In a lengthy Us Weekly cover story on Wednesday, sources opened up about how the Duchess of Sussex has found her new purpose after taking her Prince Charming and going home. Noting that she’s gone through many career changes in her past, a family friend told the outlet:

“You’re established in one world and then you enter another and your narrative is dictated by external forces.”

Not easy to navigate!

After leaving the royal family, Meghan and Prince Harry made a splash by doing several media projects and interviews, but it quickly became apparent none of it was panning out the way they had hoped. Their podcast, their Netflix deal, nothing was hitting.

In recent months, however, the Suits alum has clearly been preparing for her next shot. Not only is she teasing the launch of her lifestyle company American Rivera Orchards, but she’s also taking pointers from Hollywood powerhouses like Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow. She joined them and others at the house of broker Amy Griffin for a one-day business summit in July, an insider dished:

“Meghan was there to network. She was very kind and humble and eager to learn.”

Over the summer, she’s also gotten more involved with various charity organizations, like The Parents’ Network, a campaign to protect kids from online harm. She and her hubby also made a trip to Colombia. A second insider reflected:

“Meghan has transitioned from actress to royal to entrepreneur. She’s worn many hats, but she believes age and experience have [prepared her] for a bigger purpose in life. She’s very happy with the role she’s carved out.”

It was important for her to take the time to process everything and come up with a new plan of action after her initial media blitz post-royals, the family friend acknowledged:

“After Spare, [Harry and Meghan] realized, ‘OK, we’re ready to move on. We want to focus on our future. We can have meaning and importance separate from the lives we had previously.’”

They added:

“Meghan doesn’t harbor any negative feelings. She just wants peace, and knows you can’t find peace if you harbor resentments.”

She seemed to address this herself earlier this month in Colombia, saying:

“So much of how I approach things is less about the fight and more about how do we show up in the space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity.”

Take her feud with Princess Catherine, for example. While she was happy to wish her well amid her cancer diagnosis, Meghan and Harry have not spoken out about other royal matters — and that’s on purpose. The family friend dished:

“Meghan’s team gets asked daily to comment on stuff that has nothing to do with their lives now. They have left it behind.”

She’s also left some of her own family members behind, like controversial father Thomas Markle, the first source said:

“Meghan still has no contact with her dad. She does not plan on having a relationship with him, and he has not met his grandkids. That ship has sailed.”

Instead, she leans on her pals and “has a great group of friends who are all successful in their own ways who she really trusts.” This includes Serena Williams and Ellen DeGeneres plus other local moms she meets up with regularly. The first insider added that she’s “very close” with neighbor and Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd while a second insider said she’s befriended entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, cofounder of IT Cosmetics.

Things are a bit more difficult for Harry. He “has a small [group] of close friends,” the second source shared, claiming he prefers to keep his inner circle small for “understandable reasons.” While that may be true, we have been hearing his UK friends don’t like his wife and that’s a big reason he’s become more lonely. Not to mention, most live in the UK, and he had to move to California — so that can’t be easy! Regardless, it sounds like he’ll always put his family first, the source went on:

“He’ll always be fond of his home country, but the way he views it, his wife and kids are his priority. If that means making sure they’re safe and happy in Montecito, then he supports that.”

The husband and wife are both very hands-on parents who want their kids Archie and Lilibet to have normal childhoods despite their fame, the family friend continued:

“They take the kids to school, they pick them up, and they are very active and present with them throughout the day.”

Referencing the Duke’s battle for security in the UK, the family friend insisted the children are going to stay out of the spotlight for their safety, noting:

“I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t. … [Prince] William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable. And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [them but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”

It sounds like the kids may not even understand their royal heritage yet, as the friend pointed out, “they’ll have those conversations in due time.” Right now, Meg and Harry want the little ones to feel loved for who they are:

“They’re so well-mannered. Archie is sweet and curious and playful, and Lili is vibrant and happy.”

The second source added that the parents are happy just being parents right now. Thankfully they apparently have plenty of time despite working on their Archewell Foundation campaigns and launching their business ventures. But as the kids get older, anything is possible:

“Afterwards who’s to say? But I think the focus is very much on raising their two children.”

And staying on the same page really helps. Meghan and Harry have been leaning on each other for support this whole time, the friend shared:

“They’re so in sync. Throughout their relationship, they’ve stood together no matter what.”

