Social Worker Knocked On Wrong Door While Doing On-Site Visit -- Man Who Answered Allegedly Beat Her To Death

This is so, so horrifying…

A New York man has been arrested following the brutal beating death of a social worker. Last month, Maria Coto was on an on-site visit for her job, according to authorities via The Journal News, when she reportedly knocked on the wrong door — the residence of Hasseem Jenkins‘ uncle. It was then Jenkins allegedly opened the door of his uncle’s home and began beating Coto.

According to a statement from Westchester County’s District Attorney’s Office, Jenkins “repeatedly punched her in the face, chased her into a neighbor’s apartment and repeatedly kicked her in the head while wearing heavy boots”.

WTF!!!

Awful and senseless! And that’s not even the scariest part…

Per reports, as the beating of the 56-year-old woman began, she was still able to call the cops. Tragically, her phone was taken away… She ran to a neighbor’s house, but he allegedly followed her and continued his crime.

When Peekskill Police Department arrived on scene, they found a bloodied and beaten Coto. They were able to detain Jenkins, but he resisted arrest at first, and was discovered to have Coto’s phone in his pocket with the 911 call still active! After his arrest, the DA’s office gathered a statement from him, in which, they say, he claimed he started attacking Coto because he feared she would start attacking him first.

Um… what?? In that case, why the heck did he chase her when she ran into the neighbor’s place?? And, in his own words per the DA, continue to kick her in the head as she bled heavily?! Disgusting.

The DA’s office reported Coto suffered “severe brain bleed, brain swelling and multiple facial fractures” and was placed on life support. She stayed on life support for five weeks before she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Jenkins already had been charged with attacking her, but after her death those charges got upped to two counts of second-degree murder. He was also charged with two counts of burglary and robbery for following her to the neighbor’s house. Tacked on to that were charges of criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest. Per multiple outlets, Jenkins entered a plea of not guilty in court on Tuesday. His next court appearance is this month.

Our hearts go out to anyone mourning the loss of Maria. May she get the justice she deserves.
