In a lengthy Us Weekly cover story on Wednesday, sources opened up about how the Duchess of Sussex has found her new purpose after taking her Prince Charming and going home. Noting that she’s gone through many career changes in her past, a family friend told the outlet:

“You’re established in one world and then you enter another and your narrative is dictated by external forces.”

Not easy to navigate!

After leaving the royal family, Meghan and Prince Harry made a splash by doing several media projects and interviews, but it quickly became apparent none of it was panning out the way they had hoped. Their podcast, their Netflix deal, nothing was hitting.

In recent months, however, the Suits alum has clearly been preparing for her next shot. Not only is she teasing the launch of her lifestyle company American Rivera Orchards, but she’s also taking pointers from Hollywood powerhouses like Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow. She joined them and others at the house of broker Amy Griffin for a one-day business summit in July, an insider dished:

“Meghan was there to network. She was very kind and humble and eager to learn.”

Over the summer, she’s also gotten more involved with various charity organizations, like The Parents’ Network, a campaign to protect kids from online harm. She and her hubby also made a trip to Colombia. A second insider reflected:

“Meghan has transitioned from actress to royal to entrepreneur. She’s worn many hats, but she believes age and experience have [prepared her] for a bigger purpose in life. She’s very happy with the role she’s carved out.”

It was important for her to take the time to process everything and come up with a new plan of action after her initial media blitz post-royals, the family friend acknowledged:

“After Spare, [Harry and Meghan] realized, ‘OK, we’re ready to move on. We want to focus on our future. We can have meaning and importance separate from the lives we had previously.’”

They added:

“Meghan doesn’t harbor any negative feelings. She just wants peace, and knows you can’t find peace if you harbor resentments.”

She seemed to address this herself earlier this month in Colombia, saying:

“So much of how I approach things is less about the fight and more about how do we show up in the space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity.”

Take her feud with Princess Catherine, for example. While she was happy to wish her well amid her cancer diagnosis, Meghan and Harry have not spoken out about other royal matters — and that’s on purpose. The family friend dished:

“Meghan’s team gets asked daily to comment on stuff that has nothing to do with their lives now. They have left it behind.”

She’s also left some of her own family members behind, like controversial father Thomas Markle, the first source said:

“Meghan still has no contact with her dad. She does not plan on having a relationship with him, and he has not met his grandkids. That ship has sailed.”

Instead, she leans on her pals and “has a great group of friends who are all successful in their own ways who she really trusts.” This includes Serena Williams and Ellen DeGeneres plus other local moms she meets up with regularly. The first insider added that she’s “very close” with neighbor and Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd while a second insider said she’s befriended entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, cofounder of IT Cosmetics.

Things are a bit more difficult for Harry. He “has a small [group] of close friends,” the second source shared, claiming he prefers to keep his inner circle small for “understandable reasons.” While that may be true, we have been hearing his UK friends don’t like his wife and that’s a big reason he’s become more lonely. Not to mention, most live in the UK, and he had to move to California — so that can’t be easy! Regardless, it sounds like he’ll always put his family first, the source went on:

“He’ll always be fond of his home country, but the way he views it, his wife and kids are his priority. If that means making sure they’re safe and happy in Montecito, then he supports that.”

The husband and wife are both very hands-on parents who want their kids Archie and Lilibet to have normal childhoods despite their fame, the family friend continued:

“They take the kids to school, they pick them up, and they are very active and present with them throughout the day.”

Referencing the Duke’s battle for security in the UK, the family friend insisted the children are going to stay out of the spotlight for their safety, noting:

“I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t. … [Prince] William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable. And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [them but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”

It sounds like the kids may not even understand their royal heritage yet, as the friend pointed out, “they’ll have those conversations in due time.” Right now, Meg and Harry want the little ones to feel loved for who they are:

“They’re so well-mannered. Archie is sweet and curious and playful, and Lili is vibrant and happy.”