The second insider revealed that they enjoy downtime together and try to keep a positive mindset and are motivated to do their best work always, saying:

“It’s rooted in the bonds they share together.”

As for their new life in California, they do a lot of low-key activities like gardening, hiking, and cooking. The second insider described it as “a California lifestyle.” What, they don’t garden in Merry Old England??

While it was no doubt difficult to walk away from the royal family, they do have a big bonus now. They can work on “projects they are passionate about as opposed to being given projects to do,” making the work “more personal,” the second insider dished. Good point!

Along with The Parents’ Network, Meghan is working on her new initiative, the Welcome Project, which helps empower female refugees from Afghanistan. A third source who has worked with the former actress told the outlet:

“Female advocacy remains a centerpiece of her philanthropic intent.”

She’s also looking forward to launching her lifestyle brand sometime early next year, around the time her new Netflix series is supposed to premiere. The second source expressed:

“[ARO] will likely be very much in line with who Meghan is as a person. She loves hosting events, and she’s very thoughtful about how she treats her guests whenever they come over.”

The third insider said her series “is going to be a take on her and the joy of living,” including “little things she’s learned in terms of being a modern-day hostess.” It’s been rumored Harry may make an appearance. For now, the sources just promised there would be many familiar faces joining in.

So, Meghan has a lot on her plate coming up — but she’s NOT planning to run for office, return to acting, or write a memoir despite rampant rumors, the third confidant maintained. She’s just being Meghan:

“Meghan’s in the middle of her story right now.”

Maybe one day! Right now, a big passion of the 43-year-old’s is simply to give back, the family friend added:

“She knows her life would be extraordinarily different if she did not marry who she married. There is privilege and so much room to do good. She wants to meet the moment and make good on her good fortune.”

The friend noted that it was hard for her to “be herself” in the royal household which is why this change of pace is so refreshing, they shared:

“Most people are not really allowed to be themselves — if you’ve watched The Crown, I think that’s pretty understood.”

That’s why she’s so excited about this moment:

“There’s air and space and room. She can just be who she is.”

It’s certainly an exciting time with so much still to come from Meg! We just hope her business ventures and media projects are more successful this time around! Otherwise, she’s gonna have to come up with a whole new plan!

As we noted back on Friday, with September on deck (OMG seriously?! It’s nearly fall already??) time is up for the royal fam’s summer vacations. It’s back to school for the kids, and back to work for Wills! And with several notable public appearances and official events looming, it’s back to being clean-shaven, too! Now, we’re just left to wonder what his estranged brother Prince Harry must think about all these facial hair moves…

On Tuesday, publisher Penguin Random House announced that the Duke of Sussex‘s book will be published in paperback in the US on October 22. And two days later, on October 24, it’ll hit shelves in the UK! But there’s an interesting addition to note here that is TOTALLY changing the dynamic of this version. And if it works… it might be a major step towards reconciliation with Harry’s estranged father King Charles, and his estranged brother Prince William.

See, in addition to announcing those October release dates on Tuesday, the publisher also announced that the contents of the paperback version of Spare will remain completely unchanged from the hardcover version! That’s a big deal!! In most cases, paperback editions include extra chapters and content so as to entice people to buy them long after the hardcover versions of books have come out.

But with Spare, there will be NO changes. So, no new surprises to William, Charles, and the rest of the royal family! We thought for a long time that there would be additional chapters involved in the paperback version. But Penguin Random House has opted not to go that route.

And that’s why this is such a big (non) move. Per People, insiders are already noting that the decision to run the book without any updates is widely being viewed as a small but important step towards reconciliation between Harry and his estranged family. There’s no other shoe to fall, no more drama to reveal, no more surprises to unearth. They’ll know what to expect with the paperback version and (theoretically) be able to handle it!

Princess Catherine‘s husband has been enjoying a low-key and mostly private summer break at Anmer Hall with his beloved wife and their three kids — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It’s something the family obviously needed! But in just a couple weeks, the summer will end, and he’ll return to his official royal duties. The grind never stops!

On Thursday, Kensington Palace announced that the 42-year-old father of three will be visiting the Homelessness: Reframed art exhibit at London’s Saatchi Gallery on September 5 for his first event back. That showing is about homelessness in the United Kingdom and tells the stories of people affected by it. Tthe Prince of Wales will be there in an official capacity, representing the Crown with a summit to observe the art and meet stakeholders.

Not something Will knows anything about, right? Considering he’s leaving one of his stately homes to see it.

