.”

He added:

“Julianne Hough, you’re cool … You’re awesome.”

On an episode of Watch What Happens Live on Sunday, the 36-year-old revealed that she thinks the season 27 winner of the dance competition show didn’t deserve his place. In the clip, guest host Mickey Guyton said she thinks champ Bobby Bones shouldn’t have taken home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy — and Julianne was totally in agreement:

“Oh, I actually agree with you! And I think it’s because of the fanbase, right? It’s all about the fanbase on that show.”

In fact, she went on to add that she thinks he’s just not a great dancer in general:

“He was not the best dancer, I agree.”

The DWTS host quickly clarified her stance along with Mickey, though, and they both said he had “great” fans who “love him.” You can see the clip (below):

If you don’t remember, Bobby did the popular “flossing” dance move with his partner Sharna Burgess on the show, which racked up TONS of fan votes and got him the win.

Julianne Hough is opening up about the trauma she suffered as a child… and it’s just horrible.

The Dancing with the Stars co-host sat down for a candid conversation on The Jamie Kern Lima Show on Wednesday and revealed a deeply upsetting truth for the first time ever: she was sexually abused at just 4 years old.

While talking about vulnerability and “abuses of power,” the 36-year-old made the shocking confession:

“My first experience with [sexual abuse] was when I was just 4 years old.”

Poor, poor Julianne. What an awful thing to happen to someone of any age, let alone a 4-year-old. And what makes her story even more sad is that her abuser was her “neighbor.”

Heartbreaking.

The Footloose alum bravely admitted it was the “first time” she’d ever “said that out loud to anybody in an interview,” before explaining how growing up within the Mormon community in Utah made the situation all the more “confusing.” She shared:

“That was a very, very confusing time because, obviously growing up in the Mormon culture, everything needs to be perfect, everybody needs to put on the shiny ‘We’ve got our stuff together,’ and there was not a lot of repercussion for what had happened.”

Unfortunately that sounds all too familiar. Far too many predators use religious communities as their playgrounds — and get away with it for years.

And even more shocking, Julianne made ANOTHER confession:

“And by the way, I’m not the only one in my family that had gone through similar things. And so that was a very challenging thing to come to terms with, which is like, nobody did anything.”

The Safe Haven star admitted she didn’t tell her parents until years later because amid “other things” that were happening in her childhood, she “forgot.” But it all came bubbling to the surface one day when she was 15. She was telling them about the unspecified other trauma, and her truth about the sexual abuse came out, too:

“I started sharing those things, but I had forgot about the neighbor thing at 4 years old until I started really doing this work in the last few years.”

She added that she “blocked out from birth to 10 basically because I had completely disassociated from [the abuse] ever happening.” Sounds like PTSD.

But when she did finally tell her parents, she said they “felt guilty”:

“At the time, when I was younger, I think they also didn’t know what to do. And were also in a position of not feeling capable or also feeling helpless. We’ve definitely gone through conversation after conversation like, ‘But we get it now, right? And we’re on the same page? I’m not blaming you now.’ But I definitely needed more at the time.”

She noted that at the time it was a difficult conversation, but that now as an adult and upon more self reflection, she’s more willing to address her trauma.

Elsewhere in the interview, Julianne opened up more about the toll abuse can have on a person at such a young age:

“Being so young, and those being your first experiences — whether it be physical, mental, sexual — those abuses of power to someone who is vulnerable to it — it immediately sets a precedent of: other people have the power.”

While hanging out with Dax Shepard on Monday’s episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Julianne dropped some major details about her past relationships with Ryan Seacrest and Brooks Laich! Ooh, juicy!

Let’s start with Ryan. Of course, you know the Dancing with the Stars pro-turned-host dated the TV presenter back in 2010 and they eventually split in 2013. Until now, though, we’ve been mostly blind as to what actually went down between the two.

Julianne, for the record, maintains that Ryan is an amazing guy and she holds no animosity towards him — and their breakup was way more complicated than met the eye:

“…dating Seacrest… it would be so exciting and so privileged and so romantic and then also I would feel like I was losing myself to all of that. That was exactly the dynamic. The rug was swept up from underneath me, and I was just flying and I was experiencing things that I didn’t even know existed. But then I had this insecurity that I was like, ‘I don’t ever want anybody to think that I’m with him for this reason.’ And so I then started playing smaller.”

The dancer admitted she didn’t want the world to think she was “using” the producer for fame since she was still up-and-coming at the time:

“I know that that was his experience in past situations and stuff, and so I again overcompensated, [I] was malleable to fit into exactly what somebody needed me to be for them to be happy.”

Oof. That’s a great way to lose your sense of self. And when you can’t have a healthy relationship with yourself, you can’t have a healthy relationship with someone else. It makes sense she decided she needed out.

