While chatting with Michelle Yeoh for Interview magazine about her new film The Substance, the pair opened up about the Hollywood beauty standards. The 61-year-old actress praised the Everything Everywhere All at Once for her acceptance speech at the Academy Awards, saying it reminded her that “we can define where we want it to go and who we are.” She continued:

“We don’t have to fight against that, we just have to believe that something else is possible. To me, what’s exciting is, in the film, I’m representing a past ideal and not what my present is.”

Looking back, Demi noted she specifically struggled with her place in the business after working on the Charlie’s Angels 2003 sequel — all because of the chatter about her appearance. She called out one scene in particular, in which she meets Cameron Diaz’s character at a beach during a stakeout while wearing a black bikini. Watch (below):

The scene was instantly iconic as Demi showed everyone she still looked AMAZING! Unfortunately the reaction was the opposite of what it should have been. Instead of realizing older women could still be taking on bombshell or femme fatale roles, folks in Hollywood got confused about what to do with her!

Demi, who was 40 during filming, felt “there didn’t seem to be a place for” her in Hollywood after the “talk about” her looks. She told Michelle:

“What’s interesting is I felt it more when I hit my forties. I had done Charlie’s Angels, and there was a lot of conversation around this scene in a bikini, and it was all very heightened, a lot of talk about how I looked. And then I found that there didn’t seem to be a place for me. I didn’t feel like I didn’t belong. It’s more like I felt that feeling of, I’m not 20, I’m not 30, but I wasn’t yet what they perceived as a mother.”

At that time, Demi really started to question where she “fit in”:

“It was a time that felt, not dead, but flat.”

Like so many actresses, Michelle sadly understood the Ghost star’s experience. Unfortunately, there are still too many men — both on the fan side AND producers — who are incredibly harsh when it comes to a woman’s aging looks. And as she pointed out, the business is so “cruel” to women as they age, saying:

“Hollywood is cruel to women of that age, where you don’t find the scripts or the characters that resonate with you anymore. It’s either, you are the mother or you’re old enough not to be sexy in their eyes. It’s like, why can’t a 45-year-old, a 50-year-old, or 60-year-old, be sexy?”

Perezcious readers know the makeup mogul and the Call Me By Your Name star have kept their relationship private. Over several months they’ve only been seen a small handful of times out and about together, such as at the Golden Globes, at a Beyoncé concert, or on a local date night — and even then they tried to go low-profile. And other than her potentially going Instagram official with Timothée by accident, she doesn’t even post about him on social media!

It’s a complete 180 from her relationship with Travis Scott. Not to mention fans are just used to seeing all the big moments of her life play out online or through The Kardashians. But not this time.

And Kylie is loving the change. It’s why her relationship with the Wonka star isn’t up for discussion, not even during an interview with British Vogue on Tuesday! Explaining why not, she told the outlet:

“Privacy is so important to me in life.”

Keeping their romance so low-key “feels so good” to the reality star. As we mentioned, the feeling is “so good” that Kylie won’t even give us a little tea about Timmy. Damn.

Of course, that stance on the matter most likely comes from the fact the Kylie Cosmetics founder has been in the spotlight since she was a young child and started to film Keeping Up With the Kardashians with her family. She continued:

“I learnt at such a young age how to deal with all of this in the best way for me. So I don’t go crazy, if I am being honest.”

Even momager Kris Jenner pointed out to British Vogue that Kylie figured out how to protect her peace while dealing with the intense scrutiny from the public:

“When we started it was a different world that we lived in and we created this fanbase of hundreds of millions of people – if you add up our social media followings it’s billions of people. And you’re having people weigh in and give their opinion. She [had to] protect her soul. She has learnt to be emotionally available only to the people she feels really comfortable being around. She protects her mental health that way. Anywhere she goes it creates a lot of brouhaha. It can be very overwhelming.”

While sometimes fame is hard for Kylie, especially when she struggled with her self-image during her teen years, it isn’t all bad. The mom of two added:

“People ask me, ‘How do you deal with all this?’ I don’t remember a time before. I don’t really remember a time before there were the lights and the cameras.”

Yeah, she really doesn’t have anything to compare it to!

The 33-year-old Harry Potter alum last graced our screens in 2019 when she starred in the seventh (and some say best!) film adaptation of Little Women. While fans may miss seeing her on the big screen, Emma told British Vogue in a new interview she’s “so glad” she put a pause on her acting career! Why? Because she got the opportunity to pursue her other passions in life!

In recent years, she has dabbled in directing, even working on a fragrance commercial for Prada. The Beauty and the Beast star launched her own gin brand, Renais, with her brother Alex. And that’s not all! Emma enrolled in a creative writing MA program. She even wrote a play — though don’t expect her to give up any of the details of the project! The actress certainly has been a busy bee over these past four years! While Emma is happy to chase after these other dreams, the decision to push aside her movie star career was not an easy one.