Well, this event is actually personal for William! The project is a collaboration with the Homewards program, which he and his Royal Foundation launched back in June 2023. Their goal is to end homelessness in the UK for good. Per People, William’s spokesperson relayed this statement from the Prince of Wales about the persistent issue of unhoused people:

“This is an issue that can be prevented and ended.”

So important! And such a good cause! This will certainly be a worthy way for William to dip his proverbial toe back into the world of officially royal outings.

BTW, this upcoming engagement will be Will’s first public appearance since mid-July when he and Prince George popped up at the UEFA European Championship soccer final England played against Spain in Berlin, Germany. And of course, these recent months have been trying amid Catherine’s ongoing cancer battle. We know King Charles‘ first-born son has relished in these last few critical summer months of being able to be near to her, and carry on their lives in private.

But soon, he’ll return to his royal responsibilities. We’re sure that more drama will inevitably come. But for now, the first official royal event is on the docket, and with it, the man who shall be King will get back to what he has done all of his life. Thoughts, Perezcious readers?? It’s no secret Will and Camilla have never been the best of friends. Considering her affair with King Charles III amid his marriage to Princess Diana, that was always bound to be a complicated relationship!

The fam has put on a rather united front for the public lately. But apparently, things are still tense, even all these years later — and not just because of the affair! Recalling the moment William met Camilla when he was 17, royal expert Christopher Andersen told Us Weekly on Monday:

“She was shaking like a leaf. As soon as William left, she said she needed a gin and tonic.”

LOLz! WHUT??

While they’ve always seemed to get along in public, the Prince of Wales seemed to snub Camilla in July when he removed her sister Annabel Elliot (Charles’ chief interior designer) from the Duchy of Cornwall payroll. Andersen admitted there’s ongoing tension between the queen and future king, but he insisted it wasn’t meant to be a diss, arguing it was merely an “inevitable” business move, explaining, “William wants his own team in there.”

Meanwhile, two other sources told the outlet that William and Camilla have made great strides ever since Charles and Princess Catherine were diagnosed with cancer. A source said they have “a familial relationship these days,” while a friend of the Parker Bowles family elaborated:

“William has warmed up to Camilla over time.”

But they’re not out of the woods yet, per the first source:

“There’s a lot to overcome. William and Harry had always distrusted Camilla and felt resentment toward her because of their devotion to their mother. They never felt comfortable opening up to her in any real way.”

One reason Harry and William had issues with Camilla was amid claims she was giving the press negative stories about the royals to boost her image. The source acknowledged:

“William and Harry’s distrust grew when they found out Camilla was leaking stories to the press to make herself look better.”

In Spare, Harry even revealed both brothers had begged their father not to marry his now-wife. So that says a lot! Andersen said they’ve “put on a good front” publicly, “but I don’t think they were happy with Camilla stepping in.” But thanks to being united in their spat with Harry, Will and Camilla were able to grow closer.

A source said that when the Duke of Sussex parted the family in 2020, the other royals were able to put some of their differences aside, sharing:

“It brought them closer. William and Kate don’t want any extra drama or tension in the family — they have enough of that with Meghan [Markle] and Harry.”

Kate Middleton was reportedly a key factor in this reconciliation, the Parker Bowles family friend dished:

“It was really Kate who warmed William to Camilla.”

Catherine was supposedly accepting of Camilla long before the others, the first source added:

“She’s never been dismissive of Camilla and always treated her with kindness.”

Apparently, Will and Kate like Camilla’s down-to-earth personality, the insider added:

“They both like the fact that Camilla’s normal and makes Charles less stuffy. Kate likes her because she brings a real-life relatability into the family. She’s not all about the courtiers waiting on hand and foot. Camilla’s real like Kate is.”

But that may not be the full truth. The royal author had a VERY different opinion, claiming Camilla was initially opposed to Will and Kate marrying! Christopher claimed Camilla didn’t think Kate “was of their class,” revealing:

“Camilla’s a believer in aristocracy [and] kind of a snob.”

Oof! That had to have annoyed William! You know how protective he is of his wife! Fueled in part by that issue, the father of three still isn’t a huge fan of his stepmother but rather “tolerates her.” Ouch. Meanwhile, the author argued Camilla “has always been a little afraid of William.” Yeesh. Certainly sounds like they have a tricky dynamic!

