Sabrina Carpenter‘s recent collaboration with Kim Kardashian didn’t occur without a major conversation between the singer and her very close pal Taylor Swift!
As you may remember, back in April, the 25-year-old kicked up some controversy by starring in a campaign for Kim’s brand SKIMS. That was a major surprise to many, since Carpenter is extremely close friends with the mastermind behind The Tortured Poets Department — who has an infamously bad relationship with the Kardashians star. Eyebrows were raised all over social media when Sabrina appeared to align with Kim! But now… it turns out she only did so AFTER having a long chat about it with Travis Kelce‘s girlfriend!

During an interview with Rolling Stone that was published as a feature on Monday, the Espresso singer revealed that she was “very communicative” with Swift about the decision to do a brand deal with her arch-rival! Not mentioning SKIMS by name, Carpenter nevertheless tried to tamp down any rumors that have been bubbling up for the last couple months about discord between her and the Blank Space singer over the decision. She said:
“As much as people want to believe you’re tuned into every little thing, I’m not because I’m constantly working. In that scenario, I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end.”
Uh-huh. Sounds like she got the OK from her pal!
So… it wasn’t awkward? Ya know, doing a shoot and a full campaign for a woman with whom your best friend has gotten into such a big feud?? Well… no! Carpenter claimed that it wasn’t awkward at all! The pop star said:
“It was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do.”
Hmmm…
Do y’all believe that?! Not weird at all?? Really?? Anyways, as if to double on that positive dynamic in the Rolling Stone chat, Sabrina also absolutely gushed about Taylor! She said the Fortnight singer is in “such a different echelon” compared to other recording artists right now, and added:
“I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she’s done. … She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realize I needed those songs. We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration.”
And Sabrina even got an early preview at one particular Swift song before it wound up on TTPD:
“She played me But Daddy I Love Him before it came out, and that’s also one of my favorites.”
Wow!