The second source added that the parents are happy just being parents right now. Thankfully they apparently have plenty of time despite working on their Archewell Foundation campaigns and launching their business ventures. But as the kids get older, anything is possible:

“Afterwards who’s to say? But I think the focus is very much on raising their two children.”

And staying on the same page really helps. Meghan and Harry have been leaning on each other for support this whole time, the friend shared:

“They’re so in sync. Throughout their relationship, they’ve stood together no matter what.”

The second insider revealed that they enjoy downtime together and try to keep a positive mindset and are motivated to do their best work always, saying:

“It’s rooted in the bonds they share together.”

As for their new life in California, they do a lot of low-key activities like gardening, hiking, and cooking. The second insider described it as “a California lifestyle.” What, they don’t garden in Merry Old England??

While it was no doubt difficult to walk away from the royal family, they do have a big bonus now. They can work on “projects they are passionate about as opposed to being given projects to do,” making the work “more personal,” the second insider dished. Good point!

Along with The Parents’ Network, Meghan is working on her new initiative, the Welcome Project, which helps empower female refugees from Afghanistan. A third source who has worked with the former actress told the outlet:

“Female advocacy remains a centerpiece of her philanthropic intent.”

She’s also looking forward to launching her lifestyle brand sometime early next year, around the time her new Netflix series is supposed to premiere. The second source expressed:

“[ARO] will likely be very much in line with who Meghan is as a person. She loves hosting events, and she’s very thoughtful about how she treats her guests whenever they come over.”

The third insider said her series “is going to be a take on her and the joy of living,” including “little things she’s learned in terms of being a modern-day hostess.” It’s been rumored Harry may make an appearance. For now, the sources just promised there would be many familiar faces joining in.

So, Meghan has a lot on her plate coming up — but she’s NOT planning to run for office, return to acting, or write a memoir despite rampant rumors, the third confidant maintained. She’s just being Meghan:

“Meghan’s in the middle of her story right now.”

Maybe one day! Right now, a big passion of the 43-year-old’s is simply to give back, the family friend added:

“She knows her life would be extraordinarily different if she did not marry who she married. There is privilege and so much room to do good. She wants to meet the moment and make good on her good fortune.”

The friend noted that it was hard for her to “be herself” in the royal household which is why this change of pace is so refreshing, they shared:

“Most people are not really allowed to be themselves — if you’ve watched The Crown, I think that’s pretty understood.”

That’s why she’s so excited about this moment:

“There’s air and space and room. She can just be who she is.”

It’s certainly an exciting time with so much still to come from Meg! We just hope her business ventures and media projects are more successful this time around! Otherwise, she’s gonna have to come up with a whole new plan!

As we’ve been following, Samantha filed for divorce from the Melissa & Joey alum earlier this month and is seeking sole custody of their 19-month-old daughter Dylan. Days later, reports surfaced alleging Joey has been involved in an ongoing affair with his Socked in for Christmas co-star Melina Alves, who is also apparently going through a divorce because of the infidelity. A source later revealed Samantha attempted therapy with Joey, but that he pretty much derailed any chance of patching up their marriage. It’s super sad stuff. You can read more about it HERE.

But now, an insider is claiming Joey’s alleged affair was NOT what ruined his and Samatha’s relationship!

On Sunday, a source told People the pair “had troubles from the beginning of their relationship.” Hmmm. Well it did seem rather rushed… We mean, it was just three months after Joey finalized his divorce from ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson!

The source claimed:

“Infidelity isn’t the cause … not by a long shot.”

Inneresting… The source didn’t necessarily deny the infidelity — just the part about it being the reason he and Samantha are splitting up.

The insider added:

“[Joey] had gotten to a point where he had hit his limit with defending his kids, his mom and his family to Samantha.”

There weren’t many other details regarding that claim, specifically, but the Blossom star shares daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, with ex-wife Chandie.

