More details are emerging about Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn‘s split.
As you know, over the weekend we learned the superstar had broken up with her boyfriend of 6 years — and it looks like her being a superstar was a big reason they called it quits!

According to DailyMail.com on Monday, the pair began to struggle in their relationship post-COVID when the 33-year-old’s monumental career began to outshine her actor boyfriend’s. A source told the outlet:
“The bottom line for the difficulties in their relationship was that Taylor’s career took priority over Joe’s — which can be awkward for a couple when it’s not balanced. This drove them apart and ultimately, they both realized they were not on the same page anymore.”
The insider continued on to say the 32-year-old’s issues with getting his career off the ground ultimately hit its peak in the relationship when the Anti Hero songstress went back on tour:
“It’s been hard for Joe trying to make it in Hollywood and not quite becoming leading man material while dating one of the most famous women in the world over the last six years.”
It seems wild her career would ever NOT overshadow his. We mean, he’s a successful working actor, but nowhere close to a household name. Meanwhile Taylor Swift is in the discussion for the most famous person on the planet! However, in lockdown, apparently none of that really mattered. They were always together, and at home she was just… Taylor. She wears T-shirts and sneakers. The source explained:
“It was easier during the pandemic when it was just the two of them, but once things returned to normal, Taylor Swift the superstar emerged, and their differences were even more apparent.”
He just couldn’t handle her changing like Midnight Rain…?
The question is, was this the real Taylor he was finally meeting? Or was the real Taylor the one at home with him, not out in public being super famous? And that old Taylor can’t come to the phone anymore?? Sad to think about…
The source confirmed the couple did try and save what was left of their relationship, but in the end it just wasn’t meant to be:
“They really made a go of it and tried everything they could but ultimately were unable to save the relationship.”
Neither Taylor nor Joe have made any sort of comment on their split — and with how notoriously private the both of them were about their romance it’s unlikely we’ll ever hear anything out of either of them about it! The Bejeweled singer isn’t sitting around letting the allegedly amicable breakup get her down, though. She was spotted out and about Monday night in NYC’s West Village with her good friend and songwriting buddy Jack Antonoff and his fiancée Margaret Qualley. And she looks AH-mazing! That post-splitsville glow is seriously glowing!!
