The Hero singer announced in a statement to People on Monday that in a “tragic turn of events” both her mother Patricia and her older sister Alison died separately on the same day. The day Mimi provided her statement, David Baker, a longtime friend, revealed Alison had been in hospice for three weeks prior to her death. He also said Mariah knew, but didn’t ever reach out. Now, he’s speaking out more about his friend’s “tough life” and estrangement from the My All singer.

Speaking to People on Wednesday about Alison’s passing, David explained:

“We saw it coming, but it’s still a shock. She got ill fairly quickly and a month later, she’s gone.”

Unfortunately, the last time Mariah saw her late sister was either in 1994 or 2002, according to David. Either way, over 20 years.

As we’ve covered in the past, the two had a falling out in ’94 amid Alison’s tough life. She got pregnant with her first child at just 15 years old and because of her lack of work experience, found it difficult to bring home money. So she unfortunately turned to teen prostitution. In 1987, she had her second child, and just one year after that, she tested positive for HIV.

On top of all that, she also struggled with substance abuse. The late 63-year-old made it known that Mariah had paid for multiple of her rehab stints, but things finally came to a breaking point in 1994. Patricia apparently went to pick up Alison’s son Michael for a weekend visit but ended up taking him in full time and got temporary custody because she felt Alison was an unfit mother.

Years later, Alison returned the favor. She launched a shocking lawsuit against her late mother, claiming she subjected her to sexual assault in satanic rituals when she was just a child. You can read more about that HERE.

As for Mariah, she made it clear in her 2020 memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey that it was “emotionally and physically safer for [her] not to have any contact” with her big sister.

Such heartbreaking stuff. It’s so sad that things had to go that way for the Carey family.

However, just because Alison wasn’t close with her sister and mother doesn’t mean she had no one. David spoke about first meeting his late friend in 2015 after she suffered a traumatic brain injury during a terrifying home invasion, which affected her short-term memory. It was Alison and Mariah’s brother Morgan who reached out in a Facebook support group asking if anyone would be able to go visit and spend some time in the hospital — and David stepped up. He explained:

“I knew when I saw the request that I was the only person anywhere near Albany, New York, so I said, ‘Well, I’m going to go for this.’ They eventually sent me to the hospital and I met Alison.”

And over the past nine years, David said “hardly a day went by” where he and his friend didn’t speak over the phone:

“I saw somebody who needed help and I knew I could do it. She’d tell me that she was so glad I was around. More recently, before she got sick, if I went somewhere for an hour, she’d call and say, ‘When are you coming back?’ And I’d say, ‘Well, I’ll be there in 20 minutes.’ And then she’d call a second time and say, ‘When are you coming back?’ Because short-term memory was affected by the brain injury.”

He even helped find her Coxsackie apartment in New York three years ago, which was ultimately where she passed away. He told the outlet:

“She got her wish. She died in her own home.”

But before that, David shared that her four kids — three sons and one daughter — visited two to three weeks before her death. And her daughter, who apparently lived close, even began visiting daily.

We’re so glad to hear she was surrounded by loved ones in her final days. She lived such a difficult life. May she and Patricia both rest in peace.

On Monday, Alison Carey‘s longtime friend David Baker told The US Sun Mariah “cut off” contact with her big sister, and that their relationship next to nonexistent ever since:

“Alison was unhappy that her ‘baby sister’ had cut off contact with her. She talked about it frequently. She wondered if Mariah or any of her relatives would come to her funeral. I am told that a memorial service is planned for a future date, but nothing now.”

As we reported on Monday, Mariah told People that her sister and mother Patricia sadly died on the same day “in a tragic turn of events.” She said:

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

The 55-year-old didn’t reveal the details of how her mom and sis died. Her mother was 87, so it’s just been assumed natural causes. Alison was quite sick, too, apparently.

According to the outlet, Alison had been dealing with drug addiction, homelessness, and a multitude of health issues over the last nine years, including being HIV positive. Just last year, Alison took to social media to reveal she was “living without teeth” because she didn’t “have the money” for dental work.

She was reportedly in hospice for the final three weeks of her life. David claims Mariah was made aware of Alison’s condition — but never made an effort to reach out:

“No, Mariah has never tried to contact Alison, even after she was told a month ago that Alison was dying. A phone call or, better still, a video call would have meant so much to Alison. But it never came. And now Mariah is ‘heartbroken’ by the loss of her mother and her ‘ex’ sister. That callous rejection added more hurt to Alison’s pain.”