As for Samantha seeking sole custody of their daughter Dylan, the source claimed Joey is “torn up.” They explained:

“Joey loves his kids. He is a great dad and his daughters adore him. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for those girls, and that includes Dylan too. He prides himself on being very involved with family and putting family first always. He loves Dylan. He’s torn up that it’s going to be difficult to co-parent Dylan with the demands Samantha has made. Joey is a man of integrity. He is a hard worker. He is a professional.”

A man of integrity… Who’s currently caught up in cheating rumors…

A the end of the day, though, the insider noted the 48-year-old is “relieved the marriage is over because he can breathe … He can be himself. He’s taking the time to make up for all of the lost time that he had with his children.”

So it sounds like his and Samantha’s marriage drove a wedge between his relationship with his oldest daughters. Well, the proximity of his relationship with her and their mom Chandie, alone, would likely be enough to ruffle feathers. But we guess we’ll just have to wait for more specific deets.

The Die Another Day star is seeking sole custody of her son Maceo, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband Olivier Martinez… Because she says he has some behavioral and learning issues her ex won’t properly prioritize!

In court docs filed in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County and obtained by People over the weekend, the X-Men star claimed her son has “educational challenges” and that she’s “fought for tutoring, an educational assessment and finding an environment that was suitable to Maceo’s needs” — but that Olivier has been nothing but “oppositional, unmoving and withheld his consent for years,” instead prioritizing soccer. She claimed:

“Because of Respondent’s opposition to any interventions whatsoever for years and because of Respondent’s prioritizing soccer activities over Maceo’s educational and psychological well-being, Maceo’s educational and behavioral challenges worsened, and he continued to fall further behind in school.”

Yikes!

Furthermore, the 58-year-old alleged Maceo acts out after being with his father for “long periods,” and has even “repeat[ed] disputes” she and Olivier had years ago — and that her ex would respond saying the child was “old enough to make his own decisions.” Really?? At 10 years old?!

Halle’s legal team further argued Olivier “ignores the professionals hired to help Maceo, and he aggressively stands in the way of implementing strategies and interventions to assist Maceo,” and has inhibited “custodial rights, [withheld] information from Petitioner, [made] unilateral decisions on Maceo’s behalf, [involved] Maceo in the parties’ conflict, and [refused] to follow the recommendations of Maceo’s school.” All this being said, Halle is asking for sole custody “or in the alternative, tie-breaking authority to make all decisions” regarding Maceo’s health, therapy, and educational needs.

Olivier’s team told People he will be responding to Halle’s filing in the weeks to come.

Halle and Olivier separated all the way back in 2015 after only two years of marriage, but only just settled their divorce last year. The pair agreed on joint legal and physical custody of their son, with the Monster’s Ball star agreeing to pay $8,000 per month in child support in addition to 4.3% of any income above $2 million. She’s also responsible for the child’s tuition, extracurricular activities, including soccer, health insurance, and any uninsured expenses.

We’ll just have to wait and see what Olivier says in response. Reactions, Perezcious readers??

In footage that’s sweeping the web, Steph Curry’s wife can be seen with his mother Sonya Curry leaving the men’s basketball final at the Paris Olympics on Saturday night. It’s not clear what exactly happened before the footage began rolling, but it opens with Steph’s mom scolding a Paris cop for allegedly touching her grand baby. In the clip, shared by The Hollywood Fix on Youtube, she argues with several law enforcement officers as Ayesha stands off to the side holding Caius, who was born in May, and her older son Canon, 6. Ayesha wipes away tears, clearly in distress, before Sonya waves her on to come over so the two can proceed to their car. However, the officers do not let them cross to reach their destination. A translator gets involved and seemingly tries to explain to the cops exactly what Sonya is saying:

“[Our car is] right there where all those people are on that side. We were over there … Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from. They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back over there.”

But it wasn’t for lack of reason… The translator attempts to relay the cops’ message to Sonya and Ayesha that President Emmanuel Macron is in the area “so nobody’s allowed to cross the street right now until he’s passed” He, like the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, reportedly attended the US VS France basketball final.

