First, before J.Lo finally filed for divorce, sources claimed her inner circle, including her longtime manager Benny Medina, HATED her hubby. Not a great sign! More recently, because they seemingly didn’t have a prenup before tying the knot, Ben’s bestie Matt Damon could get dragged into the messy divorce, which we bet has soured him on Jenny from the Block!

The duo started their production company Artists Equity after the Bennifer wedding, meaning Ben’s stake is now community property in the divorce, according to TMZ. So the singer is entitled to financial interest from their films and could fight Ben for some of his stake in the company! With all that in mind, it got us thinking… If J.Lo’s friends never liked Ben, how did his friends feel about her?? Was everyone seeing the red flags or nah?!

Well, it turns out The Martian star was actually very open about how he felt about the lovebirds when they rekindled things. In 2021, Matt chatted with Extra on the red carpet of his movie Stillwater and he weighed in on the romance, sharing:

“I’m just so happy for him.”

So, not exactly a glowing report or any kind of comment on Jennifer herself. Just that he’s happy for his friend. Hmm. It seemed like such a sweet sentiment at the time, but looking back, was this a little cryptic? Was he purposefully not mentioning the other half of the relationship?? Hmm.

FWIW, the 53-year-old did acknowledge Jennifer a little later on — but he still kept his thoughts vague, adding:

“He’s the best. He deserves every happiness in the world. I’m glad for both of them.”

Huh.

By the way, this wasn’t the only time he commented on the relationship. In May of that year, before the romance was confirmed, he appeared on Today where Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb questioned him about the rumored sparks. He coyly teased:

“I just heard you guys. I was sitting here waiting to come on TV. It’s the first time I heard about it.”

But he did gush about them both, saying:

“It’s a fascinating story. I hope it’s true. I love them both. I hope it’s true. That would be awesome.”

Back then, Matt seemed to like the Hustlers alum, as far as we can tell. So we guess it was only her friends seeing the warning signs before anyone else!

But as Ben’s bestie, we wonder if Matt has a different opinion these days?? We mean, he must if he’s about to get caught in the middle of the divorce, right? And just imagine the horror stories he may have heard from his buddy as the marriage was deteriorating! He’s gotta have all the tea — and he’s clearly Team Ben all the way!

Matt’s been by Ben’s side throughout this whole split, and the pair have been spending a ton of time together both before and after the filing. From what we’ve heard Ben has been totally focused on work. Over the weekend, the father of three even seemed in good spirits as he joined The Instigators star, his wife Luciana Barroso, and their children for dinner in Los Angeles. So Matt’s loyalties haven’t changed! Romances can come and go but this bromance will never change.

As you’ve probably heard, romance rumors started circulating about the two over the weekend. Page Six reported the pair were seen together at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and elsewhere in Los Angeles lately. Multiple sources even confirmed they’ve been “spending time together.” It’s unclear if things are romantic; we’re hearing conflicting reports.

However, we soon heard one thing that made all this a lot more intriguing — they didn’t just meet for the first time. No, they go way back — long before the Jennifer Lopez marriage! A source said Kick and Ben “had a fling before he got back together with JLo.” Whoa! However, they claimed the two ended things because “she was too young and not ready for anything serious.”

But there may have been something else besides her age that came between them — Ana de Armas! That’s right, a new source says this little… whatever-it-was… happened right before THAT relationship!

The Justice League star began dating Ana in March 2020 after meeting on the set of their ill-fated erotic thriller Deep Water in New Orleans. Things between them got serious fast as she moved in with him during the pandemic. They became tabloid fodder, regularly captured by the paps going for walks together — something many believe were staged! — and posting cute pics on social media.

Their relationship didn’t even make it to the one-year mark. She reportedly dumped him by January 2021! A few short months after that, he rekindled things with J.Lo. And the rest is history!

However, a lost chapter in the history of Ben’s heart… before Ana, there apparently was Kick! A Hollywood source told Page Six on Tuesday:

“Their friendship has been going on for a while, even before Ana. When Ben started seeing Ana in 2020 and chose to quarantine with her during Covid, Kick was less than thrilled.”

Damn! They make it sound like they were on their way to something, even if it wasn’t full-on romance yet. And Ben went off and made a movie with an international sex symbol and forgot all about her! OUCH!

The rejection must have stung for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s daughter — though not enough to stop her from going back to him four years later?

When Ben’s marriage with Jennifer came crashing down earlier this year, he reportedly reconnected with Kick, and they began a friendship again. Whether it’s anything more is up for debate. As speculation about Ben and Kick went wild online, multiple insiders said the pair are at least friendly with each other right now, as they are “hanging with each other” and “getting to know each other.” Even if they aren’t dating, there’s potential for more, right? And let’s be real here, Ben has a habit of going back to exes! Would this really surprise anyone if they hooked up, broke up, and later rekindled their romance?

