It’s been the talk of the whole internet, and now two years down the line, girlfriend Kaia Gerber‘s mom Cindy Crawford confirmed the 32-year-old is still mimicking The King.

On a new episode of Watch What Happens Live  this week, host Andy Cohen asked her about her opinion on Austin’s accent, to which she said:

“I just … That’s Austin to me. I didn’t know that he was from Anaheim. He spent so long being Elvis that I think it just stuck. I’ve never heard him … like, I didn’t know him pre-Elvis. So that’s just Austin to me.”

LOLz!

Back when the supermodel was only 8 years old, she sadly lost her little brother Jeffrey Crawford (pictured above) to childhood leukemia. In the past she’s spoken about the tragic loss, keeping the memory of her brother alive, but now she’s opening up about what his death meant for her and her sisters, especially.

On Sunday’s episode of the Kerry Corrigan Wonders podcast, the 58-year-old said she and her two sisters Chris and Danielle Crawford navigated the loss — and sadly experienced survivor’s guilt from it:

“My dad wanted a boy, so the fourth was the boy and I think that there was a lot of guilt.”

She explained how their dad, John Crawford, wanted a son so bad, all three girls felt it would have been better if one of them had died in Jeffrey’s place:

“There’s like that survivor guilt of the other kids and especially because we knew that my dad really wanted a boy. We felt like ‘Well it should’ve been one of us.’ It was so weird, for years, my sisters and I would all have these same nightmares, that it should’ve been one of us.”

So heartbreaking!

The pain has followed Cindy for years. Only in the past few years did her therapist help her navigate some of the complex emotions around the subject of her brother’s passing. She said:

“Just recently, I was doing some coaching through Covid. I actually had time to do real work, and I realized that one of the questions the coach asked me was something like, ‘What did you need to hear at that time that you didn’t hear?’ and I realized. And my mom wouldn’t have known to say this, she was 26 years old and had just lost a child, but I needed to hear, ‘Yes, we’re so sad that Jeff has died, but we’re so happy you are here.'”

Aww… There’s no way to go back and say those things. But maybe some parents out there hearing this story will take an extra moment to consider what their kids need to hear after a tragedy? We can only hope.

“What she made of her career, there wasn’t really someone’s footsteps to follow. And I thought it was so cool that she always had that ambition, and she did things where people told her, ‘This will ruin your career. Don’t do this.’ And she trusted her instincts.”

When Prince Philip visited Prince William at the teenager’s boarding school dorm in one scene, the late royal checked out several posters on the wall of three iconic ’90s supermodels. Who were they? None other than Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crawford.

Cindy only appeared in the show through the old photo. However, the moment had her thinking back to when she first met Diana and William – around the time he “just discovered” supermodels. Oh! Reacting to her “cameo,” she wrote in the caption:

In a new Apple TV+ documentary series called The Super Models, Naomi opened up alongside fellow stars Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford about her rise to fame. And she couldn’t help but praise her friends for all they did to help her get to where she is today!

The 53-year-old began by recalling her childhood growing up in an Afro-Jamaican household in the UK, noting she experienced racism since she was very young. But she was tough. Recalling an incident when she was just five and called the N-word in elementary school, she shared:

“I wasn’t going to accept being bullied at school for the color of my skin. My mother was paying my school fees just like everybody else. I had every right to be there, so take your bullying somewhere else, is how I felt.”

Good for her! But it got worse she got to the US as a teen — to pursue her modeling career.

Things were different when she moved to New York because she didn’t exactly have her family’s support:

“At the time, modeling was kind of looked down on in my family. My mother had no idea I was doing any of it.”

Aw! It wasn’t just that her mom didn’t like the idea of her modeling — she warned Naomi about racism in America and prejudices in the South specifically. Oof. Still all too real today as white supremacism rears its ugly head again, and unfortunately it DOESN’T have any geographical limitations. But back to the ’80s… While the author wasn’t willing to let racism stop her, she realized instantly there was truth to what she’d been told:

“I started to understand culturally that I was going to have to work really hard to feel accepted. There was no way I could go back home with my tail between my legs … I was going to go harder and further.”

But even just her daily life was a struggle at times — and she benefited greatly from her friendship with two fellow future supermodels: Christy and Linda! She said:

“I would put my hands out many times on New York City streets, and the taxis would fly by. Then Christy would put out the hand and they would stop. The guy would be like, ‘I don’t want to go to Brooklyn,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m not going to Brooklyn.’ I was just like, why is he saying that? It didn’t strike me until, you know, Christy would have to stand out in front of me, get me a taxi to get it to work.”

Ugh, so terrible.

The one good thing to come of this was that the models went on to live together and form a long-lasting friendship. Naomi now considers Christy and Linda “sisters” for the way they both stood up for her against discrimination. Linda chimed in:

“Naomi wasn’t always booked to do the shows. I didn’t understand. Naomi, I thought, was more beautiful, had a much more rocking body than I did and a better strut. [I was] like, ‘Why aren’t they booking her?’ I said to them, ‘If you don’t book her, you don’t get me.’”

Amazing!

Still thankful, the English fashionista praised Linda for her support while adding that both ladies “absolutely put themselves on the line for [me],” something that kept her going even on the worst days. “I didn’t even know it was a real job. I didn’t know how I would get from DeKalb, Ill., to a magazine.”

Once she got the fashion bug, though, she was determined to make it in the industry. However, not everyone in her family was on board for her career choice! Her dad, John Crawford, had been against modeling. In fact, he believed it was not a real job — and was similar to prostitution! OMG!!

“My dad really didn’t understand that modeling was a real career. He thought modeling was, like, another name for prostitution.”

Damn, John!

Eventually, Cindy managed to convince her father and her mother, Jennifer Sue Crawford-Moluf, that it was not anything like prostitution whatsoever and that she was making the right decision for herself. They even became supportive enough to tag along to her “very first modeling appointment.” And we guess the rest was history from there!

Thankfully, her parents did not talk her out of pursuing a modeling career, as she has since become one of the most famous supermodels in the business! What might have been…

Lucky for her, she wasn’t tasked with interviewing her ex-lover. However, when it came to the Vanity Fair Oscar party held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, there was no producer to schedule someone else in her place!

It’s unclear just when they ran into one another, but the two were spotted outside of the venue, standing side-by-side next to Hollywood vet Sharon Stone.