Oof. If true, that’s… that’s rough. But of course we don’t know the most intimate details of their relationship. It’s impossible to judge these situations from the outside.

Obviously David has a different opinion of Alison than Mariah. He remembered his friend fondly while speaking to the outlet:

“Beneath a tough exterior, Alison was a highly intelligent, warm, and sensitive person. I have known her for nine years, and as her friend, and in recent months her care, I will miss her greatly.”

So tragic.

About a week ago, she and son Kevin Hunter Jr. walked into a holistic health store in Newark, New Jersey, and snapped some pictures with the man who runs the place. That’s a BIG deal, because it marks the first time the Wendy Williams Show alum has been seen in public in 18 months!

Per Page Six, Wendy and Kevin went into a shop called Bolingo Balance in the city of Newark. There, they not only purchased some products, but also took pictures with a man named Victor Bowman. He runs the store, and is the son of its late owner — renowned holistic health practitioner Dr. Sebi, AKA Alfredo Bowman. As you can see (below), Wendy was smiling in good spirits as she posed with Victor:

Amazing!

And that’s not all. An employee told Page Six that Wendy was “sharp, upbeat, and aware” during the visit, and had been “very bubbly” while chatting with Bowman. At one point, she sat down with Victor and had him explain some products. The worker noted that while the 60-year-old daytime television alum wasn’t as knowledgeable, she listened closely as they were explained to her:

“She was engaging but wasn’t as familiar with what we do here, so her son was more explaining things. She talked about circulation improvement but didn’t want to get into too much detail on their first meeting and plans to come back in the near future.”

In the end, Bowman sent Williams away with several holistic products, including iron-rich herbs like contribo, sarsaparilla, and bottano oil. Plus, she received a bottle of Dr. Sebi’s famed capsules which promote hormonal balance. Gotta have hormonal balance!

It’s not clear exactly which day Wendy showed up at Bolingo Balance, but per Page Six, Bowman first shared the above photo on his Facebook page on August 19. So, it seems this was a recent development! And considering this is the first time Wendy has been seen in public since March of 2023, it’s big news!

With all that she is going through while battling Graves’ disease, lymphedema, frontotemporal dementia, and even primary progressive aphasia, she’s got a lot on her plate. WHAT HAPPENED?! Unfortunately we don’t know yet. At this time, it’s not exactly clear what Patricia and Alison’s causes of death are. It does seem from the statement they did not die together in a car accident or something, as one might expect. It truly was a tragic, inexplicable coincidence.

On Monday’s very special episode of My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast, Vicki opened up about a recent health issue she had. It was so bad, the Real Housewives of Orange County star had to bring along her beau Michael Smith to explain the parts she forgot due to “amnesia”. OMG!

She revealed it all started earlier this month when she had a routine hair appointment. She said everything was going “as usual” until she started to have gaps in her memory:

“There seems to be about an hour or two that I was missing and I don’t know where I was. So I got to the office … I had a client coming in and she said I was talking gibberish and I wrote an email out and the email didn’t make sense.”

The client she’d been communicating with was a “retired ER physician” and feared the worst — that Vicki might’ve been having a stroke! He reached out to Michael’s daughter Olivia and told her about the situation:

“He got up and told Olivia that I was possibly having a stroke, we didn’t know. I don’t remember anything and [Olivia] took me to the hospital.”

So scary! The Bravolebrity admitted she doesn’t “recall much” about that night, but she was discharged after she was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Sadly, this was only the beginning for her medical issues…

Michael said Vicki did have a sinus infection a few weeks prior, but it felt “different” than the ones she’d had before:

“It lasted a little longer and she was really not feeling that well.”

But that didn’t slow them down at the time. She took her antibiotics and “was doing better” so they went on their vacay to Europe. Michael said things were “OK, for the most part” during their trip, but when they got back to the states, everything started to go awry. When Olivia had to take Vicki to the ER, she called her dad to come home. He recalled:

“[Vicki] was lethargic and she really didn’t understand where she was.”

Doctors were dismissive of the whole thing, satisfied with the sinus infection diagnosis since she’d had one recently. When Michael got home, though, something happened that he described as “one of the scariest” moments of her whole health scare:

“I walk in and she’s pretty much passed out [in the bath]. I grabbed her, pulled her out of the water, put her in bed. The doctor said she just needed to sleep, so I put her in bed and she slept literally 13, 14 hours straight.”

When Vicki finally woke up, however, things did NOT get better. She was “disoriented”, so Michael brought her back to the ER. Doctors took her more seriously this go-around, and quickly got her into an exam room where they realized they’d misdiagnosed her with a sinus infection before — things were MUCH more serious than anyone realized.