At the end of the day, no matter their issues, William isn’t fighting his father’s romance anymore, the Parker Bowles family friend furthered:

“If his dad’s happy, William’s happy. Camilla and Charles get on so well and laugh all the time. Whenever you see them together, they’re having fun and giggling. That’s what William likes about Camilla — she warms his father up and brings out his human side.”

The source also defended their unusual arrangement which has Charles spending most of his time in Scotland while Camilla prefers staying in Wiltshire, England, where she can be close to her three grandkids (from her children from a previous marriage). The family friend insisted time apart like this is “totally normal in royal and aristocratic circles, and it works for them.” Now that the monarch is battling cancer, though, “she’s been looking after him” and they’ve spent much more time together. A confidant expressed:

“Camilla’s been taking great care of Charles.”

She’s also offered to help Kate with anything she may need during her treatment, as well, which has surely softened tensions with William. Christopher concluded:

“Charles’ illness has put Camilla’s devotion and dedication to her husband more in focus. And I’m sure William appreciates that.”

Health crises can definitely bring families together! Maybe not the whole family, but this is still progress.

According to a new report, Will is beyond angry with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle because they apparently refuse to refer to his wife Princess Catherine by her full name! That’s right — Harry and Meghan are said to still refer to Kate Middleton as “Kate” instead of “Catherine” or Princess Catherine. Seems minor, right? Well, that’s actually a HUGE problem for William!

According to The Daily Beast, the Prince of Wales first really picked up on the Kate/Catherine conundrum in the “get well soon” messages the Spare author and the Suits alum sent to the princess after her cancer diagnosis became public earlier this year.

The princess has been pretty adamant in recent years about wanting to be referred to as Catherine, her birth name, rather than the shortened Kate of which she was known for so many years. When she started dating and then married William, she rose her worldwide profile as part of the royal family as “Kate Middleton”. It’s only recently that anyone has begun calling her Princess Catherine, but it’s what she prefers apparently. Catherine is more official, more mature, more dignified — all that stuff. Especially as Catherine and William prep to one day ascend to the throne together!

But according to that outlet’s insider on Tuesday, Harry and Meghan referred to her only as Kate in their post-diagnosis well wishes earlier this year. And that was seen by William as an “entirely unnecessary and deliberate irritation.”

Ouch!!

As for why William is so angry at the perceived affront from his estranged brother and sister-in-law, the source explained:

“William takes offense at people calling Catherine ‘Kate’ because she has asked to be known as Catherine. It’s a fairly simple wish to respect. I’m sure Meghan wouldn’t like it if William started publicly calling her ‘Meghan Markle.'”

Are… we not supposed to call her Meghan Markle, either??

A close friend of William’s also spoke to the news outlet, levying this revelation about how the chosen name refusal points to much deeper issues between the brothers:

“The fact that Harry and Meghan were unable to bring themselves to use her chosen name, even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis, was noted.”

Oof!

Now, you might react to this like we did at first — which is to be amazed at how trivial the distinction is between Kate and Catherine. And especially among family members! It’s tough when you’ve known someone by one name for so long. But the Kate-Catherine debacle is a VERY long-standing issue for William. That first Daily Beast source explained how everyone very well knows “that it is one of the things that pushes his buttons.” So, why keep doing it if you know it’s going to piss William off?! This is a message in writing! You can edit it! It’s not a slip of the tongue!

That source continued:

“Pushing his buttons while he was going through his wife’s cancer seemed an entirely unnecessary and deliberate irritation. I wonder if the private card began, ‘Dear Kate…'”

And a third source summed it up better than we ever could:

“No one’s saying it’s responsible for all the trouble, but deliberately calling someone by a name they don’t like is just bloody rude. If Harry and Meghan were serious about healing their issue, a good first step would be to call her Catherine.”

Good point!!

And look, we get it, nicknames are a thing. “Robert” becomes “Rob” or “Bob” or “Bobby.” And “William” morphs into “Bill” or “Will” or “Billy.” So it goes! But if the person in question wants you to use their given name, and has been asking politely to be referred to by that name for a long time… why not just do it?! It’s the polite thing to do! Right?

Speaking to Times Radio via Express on Sunday, author Andrew Morton insisted that the brothers’ relationship remains incredibly strained and likely won’t change now that Harry and Meghan Markle have mapped out a new plan for their careers! Morton suggested:

“I think that Harry and Meghan have worked out a life together. They have their own agenda and they have their own causes. And I don’t see any movement whatsoever towards a reconciliation.”