Plus, it sounds like being a part of the Kennedy fam is a “dream” for Ben. A Hollywood source who has worked with the Argo star told Page Six:

“Affleck would love nothing more than to be part of the Kennedy clan. It’s a dream for any Boston guy … I think he would rather have that than a billion-dollar, red-carpet glam life with J. Lo.”

Ouch! What a blow for Jenny from the Block! However, a spokesperson insisted — once again — the reports are simply “not true.” Hmm. They said:

“This is not true. They are not hanging out.”

His rep really wants us all to believe nothing is going on between them! That they don’t even know one another! Ben Affleck‘s rumored new girlfriend Kick Kennedy has a strange backstory for an environmental activist!

It’s no secret that Kick’s father Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has shared some pretty unusual tales amid his failed presidential run, but this one that his own daughter revealed years ago?? It’s maybe the grossest… even potentially incriminating!!

Back in 2012, Kick reflected on her childhood with Town & Country, sharing a story that demonstrated how she inherited her father’s similar “eccentric environmentalism,” as the outlet put it. When she was just 6, she claimed in the profile, a whale washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Her father loved to study animal skulls and skeletons, so he raced down to the beach — to get the whale’s head! Yes, you read that right. He drove down, with the kids, and he CUT OFF THE WHALE’S HEAD WITH A CHAINSAW! Yikes!

Remember, Kick was there, just a little girl! So he not only decided to cut off this whale’s head, which sounds ghoulish enough… He brought his kids along! ICK!

RFK then bungee-corded it to the family’s minivan — where it stayed for a five-hour drive to Mount Kisco, New York. OMG! The 36-year-old recalled riding down home with this thing on the roof:

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet. We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”

Jeez!!

How was that normal?! This is an absurd story in and of itself, but as mentioned, it could be illegal, too!!

The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund is up in arms now that this story has resurfaced. The group’s national political director, Brett Hartl, even urged the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to investigate. He wrote a letter to government officials on Monday, noting it’s illegal to possess “any part of an animal” protected by the Marine Mammal Protection and Endangered Species acts, which includes several whale species. He noted that “continued possession of any whale skull” would be an ongoing violation of the law.

Also, transporting a skull across state lines would be a “felony violation” of the 1900 Lacey Act, “which prohibits the transportation of any wildlife, dead or alive, that was reduced to possession in violation of any state, federal or international regulation or law.” Per Axios, Brett continued:

“Normally, an unverified anecdote would not provide sufficient evidence as the basis for conducting an investigation.”

But wild animal stories like this aren’t exactly new for this hopeful politician:

“However, Mr. Kennedy has admitted that he has recklessly — and with no regard to legal requirements — taken other species of wildlife for his own personal benefit.”

Earlier this month, before dropping out of the presidential race, Robert revealed he covered up the death of a bear after a woman hit and killed it. He’d planned to “skin” and eat the bear cub, but when he ran out of time to go home and drop the dead animal off before other plans, he decided to leave it in Central Park instead, where he made it look like the creature got hit by a bike. Yeah, he openly admitted to all of this (below), so that’s why this activist group is so concerned!

This is after that photo of him allegedly eating a roasted dog came out… This is just… wow. Three dead animal stories in just a few months. And we wouldn’t even have heard of this one if Kick hadn’t apparently started dating Ben Affleck! So the question comes to mind…

How many more weird ass RFK stories are out there??

While they’re hoping for a full investigation and any necessary consequences, at the very least, the organization wants RFK Jr. to surrender “any and all illegally obtained wildlife that he continues to possess.” So far, he hasn’t reacted to his renewed controversy. While Ben is denying having any involvement with Kick, this is sure one inneresting look at his potential new in-laws! LOLz!! Reactions?! Sound OFF (below)!

After tons of romance rumors between Ben Affleck and Kick Kennedy, his rep is finally speaking out! On Tuesday, the actor’s spokesperson Jen Allen denied the speculation, telling People:

“There is no truth to any of it. I don’t know if they even know each other.”

BTW, if this quote sounds familiar to you, it’s because it is!

As these romance rumors have taken off online, the notion that the pair don’t know each other has been a consistent claim, along with sources calling the speculation “garbage” and insisting “there’s definitely nothing going on.” Whether or not that was Jen as “a source close to Ben” this whole time, it’s clear his team doesn’t want people to believe there’s any truth to this dating narrative. Now, they’re bringing out a named spokesperson to try to make their argument sound more legitimate!

But is it?? Ben and Kick both have reason to say nothing is going on. Jennifer Lopez only just filed for divorce, so romance rumors with another woman? That could sting, and from what we’ve heard Ben wouldn’t want that. But it doesn’t change the fact we have multiple reports these two are at the very least friendly — and have been seen together multiple times in recent days!