All she ever knew was acting — something she began doing at the age of 10! So to begin a whole new path in life came with a ton of uncertainty for Emma. She explained to British Vogue:

“Because I’m in a career that moves very quickly, the decision to take time to do these things felt like a very big decision. [Choosing] to go back and write and study and get behind the camera was terrifying for me because I’d never done it before. I had always been in front of the camera; I’d always been an actor.”

But once she let go of her fears and pursued her other creative ventures, she realized that was the best choice she could have made for herself! After years of feeling as if the characters she played in the movies were “much realer” than she was, Emma said she finally got her “own voice” back during this sabbatical:

“I’m just so glad that I did [step away from acting] because I have this feeling of having my own voice and creative space and sovereignty in some way that I don’t think I did before – more autonomy. I’m so glad that I allowed things to be messy for a minute and to really allow myself to not know [what’s next], because the knowing that I’ve come to, I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”

What really made her time away from acting so special? Emma shared she was able to discover what truly brought her joy in life, noting she realized “success” didn’t always fulfill her:

“I get a front row seat [with] some of the most successful, beautiful, incredible people in the world, And when you have that seat it becomes very, very clear that there is just absolutely no level of success that will make you in any way happy or content if you do not like who you are or enjoy what you’re doing when no one’s watching.”

And when “no one’s watching” her, Emma enjoys not only doing her passion projects but prioritizing “really stupid things” or “the basics” — like playing pickleball, collecting stickers, and spending time with her dog, Sofia:

“I just look at her and I’m like, ‘Well, I’m happy and you’re happy.’ The thing that is so amazing about animals is they’re just so good at being. Food, humans, sleep – they’re very good at the basics. I feel like whenever I get really overwhelmed, I’m like, ‘Emma, just do the basics.’”

As for whether Emma will return to acting? Everyone will have to wait and see. But for now, it seems Emma is content exploring other dreams. Reactions, Perezcious readers? But in her new cover profile for Allure on Thursday, she got more candid than ever about the surgery, telling the mag:

“If I’m honest, I wish I’d never [gotten implants].”

While she didn’t elaborate on what changed for her, one thing is clear: being a girl mom is having an effect on her views on beauty!

In a new video for Vogue on Thursday, the 41-year-old rapper spilled the tea on 11 different looks from her career — and one ‘fit in particular made her decide to go under the knife: her look at the 2022 Met Gala.

The all-black, feathered out Burberry dress, paired with leggings and a matching baseball cap, was a look that Nicki “loved” — but what she didn’t like was the fact her boobs were “spilling out”:

“I just realized just this moment that actually there was something good that came out of this. It’s what really cemented the fact for me that I had to get my breast reduction. I did my fittings and stuff, I told them I loved this hat, I loved what the outfit was giving — but, I said, ‘You guys, listen, look these boobs are gonna be spilling out’.”

After Naomi Campbell told the Barbie World rapper it was time to go, she recalled looking at herself in the mirror:

“And by the time we were ready to go, I looked in the mirror, I said, ‘Guys, my boobs are still spilling out’.”

But X (Twitter) users got savage over it earlier this year, roasting him with comments like:

While speaking with British Vogue on Thursday, the 30-year-old singer opened up a little more about her very private relationship with Liily drummer Maxx Morando. In her June 2023 cover story — her first for British Vogue — she told the story of how she and the 24-year-old met:

“We got put on a blind date. Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.'”

Ha! True!

Good thing he was braced — you’d hate to think someone set him up and suddenly he was face to face with THE Miley Cyrus! Someone has to prepare themselves for something like that! LOLz!

The first time she ever hinted about having a new man in her life after her messy divorce from Liam Hemsworth was way back in September of 2021, when she told Vogue her unnamed new boyfriend was one of her “favorite emerging artists.” The Flowers songstress finally didn’t make her relationship with the artist public until January of last year when a source dished to E! the couple had made it official:

“She’s happily dating Maxx. It’s official between them.”

At the time, she’d already been linked to him for a while. And if you’re wondering, no, their six year age gap is not a problem for them. Sources claimed their connection came “naturally” and began with art:

“They are both artistic and creative, so they bond over being musicians.”

He even spent some time traveling to keep up with his lady, staying nearby when she and Pete Davidson hosted NBC‘s New Year’s Eve special in 2021, according to another insider:

“He was backstage with Miley and Pete at the New Year’s Eve rehearsals and taping having a good time with them. They were are all super friendly with one another and seemed to have a great night.”

Since then, they’ve kept their relationship super private, only making small posts and appearances here and there. In March when the Wrecking Ball singer released her new album Endless Summer Vacation, Maxx made a post proudly announcing he’d produced a couple songs on the record — including Handstand and Violet Chemistry.