Fellow Golden State Warriors team member Draymond Green, who was presumably accompanying Ayesha, Sonya, and the kids to the car, then steps in to ask:

It’s not clear how long the back and forth continued for beyond the video, which ended shortly after. You can watch the full clip (below):

How stressful! We hope Ayesha and her baby are okay! She looked like she was struggling to keep her composure… And if Sonya and Draymond’s claims are true, we can see why! She and Steph also share daughter Riley, 12, and son Ryan, 9.

As we’ve been following, the 20-year-old son of the Bullet Train star and Angelina Jolie suffered a scary crash on his e-bike last Monday — and he wasn’t wearing a helmet. TMZ reported that he was rushed to an LA hospital after sustaining hip and head pain — and his mouth was apparently “filled with blood“! He was ultimately informed while in the ICU that he suffered “complex trauma” from the incident, according to People.

Angelina was said to be right by the young adult’s side in the hospital while dad Brad had to worry from a distance. An insider previously told DailyMail.com the Babylon star has been “distraught and worried over Pax’s accident,” but “unable to reach him” due to their estrangement. But we now know he’s been somewhat kept in the loop throughout this terrifying time.

On Thursday, a source told People Brad’s been “getting updates” on Pax’s condition and early recovery. The confidant explained:

“He hasn’t had any contact with Pax in years, but he still very much cares.”

It wasn’t made clear from whom he’s getting details, but at the end of the day he was a part of Pax’s life for years and undoubtedly cares for him despite their fractured relationship.

Pax has since been released and reportedly has a “long road of recovery and physical therapy,” per People. We’re sending healing energy his way!

In an interview with People published on Wednesday, the Banshees of Inisherin star gave a rare look into his home life with son James. The 20-year-old lives with Angelman syndrome — a rare genetic disorder that causes developmental delay, mental disabilities, issues with speech and balance, and even seizures, according to the Mayo Clinic. And according to Colin himself, the star just wants “the world to be kind to James.”

He opened up about his son’s early years and doctors initially misdiagnosing him with Cerebral palsy, which he said was a common misdiagnosis at the time because of the similar “presentations” and “characteristics.” However when a pediatric neurologist spent more time with James around the age of 2, they were able to determine he had Angelman syndrome due to his “inappropriate outbreaks of laughter.” From the time he received that official diagnosis, Colin said he and his ex Kim Bordenave were able to “zero in” on care.

For the interview, it was the first time The Batman star ever allowed a camera crew into his home, as he told the outlet that he’s “very private.” But his goal in doing so is to help raise awareness:

“I choose to believe that if James knew that doing this could help families and could help other children and young adults who live with special needs, James would say, ‘Dad, what are you talking about? Why are you even asking me? It’s a no-brainer.”

Colin revealed that James, who is nonverbal and turns 21 next month, will lose out on many of the support systems he currently qualifies for:

“Once your child turns 21, they’re kind of on their own. All the safeguards that are put in place, special ed classes, that all goes away, so you’re left with a young adult who should be an integrated part of our modern society and more often than not is left behind.”

But he won’t stand to see his son “left behind,” so he’s launching the Colin Farrell Foundation to extend that support to adults living with developmental disorders. He told the outlet:

“For years [I] wanted to do something in the realm of providing greater opportunities for families who have a child with special needs, to receive the support that they deserve, basically the assistance in all areas of life.”

He added:

“This is the first time I’ve spoken about it, and obviously the only reason I’m speaking is I can’t ask James if he wants to do this. I mean, I can. I speak to James as if he’s 20 and has perfect fluency with the English language and age-appropriate cognitive ability. But I can’t discern a particular answer from him as to whether he’s comfortable with all this or not, so I have to make a call based on knowing James’s spirit and what kind of young man he is and the goodness that he has in his heart.”