The 62-year-old’s boyfriend explained:

“She had a massive infection. It was actually sepsis, but it was pneumonia. And what happened — and I’m no doctor, but when they explained it — is that when your body is fighting that big of an infection and that dangerous of an infection, your whole body attacks it, which affects the brain and everything else in your body because your body sends everything it has to fight it.”

SEPSIS?!? OMG!

Michael said he’s been sticking by his lady’s side until she starts feeling like herself again:

“It was dangerous. I mean, I’m just trying not to play into it, but it was scary.”

Vicki’s recovery has been “a long process” and she’s tried “everything under the sun” to help her get better. In fact, she said Michael and Olivia are her “guardian angels” — because she “would have probably died” had she been home alone. She’s got some major amnesia surrounding the entire ordeal, too:

“I don’t remember much, and that’s the trauma of the brain. It’s very similar to a stroke or PTSD where the brain kind of just goes into quiet mode. … There was just a litany of things that could have happened and gone wrong and it didn’t.”

Her trauma is completely understandable, too. She recalled she had a conversation with a neurologist who revealed she only stood a “10 to 20 percent” chance of surviving the infection:

“I wanted to be sure I was understanding everything correctly. … I said, ‘Did I hear this right, that I had a 10 to 20 percent [chance of] survival?’ And the lady said on the phone — she’s been calling me every day — she said, ‘Yes, the sepsis that went to your body is deadly and you survived it.’”

We’re so glad she made a recovery! We can’t imagine how stomach-churning that was to hear…

Vicki admitted it’s taken a toll on her mentally:

“I cry a lot. And Michael keeps saying, ‘Why do you keep crying?’ I don’t have an answer. I mean, rewind a week ago, we were in Barcelona walking 16 [to] 20,000 steps and we were having the time of our life. And three days later, [I’m in the hospital].”

So sad. But she’s making sure everyone knows she’s okay now. Michael told listeners:

“She will be fine. She’s coming out of it.”

In Friday’s episode of the late actress’ podcast Let’s Be Clear, Rose reflected on the pair’s friendship, her biggest regrets, and the last time she saw Shannen before she died from cancer. As Perezcious readers know, the pair had a complicated relationship after Rose replaced Shannen on Charmed, showing up to play the Halliwells’ half-sister, Paige Matthews, beginning in 2001. Of course, that was the same year Shannen (AKA Prue Halliwell) was fired amid a rift with co-star Alyssa Milano.

In the podcast episode, Rose noted that at the time she “joined Charmed [she] did not understand the backstory” and was “just trying to keep [her] head above water.” She explained “they made it sound like she was difficult,” elaborating elsewhere:

“I was just told she was fired and nobody talked about her. […] I was very famous at that point, but I was persona non grata, non-hirable. I caused disruptions everywhere I went. This is something that Shannen [and I] later talked about that she related to: the weight of what it’s like to have the media machine lie about you.”

Despite pressure, Rose refused to lean into the “war” everyone wanted her to start with Shannen:

“From the get go, every question was like, ‘Do you think Shannen Doherty hates you?’ ‘Do you think she’s jealous of you?’ ‘What do you think?’ And I refused to take the bait. They wanted me to start a war with her, and I was like, absolutely not. And to her credit, she absolutely did not do that either.”

Because of their history, many assumed they were in a bad place at the time of Shannen’s death. But it was actually quite the opposite! McGowan shared that they had been on good terms for a while — except the whole thing played out in private. This is one of Rose’s big regrets right now, as she candidly shared:

“I do regret not doing the podcast with her, but at the same time, I think because so much of our relationship had played out publicly, that to have that period of time just for us was really special.”

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum died at age 53 in July after a years-long cancer battle. Now, Rose regrets that she didn’t have more time with Shannen, too. She added:

“I wish I could have gotten to know her sooner. I don’t know how that would have happened, but I wish we could have. We both despised corporate feminism, as I call it, like slogans, and fake activists, and people that are just doing it for the clicks and the glory, but without actually putting in the work and the trauma that it takes to do that work.”

The Jawbreaker star acknowledged that she and Shannen were very similar, including in the way they both preferred directing to acting. Rose recalled:

“She really lived so many lives in one life, and that I certainly relate to. I know a lot of us can, but she lived life on a grand scale with gusto and just badass fun. One of the things we learned, I think, from each other by being outspoken was actually how much more similar we were than different.”