Oof…

With talk of the Suits alum working on her own tell-all memoir, too, it’s clear that the two royal couples are headed in very different directions! It’s not just their own “agendas” that suggest a reconciliation may never come, though. The Diana: Her True Story writer continued:

“I would say that they’ve got an established pattern in their lives. And if any year could have brought about a reconciliation with the King suffering from cancer, and we all know about [Princess Catherine] and her medical problems, this would be the year to have done it. But there’s obviously been no movement in that regard.”

He has a point. Cancer and other serious heath battles typically bring an estranged family back together, but these issues appear to have only made the feud more noticeable! Because of this, author Michael Cole also believes there’s “no chance” that the siblings will mend fences anytime soon. Yikes! He told GB News last week:

“I don’t think there’s any chance at all of there a reconciliation with the brothers now or in the foreseeable future.”

Jeez. That stinks. Michael went on to blame the rift on Harry and Meghan’s public bashings of the royal family, adding:

“It goes back to the Oprah Winfrey interview then the book Spare and all the things that were said in the Netflix six-part series, too much bad blood and William is not going to forgive.”

This comes after sources claimed the brothers haven’t spoken since 2022 when they attended their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral. That said, other sources have hope they’ll one day be able to resolve things, especially if Harry is able to mend things with King Charles III — who reportedly misses his young son despite their ongoing feud, as well.

Meanwhile, cousins Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall are said to be encouraging Willy to make amends with Harry. Former royal butler Grant Harrold told the New York Post earlier this month that Beatrice “could act as a peacemaker for Harry, William and Charles.” He noted:

“She would be someone to initiate peace in the family. She’s close to both William and Harry, as well as the king — and they trust her. It would be her out of anyone else — but she wouldn’t want to be too involved.”

He added:

“I have no doubt she would have spoken to the two brothers at some point to try to improve the situation.”

A much more positive outlook than the other sources! But don’t get excited quite yet. Just because family members want them to resolve things, it doesn’t mean the men are ready to forgive and forget! Grant expressed:

“You’d like to think this time would bring William and Harry closer, but we don’t really know what’s going on behind closed doors. […] They may well be discussing things and communicating, but it’s very difficult. I have no doubt there will be some kind of communication between the brothers, and between Harry and his father. […] Of course, a lot has happened, and a lot has to be resolved and sorted out. This may well be on track, but it may not have even been addressed yet.”

So far, it doesn’t seem like anyone’s willing to communicate with Harry about any topic — even despite his loved ones’ health issues! So, it really does seem like this feud is going to go on for a LONG time!

On Tuesday, an insider told Closer that following Harry’s wild success with his memoir Spare, Meghan may be following up with a tell-all of her own:

“The talk among their friends is that it’s time to take the gloves off and do away with the diplomacy. There’s so much demand for Meghan to speak out, whether that’s in the form of another sit-down interview or even her own memoir. She has the potential to make an absolute fortune and clear up a lot of questions.”

As we mentioned, Meghan spoke to Oprah about her issues with the royal fam, but she hasn’t ever put pen to paper on the subject. So why now? Well, she’s apparently done with the royal fam enough that she’s ready for scorched earth. The straw that broke the camel’s back? She’s reportedly pretty peeved she and her husband didn’t receive invites to the family’s annual summer gathering at Balmoral:

“It doesn’t exactly shock Harry and Meghan that they’re not invited considering they’re not even on speaking terms at this point, but it feels very much like a personal attack designed to hurt and embarrass them. It’s not just about pride or hurt feelings, there are very ugly repercussions for them when this constant narrative that they’re family outcasts keeps getting fed. It impacts their brand as well as their morale, and it has the potential to put them more at risk.”

The source added:

“They’re now being forced to figure out a strategy to fight back, and one option on the table is to go all-out with a big tell-all from Meghan where she completely lays out her side of the story.”

That would certainly be quite the attention grabber… And likely the LAST thing King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine want. OH, and it might be a double-whammy, too. Because Harry reportedly is ready to go with more info for a second volume of Spare — which would pretty much be the nail in the coffin for any hopes of a royal mending. The insider dished:

“Another tell-all would cause so much trouble; this feud would go nuclear. No doubt the time will come down the line that they publicly address all of this. They’re both being very cautious about it all right now, but eventually Meghan is going to want to write her memoir, Harry is going to want to update Spare, and they are going to want to sit down and promote themselves on TV. They will not shy away from answering questions about the royals. For now, they’re biding their time.”