After her breakup with the LIVE with Kelly and Mark host, she went on to date and eventually marry Brooks Laich, but that sadly ended in divorce. She revealed that took far less time to fall apart. She told Dax their relationship began “unraveling” as soon as they got hitched, and explained their streak of bad luck as individuals and as a couple:

“He was injured and then he got traded before his team that he had been there for almost 12 years won the Stanley Cup. It makes me want to cry because I feel for him so bad. That was in 2017. That was the year we got married and the year that everything started unraveling.”

Julianne said after that, when she finally asked for a separation from the NHL star in 2019, BOTH of her dogs, Lexi and Harley, died:

“It was very tragic. That was all kind of happening at the same time and it was an unraveling. Everything that I had ever known, that I had put in place for my control and my protection … I had this marriage to this guy who represented more of a father figure to me, and while he was changing, I was changing.”

Oh, plus the pandemic happened… which they spent several states apart. Julianne went on to say she felt like she’d been “uprooted”:

“I [felt like] I literally blew up my entire life and I have nothing.”

Despite feeling that maybe in “another time, another place” things could’ve worked out, she has “accepted” the end of that relationship and has no regrets. And even though she’s “sad” it didn’t “work out in the end”, the actress explained:

“I feel like our relationship and our marriage was exactly right, and the end of it is right, too. We both have regrets that it didn’t work out, because I don’t think we had the maturity to come together. He was contracting while I was expanding. We just couldn’t find each other in that.”

All in all, Julianne says she’s “only dated great human beings” in her life:

“He’s got the greatest heart that I could have ever had the privilege of being with.”

Late last year, Derek Hough’s wife Hayley Erbert underwent a cranial surgery to treat a “life-threatening” hematoma. Thankfully she survived and has been on the mend ever since. They announced in a joint Instagram post back in December:

“Hayley is doing well. Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle. She still has a ways to go with another surgery, hopefully in a few weeks, to insert a skull implant to replace the piece that was removed during the craniectomy. It will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury.”

But there’s been a silver lining to this dark cloud. Because of the health scare, Derek and sister Julianne have been reunited!

As we’ve been following, Derek made the bold decision to include Julianne’s ex-husband Brooks Laich in his wedding party last year… Which is especially awkward considering how things between the former spouses ended. There was definitely some beefing going on behind closed doors. But Julianne and Derek now have a completely “clean slate.”

During an interview with People on Tuesday ahead of the release of her book Everything We Never Knew, Julianne spoke about her and her big brother coming together amid his wife’s health issues:

“Something happens and it just is like a clean slate. Especially with what just happened with Derek and Haley, there could have been little things just kind of looming or lingering in the background, but when you’re left with life-or-death situations, nothing else matters.”

So true. She continued:

“Whatever little things of competition there are or whatever it might be, those things just go away.”

Speaking more broadly about her family, the Footloose star added:

“The thing that hurts the most is when we’re not connected. And so sometimes you do the thing that hurts the most, which is remove yourself because you’re trying to protect yourself. So our family is like any other family. We have our situations and our s**t, but our deepest desire is to connect. And I think we all really have a strong desire to make that happen.”

She had “part of her skull” removed during the procedure. So Hayley then underwent a cranioplasty surgery in order to replace the part taken out. Thankfully, the procedure went well! Derek shared an update with fans last week, revealing the surgery was “successfully completed as planned.” And now it looks like she was able to spend the holidays out of the hospital with her hubby. Amazing!

Allison Holker is opening up about how much pain she’s in following the death of her husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss.

As you know, the dance icon was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a Los Angeles motel on December 13 after he suddenly left home and dropped all contact with his wife. Allison confirmed the tragic news of his passing in a statement to People, remembering the performer as the foundation of their family and an “inspiration” to so many:

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

The So You Think You Can Dance breakout stars got married in 2013, and it seemed they would last forever… We never could have imagined their love story would end like this…

She continued:

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. And just one week following his death, the 34-year-old Dancing With the Stars alum returned to social media with a heartbreaking post about her late husband. Posting a picture of the couple to Instagram on Wednesday, she wrote in the caption:

“My ONE and ONLY Oh how my heart aches. We miss you so much.”

Just gutting. Many people took to the comments section to offer their love and support to Allison, including his TV boss Ellen DeGeneres, who wrote:

“There is so much love coming to you. I hope you can feel it.”

Naomi Campbell also said:

“Thinking of you and your Family and sending my love and strength to you”

Julianne Hough expressed:

Without a doubt, he is greatly missed by so many, especially his family members and three children: Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia. His loved ones have been vocal about how hard this time has been for them over the past week, including Stephen’s mom Connie Boss Alexander. She shared a snapshot from a FaceTime she had with the dancer on IG Stories on Wednesday, writing:

“Oh if only I could FT to heaven…”