As for their last interaction, Rose recalled:

“About a month before she died, we got to be together just alone, just me and her, for the first time ever, and for the first time in 25 years. It was so cool, and we just actually didn’t want the night to end. And it was both wholesome and — that word is so dorky, but here we are. It was sweet.”

Aw! The precious alone time they shared was the perfect opportunity for them to heal old wounds and grow closer, she noted:

“She told me stuff that I’d never known, and I told her stuff that she didn’t know. And she had some questions for me, and I answered them and vice versa.”

This get-together was also the first time the Scream alum, 50, learned Shannen was preparing to try a new “experimental treatment” for her health condition prior to passing. She reflected:

“I had a feeling when she said about the treatment, I just had this feeling that this was not really going to go well, and she looked frightened for the first time. She was frightened. And I gave her a big hug, and I told her I loved her.”

Their time together may have been cut short, but at least Rose was able to tell Shannen just how she felt while she still could! That in and of itself is a bittersweet gift. So glad they were on good terms and shared such special moments before this tragic death, even despite the regrets that Rose has now in how things played out around them.

Meanwhile, Sid hopped on social media to share his own update while getting a chest x-ray and the wounds to his face and arms dressed. He said:

“Hi everybody, I had an explosion in my face. I’m OK, I’m going to be OK. But I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms. … You can see I’m singed everywhere — my eyebrows are singed, my mouth is blistered… both my arms are pretty bad.”

Despite the pain, the DJ promised fans he plans to return to the stage for the band’s next show on September 1 in Oklahoma. Whether that will actually happen, we shall see because his injuries look pretty bad! But Sid is positive he’ll be on that stage:

“I’m gonna be alright you guys, and I don’t care what it takes, I will see you on tour … You guys take care of yourself, and I will take better care of myself. I’ll see you soon.”

Even the band expects him to return to work very soon! They issued a statement on Friday night, saying:

“Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body. He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes, and will see you all soon.”

Hmm. Again, we’ll see! As for what happened to the rocker? He explained in a follow-up video that he was “out working on the farm” he and Kelly share in Iowa and tried stoking a burn pile when it suddenly exploded. Whoa! So scary! See (below):

In Matthew Perry’s book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, published in 2022, the actor opened up about his past drug use as the “Big Terrible Thing.” But he also spoke about the drug that ultimately killed him — ketamine. When discussing that one, however, he only had good things to say.

It should have been a huge red flag…

Matty’s use of the drug began as ketamine therapy. The Friends star had started using the hallucinogenic drugs under medical supervision as part of a treatment plan for depression, during which doctors would combine ketamine with the anxiety medication Ativan — and it worked wonders. Until, as we all know, it became the problem.

The comedian recalled it feeling like “being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel.” He remarked:

“Ketamine felt like a giant exhale. They’d bring me into a room, sit me down, put headphones on me so I would listen to music, blindfold me, and put an IV in.”

The 17 Again alum openly struggled with addiction for much of his adult life, so his description of the drug is pretty harrowing now. He said:

“Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is a synthetic form of it now, and it’s used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression. Has my name written all over it — they might as well have called it ‘Matty.’”

Oof. The late 54-year-old recalled getting used to the hallucinogenic effects, noting he would often “disassociate” and “see things” during his sessions. He explained:

“I’d been in therapy for so long that I wasn’t even freaked out by this. Oh, there’s a horse over there? Fine — might as well be.”

He went on:

“As the music played and the K ran through me, it all became about the ego, and the death of the ego.”

In retrospect he’s absolutely just writing about taking drugs. We mean, right?? In the same way, it wasn’t always a good experience, as he expressed:

“I often thought that I was dying during that hour. ‘Oh,’ I thought, ‘this is what happens when you die.’ […] Yet I would continually sign up for this s**t because it was something different, and anything different is good.”

Jeez. That’s hard to read all this knowing this really would be how he died. As Perezcious readers know, the Fools Rush In alum passed away on October 28, 2023, after he was found unconscious in his jacuzzi. It was determined he died from the “acute effects of ketamine use,” and his assistant Kenneth Iwamasa was just arrested for involvement in the death. Per the Department of Justice, he was the person who administered the fatal dose of ketamine that killed the beloved star. Four others, including two doctors, were also charged.

So, so heartbreaking that something Matthew once thought was helping him ultimately just fed into his addiction further, and that those in his inner circle didn’t try to put a stop to it. Unfortunately no one who read the book clocked the issue he was developing with ketamine either. We all really believed he was sober.