Yikes!!!

Talk of Meghan penning a memoir have been circulating for a while, with royal author Tom Quinn recently speculating:

“Meghan knows that a personal memoir of her time in the UK as a working royal would sell millions of copies and make her the sort of money she craves. All this fills Charles, William and Kate with horror.”

As Perezcious readers know, William and Princess Catherine appeared together in a new video on Sunday, in which they wished the athletes of Team Great Britain well as the Paris Olympics came to a close. The future King had heads turning as he sported a very rare beard — but that wasn’t the only rare sighting!

Kate Middleton also rocked a super sentimental piece of jewelry — perhaps sending a message about the status of her romance!

At one point in the video, as the Princess of Wales raised her hands in view of the camera, she was seemingly spotted wearing a promise ring the 42-year-old gifted her while they were dating as students at the University of St. Andrews. Aw! Look (below):

Per Dress Like a Duchess, Willian gave his then-girlfriend a pearl and garnet rose gold promise ring at some point while they were dating in the early 2000s. The pearl symbolizes William’s June birthday while the garnet represents Kate’s January birthday. The ring reportedly signified “commitment and fidelity as well as a pledge for lifelong love and loyalty.” Cute!

According to the outlet, Kate wore the ring at her 2005 graduation from St. Andrews and often “wore the ring on her middle finger during her youth” (while during this sighting it was on her left ring finger). Despite being such a meaningful piece of bling, she very sparingly wears it in public these days. That said, she has rocked it even after becoming a working royal and being gifted Princess Diana‘s sapphire and diamond engagement ring. For instance, she was seen with this promise ring during a visit to Hope House and Great Tower Scout Camp in 2013.

Certainly looks similar! Though some fans think this latest bling might actually be a new eternity band, possibly gifted to her for the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary back in April. Either way, it’s noteworthy to see her wearing the ring now! Especially when she knows this video was going to be analyzed by so many concerned fans! Maybe she was trying to send a subtle message??

Kate and William have been through so much over the last year. From the resurfacing of cheating allegations, to rumors of marriage trouble amid Kate’s apparent disappearance, to Kate’s cancer battle, it’s been a BIG challenge. Stuff like this is bound to test even the strongest of marriages, and yet it’s only seemed to pull this pair even closer together. Now, to see her sporting this bling — a ring that is all about their “lifelong love and loyalty” — says a lot! No matter how tough things get, they’re sticking by each other! Sweet!

Not only was it a significant sighting of the pair together amid Princess Catherine‘s cancer battle, but her hubby was also sporting some very rare and unexpected facial hair!! Ch-ch-check it out!

Well, it turns out there’s a way more complicated backstory to this look — and of course, it has something to do with his feud with Harry!

Royal fans might remember that back in 2008, the heir to the throne rocked a beard during the family’s traditional Christmas Day church outing. It was a surprising move considering he’d always been clean-shaven, perhaps thanks to his time in the Royal Air Force, where facial hair is forbidden. Folks were torn on the look.

But things were quite different for his younger brother, who returned from a 2013 charity trip to the South Pole with a beard. He shaved shortly after, but the beard returned in 2015. And unlike William, it stuck around — even at his wedding, which was typically a big no-no in royal circles!

In his book Spare, the father of two recalled asking Queen Elizabeth II for her permission to keep his beard for his wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018. He said it was “not a small ask” since beards were forbidden in the British Army and he was planning to wear his uniform for the ceremony. But he felt the facial hair acted as a “security blanket” and the Suits alum had never seen him without it. He wrote:

“I didn’t want her coming down the aisle and seeing a total stranger.”

While Her Majesty allowed it, Will allegedly “bristled” when he found out, encouraging Harry to “shave it off” regardless. When asked why it bothered him so much, the father of three supposedly told his younger sibling:

“Because I wasn’t allowed to keep my beard.”

Harry mused:

“Ah — there it was. After he’s come back from an assignment with Special Forces, Willy was sporting a full beard, and someone told him to be a good boy, run along and shave it. He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he’d been denied.”

Oof.

Everything was always a competition between them. Even something as simple as facial hair. LOLz!! William must be feeling so proud of himself for pulling off the beard now! Maybe he’s thinking he’s going to be in charge soon enough and can do what he’s always wanted? We wonder if he’ll be forced to shave it off for now though…