Page Six reported Ben was seen with RFK Jr.’s daughter at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and elsewhere in LA lately. Various insiders have claimed they linked up sometime in the spring or early summer — which would track with his divorce. Per court papers, Bennifer split in late April.

Meanwhile, a DailyMail.com confidant just claimed that Ben and Kick actually go way back — which might be why certain sources don’t want the speculation to continue! Per the insider, the rumored couple “had a fling before [Ben] got back together with JLo.” Um, whoa!

The sources also made clear “they didn’t have any affair during his marriage,” but still, it’s telling that he’d run right back to an ex after his split! That said, it’s really unclear if there’s anything steamy going on at this point. Another insider told the outlet the performers are just “friends,” sharing:

“Ben has been spending time with Kick but there is nothing there yet. They are friends and enjoy hanging with each other and it is true that she really doesn’t have any thoughts about what JLo would think of her spending time with Ben. He’s a great guy and they are getting to know each other.”

Hmm. Lots of different versions of the story out there. But even if you buy they’re just friends hanging out, which is totally fine… why would Ben’s rep deny they know one another? That in itself is sus, right??

As Perezcious readers know, J.Lo filed for divorce earlier this month. But per TMZ insiders, the couple shockingly didn’t sign a prenup before getting married. That means that anything they acquired in their 2-year marriage is now community property — meaning they’ll have to equally divide their assets. The performers were booked and busy these last few years, but that’s not the only reason this split is getting messy and very complicated, according to insiders!

Just four months after Bennifer tied the knot, the Good Will Hunting lead formed his production company Artists Equity with Matt Damon in November 2022. Via TMZ, Ben’s stake in the company is now community property. And it is one of the biggest assets at play in the divorce. OMG!!

This means that Jenny from the Block is financially entitled to share profits from the company’s recent hits, such as Air, the upcoming Unstoppable which she stars in, The Instigators, Small Things Like These, and The Accountant 2. Because of this, Matt could get dragged into the divorce, too, since he is a major stakeholder in the company. It’s currently unclear exactly what may play out. But if things are as messy as they sound, and if Ben really didn’t do anything to safeguard his business from his marriage, then who knows?! Maybe J.Lo would fight him to retain some of his stake in the company for good? That would be wild!

Now, Ben will also have a financial interest in some of the projects she was involved in, too, like Shotgun Wedding, Atlas, and This Is Me… Now. But while it may be annoying for to split her income, it’s not quite the same as having his company on the line!

On Tuesday an insider, who knows both the Marry Me lead and the Air director, revealed:

“They are very different people. She’s super public and is more social, and he’s more of an introvert and is happy to hang out at home.”

While this kind of incompatibility would sour any relationship, it wasn’t the only problem.

Another source claimed the actor is prone to “mood swings” with “big highs and big lows,” noting:

“Who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.”

A confidant close to Ben even admitted that his behavior has a huge impact on his connections, saying:

“He doesn’t understand how his bad mood affects people around him.”

Oof.

Sounds like he drove her away with his rollercoaster personality!

As for why the former lovebirds didn’t pick up on any of these red flags before they tied the knot, a source close to both of them said they just got way too caught up in the hype of Bennifer 2.0. Didn’t we all! They dished:

“It happened quickly. These were two people who were in love with love, and who wouldn’t jump into that? They really loved each other.”

Now, J.Lo especially “is heartbroken,” acknowledged a fifth source. They added that her hurt feelings were made worse by the fact she wasn’t done fighting for the romance! That insider said:

“She tried really hard to make things work.”

Unfortunately, it takes two to tango, though. Once the father of three moved out of their marital home and they were spending their summers on different coasts, he just checked out completely.

He may have even moved on, too! Two sources reiterated our prior reporting to the outlet about how he’s been quietly spending time with Kick Kennedy since June!! However, an insider close to Affleck argued otherwise, calling the romance speculation “garbage,” and insisting:

“There’s definitely nothing going on. I don’t think they even know each other.”

Hmmm…

But according to other sources, it definitely sounds like there’s potential there! And even if there wasn’t, it doesn’t seem like this would’ve changed things with his wife. A J.Lo source said he wasn’t giving the singer “any signs that he wants to continue their marriage.” That insider shared:

“It got to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”

And so she filed! Not a shocker considering everything we’ve heard, but it’s still so tough! But here’s what is surprising: apparently ever since filing the split docs, the exes have been very amicable — and insiders believe it’ll stay that way. The source who called out Ben for his “mood swings” claimed everything’s calm behind the scenes right now, sharing:

“It’s civil. There’s lots of love and lots of respect there — and sadness.”

For his part, Ben has been looking pretty happy now that the legal split is finally underway. That’s gotta suck for J.Lo to see, but maybe that’s why things are so “civil”?? He’s clearly not too hung up on the past, perhaps making things a little less emotionally charged… Hopefully, things stay as respectful as they deal with the logistics of the split!