During the reported incident, Brandi — who is not named in the suit — allegedly mounted Caroline “on the couch holding Manzo down with her body, forcibly squeezed Manzo’s cheeks together and thrust her tongue in Manzo’s mouth, while humping her.” What the f**k.

However, by the time someone came forward to back the longtime Bravolebrity’s version of events, it was too late in her eyes. The damage was already done by that point. She lost job opportunities. Her health spiraled out of control. And her reputation went down the toilet. To Brandi, Bravo and Andy “ruined” her entire life. And she made that point crystal clear in an interview published with the US Sun on Thursday.

Insisting that she “didn’t do anything wrong,” Brandi slammed the network for not helping her out during the scandal:

“That’s why she’s not suing me, because I didn’t do anything wrong. And I think she’s suing Bravo, because she wants money. And what would she get from me? My rental? I don’t have any money to give her. I think that Bravo hung me out to dry for a storyline, for a show, knowing that all of that press would cause me to lose other jobs, and it did, and they didn’t care. They don’t care about me. It went from I sexually harassed someone to sexual misconduct. There were even people who were calling me a rapist. People just were tearing me apart. And the fact that Bravo didn’t say anything then, it’s like ‘Help me. Help me. Tell the truth. Help me!.’ I hate them.”

Oof. Brandi claimed Bravo asked her “not to talk” about the incident afterwards, too — not that it stopped her:

“They told me, keep my head down. It’s gonna be fine. I have emails from them like, ‘Keep your head down, it’s gonna be fine, do what we say,’ all the while they had every intention of just hanging me out to dry for the sake of a storyline on a TV show.”

Eventually, the whole ordeal started to take a massive toll on Brandi’s physical and mental health. Months after the alleged incident in Morocco, she ended up in the hospital for three days as her “face started swelling up,” her “eyes went blurry,” and her “hands got really stiff.” She recalled the “scary” situation:

“In July of last year, I started having these attacks of swelling in my face, and I was put in the hospital in October. They said I had stress-induced angioedema, and I would just need to control my stress.”

But managing her stress, as she pointed out, was “easier said than done.” Between the allegations against her and having no income anymore, she struggled to follow the doctor’s orders:

“When you’re being called a sexual predator, or that you sexually harassed someone – when that narrative is out there and Bravo literally could have stepped in at any time and helped me. They could have helped me, but it wasn’t until they got a lawsuit against them that they said Brandi didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe this is all for a storyline, and you just wanted to ruin my life and my health for a storyline you’re speaking up a year and a half later, and you could have said this in the beginning, I lost three shows.”

Things have become so bad for Brandi that she doesn’t “leave” her house these days. At one point, she was even “suicidal”:

“It’s just consumed my life. The cancel culture thing is real, and I didn’t do anything wrong, and they didn’t care to correct it until they got a lawsuit against them. I was literally suicidal, and if it wasn’t for Phaedra [Parks] and my kids, I don’t know where I’d be right now.”

It wasn’t just her overall well-being that took a hit. Her business opportunities also went out the window. She hasn’t even worked since coming back from RHUGT filming! Brandi said:

“In the past year and a half since I returned home from Morocco, I have not worked, not one job. I had jobs lined up overseas, those were canceled.”

And she doesn’t just blame Bravo for ruining her life. She also blames Andy. Brandi called out the What What Happens Live host, saying:

“When Andy quits you it’s not just that you’re not going to work for Bravo ever again. You’re not going to work for Bravo, you’re not going to work for NBC, you’re not going to work for Warner Brothers, which is a part of every TV show. Every time I see Warner Brothers, every time I turn on the TV, I get depressed. I’m like, I’m never working again. It’s not just Andy. There’s all of these huge companies behind him that will ruin your life, and they have.”

Brandi feels Andy thinks her “life is a joke” and “would pull the strings” when it came to her career:

“Like he’s saying, ‘Okay, we’ll give Brandi, no work now, and we’re gonna cancel her and see if she is okay. And I’m not. My health is f**ked and, like, I don’t want to talk about it. It’s been a really hard year, and I’m finally strong enough to say, ‘You know what f*** you, you’re gonna pay for everything that you did. Everyone’s gonna know what a horrible boss you were.’”

And Brandi’s made sure to expose his inappropriate behavior over the years! She even dropped that video of Andy and Below Deck’s Kate Chastain inviting her to watch them sleep together! And when asked if she believes that RHUGT Morocco will ever see the light of day, Brandi responded:

“I know that after they see this interview, I’m not going to get a great edit. So, hopefully not.”
